Sorry if someone already said this, but the reason they call it "be'f" is because various lobbyists have argued for it to be illegal for plant based products to use the names of meat products on their packaging. The original intent was to make the food sound gross (instead of hot dogs they wanted them to be called plant tubes, for example). They wanted to change the marketing to stop the growth in people going vegan/vegetarian.

He had an inheritance and bought an already successful company, already on its way to massive success, and then sucked the value from it by underpaying workers, while overcharging customers. There is nothing any single person could possibly do or invent that would merit them gaining more money than they know what to do with, while those who work for them struggle, suffer, and die. That has been the case with every Billionaire, and most millionaires, doing unethical things, just inside the law, and people like you call that "clever." At least Gates has spent millions helping people in Africa with vaccinations, AIDS meds, and free family planning, allowing for a healthier population, with a plummeting infant mortality rate. I love these ranking videos. My bf and I (as non-vegans) try as many of these imitation animal products as possible because 1. fun, 2. educational, we're really thinking about the ways it works and doesn't work that improve our cooking, 3. when we find a good one it feels great to have more vegan options for some dishes that we feel good about and enjoy.
And because we're still not vegan (he eats more meat than I do) we can serve it to friends (allergy exclusive) and not tell them and surprise them later with how good it is. It's also great to be inclusive in group meals because you don't need to make a separate dish, less work.
We had a banh mi bbq not too long ago with impossible patties. Not a single vegetarian among them and only one pescatarian and there were raves all around. I find a lot of people tend to be close minded about animal alternatives because they've had bad experiences, assumptions, or are just not open to try new things. Being able to serve them a tasty dish with it is so important to just get them open to the idea that hey, they don't need to eat meat for EVERY meal and there are amazing substitutes that are just as good.

    • @rn2787
      @rn2787 Před 2 lety

@@cindymoss4082 I don't have exact measurements for most of it but here's a general idea:
      12 oz package of Impossible
      One flax egg
      1/4-1/3 cup bread crumbs
1-2 tablespoons Vegemite or Marmite or Beyond Bouligoun (you can add more next time if it's not enough)
      Unflavored and unsweetened vegan milk
A teaspoon or so of lecithin (soy and sunflower available) (optional, but it's great for baked goods too)
Pack of vegan French onion soup seasoning mix packet
      Garlic
      Onion
      Black pepper
A few dashes of vegan Worcestershire sauce
MSG or Umami seasoning, or mushroom powder (no more than directed on the package for MSG per serving it won't be as good if you go over)
      Small amounts of:
      Minced carrots (optional)
      Minced celery (optional)
      Minced bell pepper (optional)
      Minced mushrooms (optional)
      Masala wine (optional)
      Vegan cheese (optional)
Tomato paste in the loaf (optional)
      Your favorite seasoning blend
      Ketchup on top (optional)
      Parsley (optional)
Preheat oven to 350° F. Prep vegetables with a food processor or by hand. Make flax egg and wait for it to gel up. Mix all liquids together and add breadcrumbs, but don't put much more liquid than enough to make the breadcrumbs soggy. Add flax egg and seasonings stir to distribute spices. Add everything else and mix and mash until thoroughly combined. If it seems dry add a little more liquid. Put into a loaf pan or shape it into a loaf. Bake at 350° F for 45 minutes or until 165° F. Serve with gravy or top with ketchup while baking. Mixture is great for meatballs too, but you'll want to add other seasonings.
      Problem solving:
If it won't come together add another flax egg or less vegetables.
If it is dry after cooking you should serve with gravy and add more liquid next time.
If there's a lot of liquid in the pan drain some (not all) for a nice crust on the outside.
Don't add any salt before you taste it the soup mix, vegemite (or whichever substitute), MSG, cheese (if added), and vegan Worcestershire sauce all have sodium.
If you want to reduce the sodium you can use a low or no sodium added soup mix or reduce or replace the higher sodium ingredients with low sodium equivalents.
You can make a small test sample in a pan to check seasonings prior to cooking. If your test has too much of a seasoning or salt and a little more breadcrumbs, vegetables, or both and a little more vegan milk.

Impossible Burger is the sole reason I was finally able to become a vegetarian. My (non-vegetarian) family loves it, and even my crusty ol’ hunter uncle gobbled it up and asked for another (of course, he didn’t know it was “rabbit food” at the time 😅)

I love these, I have several food intolerances but finding out there are some options I could possibly maybe handle with some pills 😂 (sadly not available in my country) is amazing. Only the calories are freaking triggering for me but I know why you’re saying them

I've never heard of someone not being able to eat heme. I'm curious can you explain a bit more about it if you don't mind?

    • @francihenderson8526
      @francihenderson8526 Před 2 lety +4

@@aimeecortez5899 heme is an iron-containing compound, so anyone with hemochromatosis, or a tendency for the body to build up excess iron, would need to seriously watch their consumption of it. This includes most red meats and yes, the Impossible burger which heavily uses plant heme. Other iron rich plants are fine since the iron in things like spinach is different.
