    Yes, please. We could really use more tutorials on the WSO seat and how to actually fly strike/CAS/BAI and runway denial missions, as an effective team.😊

    Great guide Ian! I'm using the TM F-18 grip, but your methodology is easily adapted to it.

    Thanks for info. I would like to learn more about the Strike Eagle WSO Capabilities including flying the bird. In a virtual squadron I am a WSO. My nose gunner is a little nervous about letting my have flight control. I assume that is for the case when the nose gunner is disoriented, wounded, or dead. I wonder how often the WSO gets to fly in the USAF? I did read a very interesting book about an F-4 Pilot in Vietnam and he had trained his WSO to fly the instruments to get the Phantom right side up and level if he gave him the words. It turns out that saved the crews life at least once during night dive bombing attacks over the Ho Chi Minh trail when the Pilot got vertigo and when he would get night blinded by AAA fire.

      Interesting. Thanks. I can't claim to have any idea about how things work in the real world. The short answer is that you certainly can fly from the back seat - fairly easily if you put the HUD repeater up. Othe than the kind of situations you describe, I don't think there would be a lot of need to. Truthfully, there is so much interesting stuff you can do back there with the sensors, I'm not sure why you would want to lower yourself to operating the machine ;-)

    Thanks for the info! I am still struggling and haven't even set up anything for the back seat. so now, I will have to work on that. I don't have a TMaster Warthog, and I hope in the next few months to get a Winwing Throttle to go with my Winwing F-16ex stick so I am struggling with whether I should practice now with my X-56 throttle or wait. I find the biggest headache is setting up controls, but hoping the Winwing F-15e throttle grips will make a difference.
    Please; if you would, continue to put out instructional videos with the F-15 and any other module you might be interested in, I find you very easy to follow and in a common sense manner.

      Thanks for the feedback. I agree that there is a lot to wrap your head around with all the controls. I hope you enjoy your new gear.

    Razbam has added two special keybinds "Set Hand Controller Swap" and "Toggle Hand Controller Swap" for the hand controllers, to Swap it to the respective other side.
    So what I did, until my Left Hand Virpil Alpha arrived (had that ordered for the Apache CP/G TEDAC) I had the stick as right hand controller, the "red pickle Button" as toggle, between right and left hand controller and the paddle switch as a modifier, so while I held the paddle switch it controlled the flight stick...
    This setup allows for quickly "grabbing" the flight controls and switching hand controllers seamless on the same stick.
    If you really like flying in the WSO seat or as CP/G in the Apache, a second stick, lots of buttons is a worthwhile investment. Haptics are better and brain damage is averted. The Command switch fwd/aft for example is the same springloaded two way hat on the side of each hand controller, but has different functions depending on the side. The LHC command switch launches countermeasures, the RHC command switch does IFF interrogation. Believe me, in a more stressful situation you want the countermeasures reliable on the same button your muscle memory remembers... Swapping the LHC to the RHC and frantically pressing IFF interrogate instead of launching flares, can be a wee bit frustrating. 😂

      On the RAZBAM Discord they mentioned that the Swap is a full swap including the buttons specific to the RHC (AAI) though in the grand scheme of things this is manageable. I kludged up some switches on both my WinWing F/A-18 Stick and Throttle where the Native control is LHC for Throttle and RHC for Stick. I have Modifiers on the Stick (NWS) to swap to LHC and on the Throttle (CAGE/UNCAGE) to switch to RHC. Sounds messy but keeps a little bit of the RIGHT AND LEFT straight. Haven't flown the WSO seat enough to see if Muscle Memory really works. I am liking the idea @Sidekick65's three way switch approach and Stick for TDC approach.

      This can get confusing as there is no indication which one you are currently controlling

    Please.... How did you activate the right screens? I can on seem to activate the left ones? My cooli right doesn't activate them but does work/show as working in settings.

    So; one question -- Does a virtual pilot fly the F-15e while you are in the WSO seat, or do you have to put it in auto pilot mode in order to allow you to do your thing in the back seat?

    • @Sidekick65
      @Sidekick65  Před 7 měsíci

      Usually I put in auto-pilot. Thankfully the A/P is very good. You can also fly from the back seat - by putting the HUD repeater on one of the screens.

    I really like this idea. However, I'm not sure if I did something wrong or what. It's there a way to get all my other controls to work while the switch is in the modifier position? Example: with the modifier switch in the middle all of my MPDs work like normal. But in the modified position for the hand controllers the buttons on my MPD don't work unless I move the switch back to the center position. Is there a work around for this?

    • @Sidekick65
      @Sidekick65  Před 5 měsíci

      Well, you could probably bind the other command to also work when "modified". That's a lot of effort, but it would work. I can see why it's a problem for your set up, though.
