    Synthesis Pod works with Tasha, the Witch Queen. You cast one of their already exiled spells with her -3, trigger her demon ability, use the Pod to exile their spell (that you control) and dig for something else from their deck, and trigger the demon ability again. And you can get a permanent spell off of the pod instead of just instants and sorceries.

    • @weirdo82
      @weirdo82 Před 10 měsíci

      Commenting even further in the future, seems like a slam dunk in Saruman of Many Colors too. You cast your spell, activate the pod, getting a higher cmc card and triggering his "2nd spell" clause, potentially casting a third spell from a graveyard for just 1 more mana and 2 life!

    The gaining life on White Sun's Twilight seems pretty relevant to me. If you do it for more than 5, especially 10+, you've you just board wiped, put down creatures that can be lethal on a player and the life gain swing are all things that when come together become a lot stronger.

    I think The Eternal Wanderer is absolutely insane. For six mana if it just gets to -4 that's already incredible, but then it just gets to stick around and pump out 2/2 doublestrikers or blink/remove blockers! It is going to be very hard to get rid of because you keep your strongest thing and everyone else gets something that almost certainly won't attack through your creature. I expect that card to skyrocket in price shortly after release.

    Synthesis Pod is actually interesting for counter spell protection. You don't always have a counter spell in hand but this artifact can sit on the table, and then later if someone is countering your spell, you use this on your own spell, get something, and then their counter spell fizzles because it's target is gone.

    I just want to slide the Ichormoon Gauntlet onto Elminster and go NUTS! He casts so many spells on the cheap and you can put so many counters on him (which you are doing anyway!) He needed a broken ultimate and this definitely helps get him there.

    I might try Blue Sun’s Twilight in my Lucea Kane deck. I learned from playing Yarok that when you can double up your stealing effects (especially ones that aren’t removable once they resolve), they get pretty good. Lucea ramps hard, and getting four bodies while removing two looks like a deal to me. Even stealing a commander while also getting its ETB/LTB as one of your options can really disrupt someone.

    Thief of Blood sounds pretty good for All Will Be One-you can load your permanents with counters while waiting to draw AWBO, then Thief of Blood hoovers them all up (and your opponents') and whacks someone for a ton, then leaves you with an enormous flyer. (Also auto-triggers Dark Depths if that's out...)

  • @jayd0lin214

    I slotted Conduit of Worlds into my Gitrog Monster deck. Its pretty neat since most of the combos dont necessarily require casting a ton of spells every turn, its all about lands and mill and dredge and such. I can see it getting play in like Lord Windgrace or other land decks.

    I would play synthesis pod in any deck that really wanted spell protection. It's a great anti-counter ability. The opponent will have to waste a counter to prevent your spell, but then you exile it in response and get whatever off the opponents deck. I think it's insane protection.

    I feel like I see so many people missing what I *think* is the best use-case of Synthesis pod. It's a great counter to counter-spell. If you intend for a spell to go off, and it gets countered or will fizzle, you can add this to the top of the stack for 1 and a tap and still get value out from under your opponents ~counterspell.

  • @roronoa1243

    I honestly think Fire and Ice is in a tier below Hearth and Home and Forge and Frontier at this point. People remember when it was really really good but I don't think it holds up as much anymore. It sort of acts as the gatekeeper sword where a new sword has to be better than Fire and Ice to be able to hang with Forge and Frontier or Hearth and Home, but it itself is not in the same tier as those.

  • @psachickennugget8617
    @psachickennugget8617 Před rokem

    I believe with synthesis pod, one way to use it is when a spell you play is about to be countered, when the counter is on the stack, you synthesis pod your spell so that instead of the wasting X mana, you waste your opponent’s counter and get something from their deck instead. Just what came to mind when I saw this card.

So yes! Josh is right on the money, when you don't have many important Creatures, TEW is an amazing tool to have around, since most decks care about ETBs nowadays and the Samurais can be quite deadly with any type of pump or equipment thansk to Double Strike.

Good targets would be wheels, etc. to get extra value while putting a 4/4 flyer for 3 red down as that deck always has a full GY. Verinclex + Vraska = Instantkill: Vraska enters with 12 Loyalty Counters, immediatly ultimates, then puts 18 not 9 Posion counter on a player to kill them. If you now in a Deck with at least Black and Green can blink booth at the same time, you can take out all 3 players in 1 shot.

    I agree that the mites from white suns twilight loose points for not being able to block. But in my unlockable token decks, it's another wincon if not dealt with. The decks main focus is to get combat damage triggers, so I'm replacing it with martial coup which was in the deck. The life gain is extra gravy for me, I'm using lifelink as a main combat damage theme anyway.

      @@jeffreylong1478 I just added it. I have only played it once, but it was fantastic. I have a lot of untap effects in my deck. When I played it, I had untapped Kane 4 times earlier in the turn, so I got 5 copies. I took control of 4 commanders (one partner pair), and stole one more thing from my opponents. My copies were kept, and I let their commanders die to legendary rule just to tax them. Though in hindsight, I would just keep them and force them to kill them if they wanted them back. If they had played non-legendaries, it would have been an even bigger blowout. I love the card so far.

      @@jeffreylong1478 Also, it's a lot better than mass manip. half as many blue pips in the mana cost. and it's only X, not XX. Yeah, you can't steal planeswalkers, but if you steal everything else, you can attack and kill the planeswalker since you steal the blockers, or you just take their creatures and attack face. Player removal is best removal.

    I think Green Sun’s in a Magus deck is powerful. Tap One Green and 3 other mana, then tap Magus for two more. That 4 mana from lands = draw 6 select creature & land and put in hand or battlefield then draw another 6 and put creature & land on battlefield or hand. Most likely you will ramp 2 and get two good creatures from only 4 lands.

    Ichormoon Gauntlet: I feel everyone was looking at it wrong. If you are running a planeswalker deck, it can be good to get another card up to where they can use a much needed minus ability. It is also useful with Oil and Lore counters.

    I sometimes have cards in my hand, that are simply dead in some situations, since i focuse on playing my opponents cards anyways.
    And for obvious reasons have a lot of ways to play with the top cards revealed and top card manipulation in there anyways...
    so yeah... might be okay... but still a lot of mana/life and setup...
    But can be crazy good if you know your opponents decks to an extent: If they have an Avacyn somewhere in there, and it's their only 8 cost for example.... youcan go for it.

It's a combo board wipe/token generator. That with the other synergies in the deck make it viable. Unfortunately, I think it's only good in this kind of deck. Sad really, White needs more general use options.

    I think they might be undervalueing Venerated Rotpriest just a tad. I think it's a great include in dedicated poison decks because while it doesn't protect your creatures it makes targeting them scarier. 1 poison counter for every bit of targeted removal they want to play is a legitimate step closer to your victory. Imagine if it said "Deals 4 damage to target opponent" instead.

    A friend and I then split a set booster box, and he opened a fat pack as well. He got a blight steel colossus from his fat pack and from one of the set booster packs! All in all, that set booster box had 7 mythics. Blight steel, showcase Vraska, showcase obliterater, sword of feast and famine, mondrak, tyrranax, and one more I can’t remember. Insane value. I wish I hadn’t split this box with him haha.

    I definitely think Venerated Rotpriest has a place in infect decks--I play an Ezuri, Claw of Progress infect deck that runs it and it loves effects like Open Into Wonder, Thrive, Silkguard, etc. It really helps with stacking poison counters and I'm never unhappy to draw it at any point in the game. Very flexible both as a wincon or as a way to just get the poison counters started so you can proliferate them, similar to a T1 Glistener Elf. At worst it gets me an experience counter and one poison counter on someone, at best it wins the game.
