    My favorite to drive was the 4430 because of the A/C and cab, my favorite to work on was the 4640 because of the amount of room offered, but I have to say the 4020 was my all around favorite. It was just wonderful.

    My all time favorite John Deere was our 5400 Forage Harvester. Three row head and a couple of extensions to fill semi trucks. I loved riding with gramps as he overfilled the trucks. 😂 Only used the wagons to open up the corn fields really.
    We also had an old Farmhand forage harvester (fitted with a John Deere three row head) and a LOUD Detroit diesel. It was used for corn chopping only (it really was awesome too)... those two and 4 - 6 semi trucks (mostly tri-axle trailers - but the six axles would be out there some too - those were all from East Mfg) and the Steiger Panther PTA back at the farm pushing up and packing silage. Occasionally when it was really muddy the two Steigers would be hooked to the trailers via dollys and dumped on the pad using a truck next to the tractor. That was amazing. In its day it was quite an operation.
    Cherished memories... one's I wish I was able to provide for my kids. 😢

    My favorite John Deere tractor is the 4450. I just like them. Here’s why. My cousin worked on a very large dairy farm here in Maine before he started his own farm. His boss bought a low hour used 4450 out of Canada. The first person to run it was my cousin. As his job was running and fixing equipment. He topped off the fuel tank and hooked up to the 6 bottom plow and headed out for a day of plowing. Once he dropped the plow and started he immediately knew something was up with this tractor. He just kept giving it another gear and another and another and the rpm just stayed. Rolling coal and plowing in 12th gear like it was nothing. He knew it must of been cranked up pretty good. Then he really knew at 11:30 when he was already out of fuel when he filled it at 6 am 😂. He yelled to his boss on the radio and said “I need the fuel truck”. His boss said “WHAT!!!you just fueled up at 6”. Lol. Well they took it to the local Deere dealer at the time (Hammond-Tilton) in Fairfield Maine and hooked it to the dyno which was rated for 300hp. Well the 4450 buried it like nothing. Everybody was shocked to find it had been cranked up for pulling (like fair pulling lol) it had some aftermarket goodies as well lol. So knowing what would happen if they didn’t (driveline failures) they turned it down to around 175hp and called it good lol. Sorry for the long story lol. But that’s why the 4450 has always stuck out in my mind. I hope you don’t mind such a long comment. I love this channel!!! And I especially love the heavy tillage videos of all brands of tractors. Take care. (Pete Skowhegan, Maine).

    Big Tractor Power, my dad and uncle bought a 1986 John Deere 2950 brand new. They used it on their farm and for planting pine trees for a long time. Last I saw it had about 15,000 hours on it. It was a good tractor. I grew up riding on it and using it. Have you heard of John Deere making a self propelled peanut harvester? I had read an article on it a while back. I do like the cotton baler pickers that John Deere makes, which is the CP690 which has become really popular in the Southeast.

    • @bcbloc02
      @bcbloc02 Před rokem

      This is false Deere never built any 619 6030 tractors from the factory. The 2 different engines deal is really a little misleading too as the 141hp option offered in 1973 those tractors were really built out of left over 5020 parts and just given 6030 serial numbers. They contain none of the upgraded features that were used on the 6030
