About rear brake hose. It's a good idea to put foam around the brake hose before routing it through down tube.
Then we enjoy the silence when riding 😊
That should be mentioned in this tutorial 😉

About the brakes, I prefer the British setup because it's the same as motorbikes, which I am used to !

Please consider the extra cost of junction and cabling so you can connect the levers and update their firmware, which is most certainly needed. This is better done off the bike before installing the groupset. I have done it before installing my dura ace and now i should it again as a new firmware is available.

Hey, how's your YOELEO R12 going ? Are you switching to a new frame for your ultegra di2 build ? Thanks 😊

@@Mozillarum hi, YOELEO R12 is fine, no new issues occurred except for those I described in my review. I recently completed the Winspace Agile build on Ultegra Di2, so I will start riding it. 😊

Thank you for the Vid. I just ordered a Elves Eglath frame, and will be doing my first di2 and disc brake build. I ordered the Ultegra, but I am sure the process will be the same. Will keep this for reference.🚲

The 105 calipers really aren't much heavier than ultegra and look nice in the black paint.

    A thing to mention:
The olive comes pre-placed inside the shifters. So if you're just swapping shifters, MAKE SURE TO TAKE IT OUT

11:59 This bothers me in this video un multiple places and many others. The presenter has greased the locking nut and the tighten to 40 Nm. But, tightening torques are always specified for dry threads, not greased or oiled. Much of the tightening torque goes into overcoming the frictions in threads. Lubing the threads reduces the friction and therefore larger part of the torque goes into tensioning the bolt itself. The difference is not negligible, it can be up to 200% in tension (need a quote). For some bolts this is overtensionig them. The exception are bolts, that are always lubed, like oil drain plug bolts, or bolts immersed in oil. So, instruction should be clear whether this are dry torquing bolts or wet torquing bolts.
I myself, have in the past made the mistake of lubing the bolts andthe applying the torque. But luckily those were the bolts with large margin of error like car rim bolts. But else where where things are pushed to the edge of elastic deformation, like conrod crank arm main bearing bolt or engine head bolts, such mistakes can be catastrophic. I don ot know how critical things are on bicycles, but it would be nice to be clear o that.

If I’m upgrading from 105 12 speed mechanical to ultegra Di2, do I need to change the hydraulic brakes or just the shifters?

Hmm I just received a complete R7170 groupset, and there doesn't seem to be pre-installed brake olive in the shifters. Removed the screw completely to be sure.

You don't need to bleed the brakes?

Drive on the wrong side of the road, put your brakes on the wrong side of your bars.. why do you have to do everything backwards? 🤪

What large torque wrench do you use? That seems to be a fair price for a torque wrench that exceeds 5-10 nm

No break bleeding required? You mention that there is mineral oil in the hoses, but doesn’t cutting them insert air into the system?

    • @petef15
      @petef15 Před 6 měsíci

The ends of the hoses have a sort of plastic seal which is broken when you connect them to the hoods. I'd recommend a bleed anyway but it isn't required per se.
