Agreed. When Stephen ever returns to the stage of his theatre, with audience and all, then his wife will have to be there ... always. She should get her own chair, just besides Stephen's desk, and laugh at his jokes. We are now so used to her (suppressed) laughing, we cannot do without it anymore.
The giggling in the background makes this so much better than a cheering studio crowd.
Evie laughing at every joke is so endearing, she clearly finds her hubby extremely funny & it's so cute when Stephen smiles just a teeny bit after the punchline gets delivered because she's laughing. They're such a sweet couple.

Hearing Evie cracking up in the back at Stephen’s jokes is the wholesome content this country needs.
She is biggest cheerleader... and his sons helping with the show and his daughter preping his b-day made me remember when he took her to the Grammys. It seems like a great family to belong to.
My favorite thing is that making her laugh obviously delights him more than anything. It's precious.

Colbert's goal of hearing laughter from his wife pays dividends. When Evie is there the jokes get brighter, the punch lines funnier because there is a touch more added. Hmm, something added like, maybe loving care between these two. Never a hand slapped away or anyone lumbering off solo with the only umbrella between these two.

Ari Cowan - Yes. The Corbert Show was one of a kind and always made me laugh from deep down in my soul. I like to pull up clips on CZcams to remember his genius. I recall an evening where he really uncovered ReTHUGlican hypocrisy and probably made many of them furious. His show was able to so clearly show what the fascist-right wing was truly made of.

When they showed Michelle as War Machine and Barack as Iron Man- THAT was badass.

All of the MAGA Trump For POTUS 2016 & Trump/Pence POTUS 2020 signs previously dominating the lawn patches, flags, ATVs, and overworked pickup trucks in my local trailer park are gone now. In their place?
Generically generic RW&B signage proclaiming loyal support for the "ANY FUNCTIONING ADULT - POTUS 2020" campaign. I haven't seen them anywhere else - which confounds me as they're at least as accurate as anything else is these days. Also, they make me giggle.

Just random fun fact: the feeling that Stephen described, when you repeat a word or phrase so often that it loses all meaning, that's called a jamais-vu (French for never seen), when something familiar feels strange and new, and is the conceptual opposite of a déjà-vu (French for already seen), when something new feels familiar.
There's also the concept of presque-vu (French for almost seen), that feeling you get when something is on the tip of your tongue and you know you know it, but can't for the life of you recall it.

@@o.b.7217 But it's not the same thing. Neurologically, there's something really interesting going on with presque-vu. Basically, as you try to remember something specific, you might recall things that are similar to the one that you're looking for and to help you along, your brain is actively blocking other memories, possibly including the thing that you're actually trying to remember. Only when you stop thinking about it, and move on to another topic, does the brain stop blocking these things, and that's where you get that moment like 10 minutes after you stopped trying to remember something that it suddenly pops into your head. It's really an interesting phenomenon.
