I never could have guessed at the time that House would eventually become the biggest hit of their career. It felt so exotic stripped down and experimental at the time before the slick MPP production was added.
I was 16 years old in 2007 when I saw Animal Collective the first two times and these songs live for the first time. Strawberry Jam wasn't even out yet. Nothing will ever beat it.
Damn I’m jealous. To have seen anco from 2005-2011 would’ve been peak. I saw them in 2013 and it was great but no where near what the shows used to be. Saw them again last year and yeah they’re just getting older and more tame
Heard the “Dancer” version years ago in college and “He said sometimes I guess I have to miss my wife” has still stuck with me. I understand why he might have changed it for the album but wow is that so devastating, burrowed deep in my brain.
the softer 'drop'(for lack of a better word) in 'Dancer' (In the Flowers) is so chilling. I love the studio version of course, with the bombastic reverb drenched toms and whatnot, but this version feels more psychedelic and eye-opening. It's less like a party and more like a revelation.
The percussion and the siren sample are *chef's kiss* I like the album version, but this one has my heart. I remember feeling a little bit of what the he'll when it first came on and the tempo was completely changed...
I'm gonna watch this whole thing live. I Think I Can and What Would I Want? Sky are some of the most beautiful Animal Collective songs from this era. Thank you for doing this I have a Sung Tongs concept compilation I'd love to discuss with you sometime.
i love these early version compilations, but have you thought of doing some sort of "later version" compilation? for example, like how many songs off of Sung Tongs got updated renditions for the feels - mpp era tours (who could win a rabbit probably the most known, but the spooky versions of good lovin outside and kids on holiday from the 2006 starlight ballroom show really stick out)
I’ve definitely had similar ideas, though more of going through each era using different songs that have returned. But your idea is pretty cool, MPP might be best for it considering most of it has returned over the years. Kind of like “What if Deakin was on MPP?”. Also thought about maybe like a comparison video of these early live versions to the final studio versions.
no way they didn't release Maya in a studio version. I'm almost sure they lost the samples and that's why they didn't do it, there can't be any other way

@@zadehgenerous9331I like how “colorful” the og is, like a rainbow kaleidoscope lol. It almost sounds like a representation of the picture used here.
"sometimes I guess I have to miss my wife" lmaooooo
AHAHA how did he chose that line at that time
Kinda hate it/love it
i think it's perfect. Audience reaction says a lot.

doin' the lords work, can't wait to dig into this, bless!
A channel worthy of many likes and shares
Never heard this version of "Taste"! Kinda dig it more than the studio version tbh. Sounds like it could be on any of their respective solo records.
@@nathanforsyth8376 love the early version of taste so much, very chill and spacious
I have been fed!!! I will never be able to thank you enough for these videos
really makes you appreciate the power of production

Yessss i’ve been waiting for this one! So good
Will to Joy really is a joy! The studio recording is fun and an energetic end to the album. But I really like the live version's tranciness.
Beginning of dancer sounds like they used the frog sound from sponge luke, that’s awesome
It is!
So sick, what a great time this was.. thank you for the upload
From A Beach deserves more love
True, wish it made it onto a studio release
wish just got granted

One of the many thing I hated about Painting With is that their was no early live versions.
Are you going to make a Time Skiffs/Isn't It Now one?
I definitely plan to eventually
this is amazing! where did you find these?
