Wanted to change out my RV thermostat. Took the old one off and found those troublesome blue and gray wires. There are no matching color letters on the new one. Yikes, what NOW! I was so happy to find your video. Just so happened I was changing out a Coleman Mach to a Honeywell just like you. I was so happy. All done now after finding out I didn't need those wires after all. Thanks for posting 😊

AC timedelay....It's a good thing to have. It allows the AC compressor to release pressure before restarting. That way it won't lock up the compressor.

I believe Blue is 12+ from the furnace to power the tstat, which won't work for the Honeywell because it's made for 24v. The RV tstat closes the circuit with the white wire to turn on furnace. This is how the newer digital Dometic and mach tstats work without batts. For me I don't really consider it an upgrade if I have to replace batteries.

So that would explain why it didnt work for me 🤦🏽‍♂️ it says 12+ and 12- on the Dometic I took off and it does nothing when ai put the Honeywell on with the same wire mentioned in the video

Thanks for your video. I had to install the control Board for my Coleman Mach AC and I have the same Coleman thermostat and want to replace it with this one.
I have 2 wires from the furnace thermostat which is red 12v and white. This is simple to understand and wire it just acts like a switch when I turn on the furnace. Also the diagram for control board has -12v blue wire, yellow is the compressor, grey to low fan, and green to high fan.
I do not have red +12v going to AC but instead have a Blue -12v. So I'm a little confused that you do not wire up blue.
Are you using Coleman Mach AC? I don't see how yours works without -12v unless your control board takes the +12v.
It would have been nice if you did not snip wires from the old thermostat but pulled them out further so I could see the thermostat wiring going to AC. Possibly what we do not see is -12v blue is spliced going to control board of AC and that is why it works?
I am guessing you have the -12v run to AC and if wired to the thermostat you would not need batteries?
I'm a little nervous to install this thermostat as control board is working with the analog Coleman Mach thermostat.
I have -12v I can jump off of going to gas monitor near the thermostat. Should I run that to control the board of AC and bypass thermostat or run to thermostat as also?
Update: Thermostat installed. I chose low fan option also.
I found a video that confirms what I thought. The -12v blue was connected to a -12v source and goes to AC control board.
    czcams.com/video/Ce3y4fgFvak/video.html
Still not sure about if I should also run blue to the thermostat...
    Thanks your video it helped.

The AC delay has to do with charge pressure being higher since it was running and the delay allowed the pressure to drop so it is not hard to start the compressor

Good video on the installation. Yes the grey wire is low fan speed. I installed mine with the grey wire so that it runs the AC on low fan speed. I like that it is quieter and since the unit cools more slowly, it dehumidifies more.

well done. clear. question: did you have to do anything special to have the backlight come on? mine doesn't. thanks

    • @Jimmy2Tech
      @Jimmy2Tech  Před rokem

For this model, thebacklight should come on assoon as you touch any of the arrows that adjust temperature. If you're doesn't light up you may have a defective unit. I'd contact the store to get a replacement since the backlight is an important feature in the evening. Best of luck to you and thank you for commenting.

You'll have to do some research. If yours was not these colors there are forms for your specific rv that will break down the possible colors. Good luck on your install. You'll figure it out.
