  • Suzuki Burgman 650 transmission oil change.
Use only transmission oil 10W40. Do not use regular engine oil or synthetic engine oil. These oils have friction modifiers which causes the clutch to slip.

Absolutely invaluable information, thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge. I’ve just put a deposit down on a 2011 Suzuki Burgman 650 executive and although it’s got a full dealer service history on it from new to now I’m afraid it’s going to be getting home service from now on, or at least oil, filters, plug change, coolant change, and brakes and wheels by me. Anything above that may have to be dealer with dealer prices. I’m bike’s through and through have been since 1976 but knees and back now force me to reconsider my choice or stop riding. I’ve just let my Suzuki Bandit 1250 go, which breaks my heart, but I’ve big hopes for the Burgman

You can lean a disposable cup on the center stand to catch the oil from the oil level hole

You are correct about friction modifiers damaging wet clutches. However, Rotella T6 is full synthetic without any friction modifiers. I have used this for years in my Honda Gold Wing with over 140,000 kms on it. I personally consider this oil to be the very best for motorcycles and will use it as well in my Bergman when I pick it up from the dealer in the spring.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Unfortunately we don't get Rotella here in Australia. I used an Australian made fully synthetic oil and it started causing issues.

@@rockyp3917 Find a local oil without friction modifiers……do a Google search

@@rockyp3917 Being synthetic or regular is not the issue. The problem occurs when the oil you choose has friction modifiers in it. Looking at the circle on the bottle, you will see writing all around it for regular oil. Oil without friction modifiers has no writing on the bottom half of the circle. This is the ONLY oil you should use

Could you just pump the oil into the level plug hole ?
