    We did Medano several years ago but started in Great Sand Dunes NP... a fun trail. The sand was so hot the day we were there you couldnt walk in it barefoot

    You bring the Land Cruiser along for when the Jeep and the Disco break down? ;-)

      lol, we got a few looks for sure. Normally you see all jeeps or rovers grouped together and occasionally yotas running in packs, but rarely one of each. This run no one needed rescuing ;-)

    Spanish word ( me da no ) means dune /dunes. The pass that leads you to the dunes / Sand Dunes.

    LOOKS like a great drive. Any camping restrictions?

      Thanks! There designated spots along the trail once you enter Great Sand Dunes National Park, outside the park there is dispersed camping near the top of the pass.

    What month of the year was this? I read there isn't much mud or water except during peak summer months.

      This was recorded early September. That being said, I've run this trail three times and the conditions vary depending on the weather in the past week more than anything else. Recommend checking out bushducks.com/tripreps/passopen.htm#medano for the most up-to-date status

    2019 Ford F150, 6inch lift and 35's would be alright for this wouldn't it? I'm only worried about narrow sections.

    • @OverlandTrax
      @OverlandTrax  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you for watching, I camped this trail past weekend. The trail is narrow, but I saw several other F150s on the trail that weekend. However, you're most likely going to get a little pinstriping due to vegetation on the side of the trail. Please keep in mind this trail is single lane, very narrow in some spots, and bidirectional so be ready to backup in some doggy spots due to oncoming traffic. If your not comfortable with driving in reverse off-road or concerned about light body damage I would not recommend this trail...
