The plan is for the group to separate the royal guards from the king so Netero can fight him at midnight the day of the selection. Everyone is doing what they can until then to reduce casualties, deter the selection, and take out chimera ants. There’s 9 days until the selection. The plan is still very much in motion.
I LOVE Gon using that huge shout to fuck up the bat. When we were introduced to Uvogin, he was a cool physical threat for Kurapika but secretly Togashi was showing us what a master enhancer looks like and the potential Gon has. SO to see him use a Uvo move is so cool. Enhancers are simple but because Nen is fun, their abilities can be used in an interesting way.
Gon will be better that Uvo in a few years

Even when they trained with Wings, we already know that both Killua and Gon are the MC of the story. What was that, 1 from a billion people or something? I forgot.
@@rainscents other then the fact that the villains are actually stronger then the MCs anyway and so are the side characters. Meruem, Chrollo, Hisoka, Silva, Ging, Beyond Netero

I think you're right about the momentum feeling lost. This is a popular complaint about the arc. Some people are giving you pushback by claiming this new buildup is important - and it is important - but that doesn't mean the momentum wasn't stopped. If Togashi had to rewrite this arc then I bet he could streamline and make the story flow much more smoothly without actually losing anything.
The tripwire tension of the entrance to NGL where people dont know whats happening is delicious. The palace invasion is masterful on all fronts. It is the in-between that suffers because it has to do the work of introduction, exposition and setting. And there's so much to set. And its important to why the finale pays off the way it does. I personally dont even know how to change it to "gain but not lose" tbh
Definitely enjoying the arc. But like you said, it’s the killing of the moment that can be disappointing at times! We know there’ll be plenty of peak moments later on, but its more about the flow as you said

@@CarlieAndAngeI think if the payoff wasn’t as large as it is I would be more upset about how it’s paced. But yeah getting this this part of the arc my first time through was a bit rough. Every time I’ve rewatched it’s been a breeze tho

Yes! Knuckle and Shoot are definitely mirrors to Gon and Killua's dynamic. It's actually fun to see shades of how they might be as adults, although of course Knucke and Shoot are not entirely identical. That's actually my one wish for the manga, rather than the expansion of the world, I would have preferred a significant time skip just so I can see Gon and Killua older.
I actually love the way this arc is paced Ik this is an unpopular opinion I just like it for some reason lol

The key is how the three groups are reacting to the reality of seeing millions of innocents die. Knov and Morel, the experienced professionals, are sticking with the plan to the letter. Knuckle and Shoot are acting, but at an individual ant on the fringes of the border, so unlikely for it to jeopardize the plan. Gon and Killua, the youngest and most inexperienced, are directly interfering with the King's plan, and completely giving themselves away.

2:04 it hasn’t been confirmed, but a lot of people think she has bunny characteristics with the fur and a tail (I guess it’s a little more obvious in the manga). Clearly she’s super humanoid though so it’s harder to tell. When I first watched, I thought she was supposed to be part blobfish because the little guy on her head reminds me so much of one lol

The problem with the Chimera Ant arc is that it really is simply too long and its inevitable that there would be dips because things need to happen and we cant always be up and up or else there would be no tension. Again, it really is necessary, and the ending makes it worth it, but this is still why Yorkshin remains the best arc overall, at least for me.
I am more of a higher peak= higher enjoyment kinda guy. The Chimera ant arc is like a slow burn which needs you to be patient in order to get the highest peaks of the series. Most of the best moments of this show are all in this Arc.

Like Gon's Rage, Netero vs Meruem, Netero and Meruem's death, Killua's godspeed, Human ant comparison like it's all just so perfect.

Yeah this arc is definitely really long and variable in terms of ...pacing ... The strong part definitely is about to begin but yeah i've always felt like this whole phase before we really start focus on the king and all is just .... really long xD

Its not just a scream either. Gon is an enhancer, we were hinted about how a strong enhancer fight before, when Kurapika vs Uvogin. The same concept that an enhancer fight with enhancing their fist or kick or body, they enhance either their vocal chord or something to create more powerful scream.

The biggest criticism I have of reactors is the need to look away when information is being given to you, that’s how you always miss key things. Gon did not use Nen to shout, it was just a shout to mess up ultrasound of the Bat.

I think there is also a lot to enjoy about this arc and focusing too much on what could have been done better will lessen the experience.
When we were saying this arc is too long, it doesnt mean we arent enjoying it or anything. The same thing with how they try to remake One Piece into less convoluted beginning ppl still think Romance Dawn is a very good saga and nostalgic. But there are many filler like scenes here where i do think if they just take it out, it doesnt matter much to the story overall. Nonetheless, this is a very good arc, but i always skip this part lol
@@rainscents yeah I don’t mean to discuss that opinion, I just think they should watch the whole arc and discuss opinions on pacing after. There has only been shitting on the arcs weak points in the comments for the last five to ten episodes.

This arc personally had me lose interest mostly due to the pacing - also I never understood why they didn’t have every hunter on the planet fighting this global crisis
This arc definitely suffers from arc fatigue, but it still ends up great

@@brunhilde4334 The first time I ever watched this arc, I thought it was bloated. I still think that. Sooooo much of the Chimera ant stuff from the invasion onward could have been cut, or reworked to take up less air time

He’s sexually attracted to power. And he doesn’t care if it’s coming from machi or gon.
I don’t think Hisoka has a regular sex drive. I believe his whole existence is based on the drive to prove himself against powerful opponents - so his sex drive also manifests itself as attraction for power and potential.
Just treat him like a normal character and forget it 😅😅😅
