I honestly believe that Fact or Fiction is one of the hardest cards to play (against) correctly in Commander. There are so many factors that play into how you build your piles, like how many cards players have in hand, what they have in the battlefield, how accessible their graveyard is, how much they've tutored before casting it, and a TON of others.
For removal I think the one blue card that I'm never, ever sad to see is Chain of Vapor. This card is head and shoulders above a lot of other blue removal because you can target your own stuff as well and sac your lands to make copies of it. If you're playing net-positive mana rocks you can use it as a pseudo-ritual, then when you're done bouncing your own stuff you can bounce something of your opponents' as well!
I think as far as creatures go, the ones that I see making the highest impact in games would be Jin Gitaxias (totally agree on this one), but I'd also add Tidespout Tyrant (combo machine) and Nezahal (control superstar). Totally agree with your assessment of Trinket Mage as well!

Fact or fiction is fucking great
I think if Fact or Fiction is hard to play against, Chain of Vapor is hard to play. Unless you have green or black, sending lands to the bin can hurt a lot for blue.
I wear a shirt that says "EOTFOFYL" to my Commander games, so clearly I agree.

The best irony/in-joke/etc people miss with it being Planar Chaos is that both cards actually follow their color's weaknesses in tutoring: Blue can't tutor for creatures and green can't tutor for spells.
Josh kept calling it an over costed Rampant Growth and I was yelling at the screen.

-Any en-Kor creature (they have a 0 cost activated ability to redirect the next 1 damage)
-Any cleric that gets a buff to toughness when targeted by a spell or ability
You can easily use this to gain infinite life in mono w, there is probably way more ways to use it.
I have a mardu fling deck built around this combo. Alesha, who smiles at death gets all the creatures needed from grave. Attack with weak cleric, got infinite, no blocks, switch power and toughness then mp2 fling it at a different opponent.
Mono white plays well with an artifact theme. White has the perfect blockers to help you set up an engine and protect them. White has the cheap removal artifacts are missing.
Also mono white 1/1 anthems is broken. Artifact heavy, 1 mana fliers and big token spells, all of the anthems.
W has a cedh in dom
The problem with mono white is that it doesn't have reliable value engine. They have good removal, that is true, but after you use them you are left with few or no cards in had, while other colors will recover faster than W can draw. Neither is W good at ramping, making it a color that will always progress its game plan slower than other colors. Card draw in white is usually very over-costed and conditional to strategies that do not help win the game (like life gain or small creatures), and ramp is mostly restricted to rocks, which fall behind if not backed up by card draw.
Good W generals that do not depend on attacking are Sram and Teshar, because they can stablish good value engines, that are not over-costed neither rely on weak strategies. Other W commanders usually fall into big hitters decks or wide masses of creatures, which are two strategies that are fun to play, I won't deny it, but are terribly fragile if you go against a meta a bit more optimized.

How is "Imprisoned in the moon" not an honorable mention for single target removal?...it hit lands, creatures, & planeswalkers?
C Teal I’d guess that being a permanent that can be interacted with, that it has to be played on your turn, that it costs 3 mana, and that it isn’t a card type that Blue typically recurs probably pushed it out of their running.
@@goosel9347 yea...but at the same time...it doesn't put the target in the grave, nor does it bounce it, or put it back in the deck. And enchantments are one of the hardest permanents to deal with.
C Teal fair points. I’m just pointing out that by the rest of the cards they picked in blue removal I feel that being instant speed along with the other things I mentioned seemed to rank higher with Josh and Jimmy.
So if mystic remora isn’t on the list I’m gonna be surprised
Interestingly enough, Ive been watching for a year, and Ive now been going back and listening to older episodes while at work, and I just got to the best cards in colours episodes

One of the things they might have overseen with high tide as well, is that it's an instant and costs 1 cmc which means it can be spam cast via Isochron scepter, running something like tribute mage and some mystical tutor stuff you could potentially set this combo up kind of early and ramp out fast, a fun combo if you want to run a semi casual mono-blue deck/artifact deck.

I've also came to appreciate Muddle the Mixture recently, another Counterspell or it can tutor for Rift or Combo Pieces? Amazing.

I think Mindbreak Trap is a great counterspell. It technically doesn't counter but exiles, which is a big upside, it can target any number of spells and it can even be cast for free if your opponent is going off.
Something for tutors that I never see is Long-Term Plans. It fetches you any card with the drawback of putting it third from the top of your library. Though that isn't much of a drawback with all the draw power in blue.

I believe Treachery was Mark Rosewater's idea. He was talking about the free mechanic on one of his recent Drive to Work episodes. Where you could play a spell and untap lands equal to the spell's cmc.

Blue ramp: Turnabout is a card that deserves to see much more play as a kind of High Tide. And it's super versatile.

In Mono Blue, Retraced Image is often just a one mana rampant growth. And in decks where you can hit the grave with return to hand and/or cast from the grave, it can provide more value over the course of the game.
One land I havent heard anyone ever mention is Cephalid Coliseum. It can be a niche card but draw 3 discard 3 can be very powerful cause it gives solid card selection as well as with a large amount of graveyard synergies there are in commander enabling that can be a massive upside

quick note about "reality shift" a small but usefull bonus is that if they happen to hit a creature with it, if that creature had an ETB ability on it they would not get that trigger so it can stop an ability they would have drawn and cast later.

Morgan McHenry Oof! I pulled that off vs an opponent in a 3-player game and used those turns to commander damage the caster first, then the next turn the same to the other guy. We were all laughing so hard! 😆

Draw X cards. If X is 10 or more, instead shuffle your graveyard into your library, draw X, untap up to 5 lands, and you have no maximum hand size for the rest of the game. Exile Finale of Revelation.
Absolutely amazing in my Mizzix deck
I think the downside of shuffling your graveyard into your library keeps a lot of people from running it.
Of course that isn't a downside in every blue deck I like to use my yard as a resource in most decks and shuffling it away turns off all my recursion cards when I draw them off an x spell.
The Untap clause is soo good though, almost makes it worth it.
Asmodeus555 That is true using graveyard as a resource. But with a lot of X draw spells, it’s usually played for pretty big. So you can draw a lot out of your new deck. All the tutors. All the previous draws. Etc.
And then the icing of being slapped with no max hand size practically as an “emblem” more or less without chance of that ever being removed is nice too. Then yeah, you also have the 5 lands untapped to start rolling into the next step of the plan.
@@Stringer207 Yeah if you go for a big x it's still pretty solid and so is the infinite handsize. But it is also a sorcery which is a downside to other x spells. It does untap lands to hold up interaction but not drawing x before your turn starts means you draw a heap of cards and then wait a full rotation to take full advantage of them. I could see it being particularly good in mizzix but I think I'd rather have a pull from tomorrow in most other situations.
But to each their own, I hope you to cast with 10 experience counters and end up with more mana from the untap!

Therr needs to be more love for recurring insight. Its a little expensive at 6 cmc. But its soo good and rebounds for free, so its 6cmc for two uses. You are almost guarenteed to draw ten cards minimum with recurring insight.
I like how they just have a freash bottle of sriracha just chilling on set.
As for board wipe I’d like to give a shout-out to Crush of Tentacles. Not as powerful as the others mentioned, but easily one of the better Sorcery speed ones. With Leyline of Anticipation or Vedalken Orrery it becomes really good.

I think Imprisoned in the Moon is a great removal spell. I love stranding my opponent's commander in play with it.

For blue ramp, the card Energy Tap is pretty good. One blue for a sorcery, 'tap a creature you control and add colorless mana equal to the creatures CMC'

Finally, a video that doesn't focus on a new set. I was getting annoyed by all the set reviews, brawl precon upgrade to commander stuff etc. that came out constantly since two months. THIS is the content I'm here for. Glad you found back to your roots, at least for now.

Treasure Cruise is pretty decent card draw in the right deck. Plus commander is one of the few formats you're still allowed to play it in, so might as well use it where you can

My favorite counter spell card is Forbid it's 1UU that counters a spell (duh) but it has buyback discard 2 cards. I love it in my Niv mizzit and Kumena decks since i'm drawing alot of cards.
Missed Narset's Reversal for counters, Search for Azcanta for draw, and Fatesticher for creatures or even ramp.
I wanted to vote some cards like Urza but it's not showing up in the poll for some reason.
There's a card called pull from tomorrow which is just the three blue draw x for one less blue but it doesn't go back into library and you discard one
I use drain power in my rashmi deck. With tons of flash enablers it can pretty much time walk someone
I'm a huge fan of mindbreak trap. Definitely not the best counterspell but it does exile the stack for free if things are getting crazy. Can even counter cards that usually can't be countered.

Apprentice Wizard is a blue mana dork. Pay one blue tap add 3 mana to your manapol. And its super cheap to. But my pet card in blue is Thalakos Deceiver, a creature with shadow that you can sacrifice to steal a creature if it atttacks and is unblocked.
Tamiyo, the Moon Sage with Omniscience is fun :P

I’m really very surprised that Mind Over Matter wasn’t mentioned at all. Card is the nuts.
Mind over matter and opposition are two of the most oppressive and powerful cards in blue. I've not finished the episode, but deadeye navigator is one of my picks for the most broken card in blue along with those two.

But I have a question for this video, when you are talking about Dreamscape Artist you mention that it won't be good if you are playin with 8+ decks, or something like that, but I don't understand what that is.

Isn't Mission Briefing just another Snapcaster Mage, without a creature and plus the surveil 2? People don't seem to remember this card, and it's MUCH cheaper than Snappy.
For blue ramp: whir of invention, fabricate, tezzeret, reshape etc

I always think of Spellshapers as saying "Tap: Target card in your hand becomes a ~." So I read Dreamscape Artist as saying "Tap: Target card in your hand becomes a Harrow."
Intruder Alarm is so powerful and combo-rific that I don’t even play it anymore. Kind of surprised at its omission in the enchantment section.

IMO, Naru Meha, Master Wizard from Dominaria is cEDH level with Ghostly Flicker / Illusionist Stratagem.
I played Capsize in a Kruphix deck, and returned half of my opponent's board to his hand in one turn. He *hates* this card, now.
Cast sudden substitution when your opponent overloads cyclonic rift. It feels soooooooo good!!!
