komugi is badass on her own way
The action Mereum was ashamed of was not taking off his arm, but trying to win through mentally offsetting the gungi player by offering her a wish and threating her taking her arm. Every other normal person would be afraid and confused therefore not playing to their best, but when mereum heard that she is always putting her Life on the line, he was ashamed of the fact that he was trying to win by basically cheating, therefore taking his own arm as an appolgy for his try to cheat.
Its this point we see him, not only admitting for doing wrong but also having "moral" or something of "honor", the moment as u said he basically became a bit human.
Also, this honor part is tied with his current superiority complex. It's not that it's a morality thing for him, it's that winning like that is beneath the pinnacle of creation that is himself.
Yeah he is a superior species and the pinnacle of that aswell and he sees her as a weak and despicable human yet he attempted to win against her by cheating and using everything he can against this "lowly creature". He got his ass beat so bad he tried to find shortcuts and win through other means which is pretty much admitting defeat and komugi being so based and having this much resolve made him aware of how cringe his behaviour actually is and how he insulted her and their contest and his own honor aswell so he punished himself while also trying to amend through the gesture of ripping his own arm of.
Gotta understand meruem is still pretty much a baby in terms of development. He was born merely days ago

I have to agree with Carlie about the chess situation. It was the same for me back in high school when I played chess, and also occasionally with other strategic minded activities. When you think about something so intensely for so long, you can start to imagine other situations in the same terms as that game/activity. I'm not sure how common that is, but I have heard a few other people reference something similar happening to them.
Lots of anime also seem to reference this, my favourite being code geass
one time I played Sudoku too much and I was on the bus looking at all the empty seats as empty cells and trying to make it make sense as a puzzle. I took a break from Sudoku after that
That is because to perform those activities, you need to have a certain mindset while doing it. And if you spend most awake time doing it, it is natural to shift your natural mindset towards the one of the game. Usually people that are multitalented, are so because they can change between multiple mindsets depending on the situation or activity. A more simple example in the same anime is Killua. He is capable to trigger at will the mindset of an assassin. But since he refuses to be one, this is not the mindset he keeps during his daily life.

For Komugi The Gungi Girl's age, it's never been confirmed but most agree that she's around 16-18 years old since she's been a Gungi pro for at least 10 years and Pouf refers to her as "onna" which generally means woman, rather than as a girl.
I agree that she does come off as a lot younger though.
I would say she is between 17-21. I have seen that many people find it strange that Komugi looks like a little girl, but that is not unusual in countries with extreme poverty. I had at least three classmates who suffered so much malnutrition during their childhood that even when they reached 30 they still looked like 12-13 years old.

Can we say that Meruem had already softened a little bit when he suggested to take Komugi's arm if she loses? Like, the plan was to kill her once she's lost a single match, just like all the players before her..
He wouldn't want to lose her just after one match. He wouldn't ever think about something that will mean ending her in reality. Also he respects her already to know that one lose if if it did happen, wouldn't mean he has nothing more to learn from her.
@@damesayo4656 that's what I mean by softened a little bit. To him, power was absolute, and once he defeats her, she's not worth keeping alive anymore.. But he started realizing that that's not the case (he's still not aware of it though, which is why he's frustrated)
The arm scene is one of my favourite interactions in the entire show.

24:52 I totally get what Carlie Is saying here. When I was playing the "Skate" game series on PS3, I would look at my surroundings and see objects to jump over or do rail grinds on.
Mind you, I never actually skateboarded in real life, but playing those games constantly changed the way I saw the world.
I've had a similar effect from Assassin's Creed games. Sometimes when I'm in an exterior space with lots of building around me, I try and picture how I would climb up the outside of them to reach higher points, even looking around to see where the highest viewpoint is!

@@conjon4918 not when considering he made it in like 10-15 seconds whilst running down steep hill… I’m pretty sure a decent ghillie suit can take up to multiple days to make depending on convincing they need it. (Also they have to gather all the material themselves, usually having to do it from the same sort of are that the mission will be in because you need the same sorts of plant life that’s found it that specific area)

Something to think about: This is basically Komugi's Nen. She's unconsciously set a condition similar to kurapika that if she loses even 1 match, she would die. That's why the King couldn't beat her.

He’s sexually attracted to power. And he doesn’t care if it’s coming from machi or gon.
I don’t think Hisoka has a regular sex drive. I believe his whole existence is based on the drive to prove himself against powerful opponents - so his sex drive also manifests itself as attraction for power and potential.
Just treat him like a normal character and forget it 😅😅😅
Well Hisoka asked Machi out and he didn't mean a battle to death when he said having dinner.XD He has show attraction not entirely related to power. Yeah he is indeed a battle maniac but his attraction towards power leads to the climax that in his case is killing the source of the attraction.

It would seem that Hisoka's "preference" is immensely *more* off-kilter than the average person can fathom.

@@comeatmebro8120 he never stared at their butts, they thought he was doing it because he is creepy, but in the manga it’s shown his perspective, he was staring their full figure.
@@Kal911 Its shown his perspective in the anime too, and the camera zooms in on their butts from his perspective so that's what I'm going by. Either way, its pretty gross to be eyeing the figure of children. I don't see how that helps the claim that he's not into kids
