Grant Hill was on pace to become one of the best players ever before his injuries. He got hurt in his prime. But how he was able to salvage his career and become a really good role player late is really impressive. One of smoothest players I've seen
Best player ever is a lil over the top but a really good player I grew up watching him in detroit but your outta your mind if you think he was on his way to becoming the best player 😂 dude averaged around 20 points a game and couldn’t shoot but solid player and he did lead the pistons to a championship by being traded for Ben Wallace and Rip Hamilton I’ll give him that
Grant Hill, at his peak, was one of the most well-rounded players. He was a small forward that could play point. His handle was excellent, his passing on point, his defense was excellent, only thing he needed to improve was his 3point FG%.
Remember he played in an era where the 3 point shot was still looked at as a novelty as opposed to a real weapon. At his peak he was one of the 5 best players I ever got a chance to see.
Grant Hill and Eddie Jones where my absolute Favored players from that Draft Class ,Hill got injured way to early in his Career ,He had a huge Basketball IQ

I definitely agree with the statement about steph. 42, and I seen a lot of great shooters in my lifetime. Steph is the best I've ever seen, and combined with his handles, it's really unfair LOL
Grant Hill along with Tracy McGrady and Derrick Rose were dominant players who we unfortunately didn't see play through their career to their potential due to series of unfortunate injuries. Penny Hardaway can make the list too.
Wow I always heard about Grant Hill and how he would been a legend had he not gotten injured though I never actually watched him play. Great reaction! Like you, this the first time I actually seen Grant Hill play and damnnn he can ball!
Grant Hill was gonna be the next one man, he was coming into his prime right after MJ retired. Dude was a problem. He's one of the biggest "What If's" in NBA history.
I agree. I still remember as a teen and watching him come up with the Pistons. He did everything and didn’t need to have the ball in his hands all the time. His biggest weakness was that he was an average shooter, not great, not terrible, just average. He was a great rebounder, especially offensive rebounds, great passer, great defender, super quick, elite handles, really athletic, and had a very high basketball IQ.
If somebody has already said this, my apologies. I remember when LeBron first came out, Grant Hill was one of the players he was compared to as well as magic. I'm sure you can see why after seeing the highlights. Keep it up homie, I've been watching you for almost 2 months now. I love the fact that you're learning about some of these old school players, as I grew up watching ball in the 90s. I was grown by the time Gilbert arenas was rolling, so I clearly remember him and LeBron's battles in the playoffs.
please react also to anfernee "penny" hardaway. he's also a great player from the 90's just like hill.but just like hill he suffered injuries throughout his career that destroyed his full potential as a player
Grant Hill's career fizzled out like a shooting star. I know is due to injuries but you know it is true. He has the sickest dunk against Mount Mutombo.
This will make me sound like a Lebron hater but hear me out. If I were picking teams I would pick a prime Grant Hill over a prime Lebron at small forward. Here’s my reasoning. In his prime, Grant did everything Lebron did but without being ball-dominant. In other words, he didn’t need to have the ball in his hands all the time like Lebron does, and he still produced similar numbers. This fits better with a skilled point guard, which makes for a more well-rounded, balanced team.
Grant Hill's game wasn't rewarding in the sense portrayed here - if you want to watch dunks and flashy moves, look elsewhere - but for his efficient and intelligent all round presence and great court vision. You should check Penny Hardaway. He was the face of the league when MJ was playing baseball.
It is beyond a tragedy Grant hill and Tracy Mcgrady never got to play together the way they were suppose to in Orlando, because of hill pretty much career ending injuries in his prime. They would have been a problem.
in the 90s there were a few names that people feared because of their Physicality.. Alonzo Mourning, Charles Oakley, Anthony Mason, Karl Malone, Dennis Rodman.. just to name a few, but these guys were utlra utlra physical.. elbows, fouls, bodies, mind games..

He got dunked on but he blocked alot. Mutombo asked why people don't talk about his blocks on Jordan. Just the time Jordan dunked on him. If you keep challenging shots, people will score on you
But Media will have you think that weren't any athletic players in the 90s like today. You still Vince. Skemp, MJ, kobe, tmac, Clyde, penny Hardaway even Shaq etc... lots more
Lemme put you up on game on G Hill. That last play was the START OF HIS NBA CAREER. He was the first person to be the next Mike. He was LeBron before LeBron. The ultimate scoring point forward. Injuries robbed him of his prime.
Chris Webber is another solid one if you want to see someone who's got some great posters. Similar to Kemp; strong in the post, good passer, had a solid jumper, tough defense... And so on. Young Grant was a serious threat to Jordan. They won't tell that though. Just like Derek Rose was a serious threat to Bron coming out, and becoming a problem in the league. What?! No. Alonzo Mourning was one of the most overrated defensive players of all time. Considering the large amount of HoF centers during his time, it is a miracle he won defensive player of the year once. He only made 1st Team Defense 2x and 2nd team 2x. And that was generous. In 16 seasons, he only average 3 or more blocks 4 times. He averaged 10 or more rebounds 4 times. At 6'10" in a time where NBA centers were 7'+, he was always being dominated.
@@well.thy.one. Yes 2x. But just during his career, Mutumbo and Ratliff led 3x each and Camby led 4x. Shawn Bradley led once. Ben Wallace led once.
