In a slightly biased fashion I'd like to remind people of Kalpana Chawla, the first woman of Indian origin to go to space who also sadly perished with Columbia. She was one of my first role models growing up as an Indian kid seeing someone achieve something so amazing internationally. The Columbia disaster made me cry as a kid and I will never forget that day.
