Thanks for making this video, you're still helpin' folks almost a year later!
Thanks Ryan, I’m glad I can help for sure. 👍🏼
Thanks, i kind of figured this is how it went, i just wanted reassurance, also wish i could buy after market but man if i do it will void my warranty, first time owning a newer style ford ive always stuck with 80s-95s, those were just built to last & super easy to fix & etc tough as hell, i do like the power though & the smoothness from the newer fords, just hate the plastic.
You are welcome man. I agree the quality of the older ones were better. You will not void your warranty by putting the tail gate after market plastic part on there. 🤙🏼
Awesome video bro!! I agree… I love my Ford!, but there are some parts just leave me scratching my head sometimes! Lol
Thanks bro. I appreciate you. 👊🏼
Bought this on your recommendation. I've had to return two in a row that arrived damaged due to poor quality packaging. Cheap box that is too small to safely protect the alignment clips, and the hardware bag was taped in such a way to cause damage underneath. Very disappointed.
Man I apologize as mine was absolutely perfect. I’m not sure what’s up with that Amazon company. If any more complaints come my way then I will have to remove their link and not promote them anymore. I sure hate you are dealing with that. Have you searched other companies on Amazon for that piece?
Great video, I need to do mine also. Love your truck too!
Thanks brother. I sure appreciate it. 👊🏼
Love my Ford's. Got 2020 F-150 Lariat sport 4 x4 . 89 Ford mustang GT 5.0....
Awesome. Love them also. I’m hoping the quality is job one slogan they had years ago is not being bid to the lowest priced parts manufacturer. 🤙🏼
Awesome video Mike. I hey ya this weather has been crazy this year. Still cool 🍻
Thank you so much bro. 👊🏼
Good aftermarket replacement.
Yep ford has simped out on alot of their products!!
Good video💪🏾
Thanks brother. Yeah man had to replace another cheap ass plastic part. Gaaaah makes me mad. But like new now. 👊🏼
Oops, I found your links. Thanks! Great video.
Haha. No problem. Thank you !
Hmmmm I've used mine literally at least a 1000 times no problem
I guess they have good and bad batches of plastic deliveries. I’ve had people tell me their just blew off driving down the road. Others like you have no issues. Well thanks for the honest report. I appreciate it. 🤙🏼
I think it’s as much a design problem as it is a part quality issue. If you use the pick up to Hall things and drag them over the tailgate, you inevitably snag the upper/inner lip of cap/cover. This pulls it backwards and snaps the inadequate plastic connectors. I am going to try double stick tape on that edge and maybe several rivets. Bad design on the 2018 can’t believe they still haven’t changed the design.
I 100 percent agree. Design is mostly the issue. My son has a 2014 and his is broke off and he just left it off. Sad that they haven’t corrected the issue yet.
My 2023 Lariat doesn’t EVEN have a tailgate step…WTF Ford, that should be standard
Some year models they didn’t make them. Crazy I know. 🤦🏻♂️
Hey! I bought an aftermket part, installed it, but the push button is kept inside, it doesnt come back, any suggestion?
Take the plastic panel off and look down in there to see what the obstruction is. Maybe take some lithium grease on your finger and put down in the socket to lube the socket. Just a suggestion.
same issue, no matter what i do the plast on the main attachment bumps the button internally. just cheap ass garbage
I have lost two of those flying off going down the interstate. I'm wondering if someone makes an aluminum one that bolts or rivets o n. Too much plastic.
I agree. If I hear of anyone making aluminum or another material then I’ll yell. That is a great idea. 🤙🏼
Good video but the link just takes you to the general four wheel drive page not the actual product. Would you mind reposting the link?
I double checked the links and they seem fine on my end. Here is a link. Try this. Let me know. amzn.to/3PeGaj4
How long did that part last? My replacement lasted 3 months.
Mine still looks new. No issues.
@@LivinWith3M if mine does it again, I’m thinking of using locktite adhesive!
@kclark9236 that is an option for sure. Keep me informed on how it goes.
Thanks for the video. I bought a 2017 XLT Used and this cover is missing. Ford parts are upwards of $50+. Are you still happy with this product?
Congrats on your new to you truck man. Yes definitely use the link in my description and go aftermarket. Mine still like new. 🤙🏼
@@LivinWith3M Thanks!
What's the name of the replacement part? I saw some on Amazon. Can you send a link please? Thanks...

Bought a replacement the cover doesn't attach because the botton keep getting in the way of the damn install.
Dang I hate that man. Not sure what’s going on with that.
@LivinWith3M tried a few different things just garbage plastic. Dean Ford
We gotta stop buying them and boycott them for their crappy quality and youll see how quick they get in line
I 💯 agree. That’s what it will take. 👍🏻
Ford wanted $230.00 for that piece of shit plastic, paid $61.00 on Amazon
Damn right Brad. That’s awesome you went that route. I’m about done messing with dealers too. Unless it’s a dealer only item then I’m headed to Amazon. 👊🏼
Paid 29.00 for mine off of Amazon. Just installed it today. Thanks to this video.
@joemohney7974 Thanks brother for the kind words. Glad I could help. 👊🏼
