Derms & plastic surgeons use it for healing, right on top of stitches & areas they freeze. I love to hear Dr. Dray say vaZ-a-leen. Her skin is beautiful.
I use eucerin aquaphor when I'm slugging at night and then wash my face just with water in the morning it helps with tritinoin peeling and dryness amazing 👏
Aquaphor is great, but it’s 5 times the price of regular petroleum jelly. Aquaphor is just petroleum jelly with lanolin. I suffer from eczema, and will go through a jar of either Aquaphor or Vaseline quite fast. Vaseline is just as effective as Aquaphor without the risk of developing an allergic reaction to lanolin, and you’re saving money.
I needed to hear this….it was me!!! Lol, thank you. I kept wondering if I was leaving it in too long…even though when I was a kid my mom never had us rinse it off.
I’m also confused that people apply it.. just to wash it off! That means they are using too much or don’t have a clue how to apply the petroleum jelly!
@ashlynm997 Apply a generous amount but no more than 1/2 pea size for face. Rub your hands fast to apply heat, then part the area you want to apply with the greased hand. If it’s still thick on palms remove excess on other parts of clean body (skin). When apply to face take time and massage with your whole hand, to evenly spread the Vaseline. Keep applying with gentle pressure.
There are many products without the petroleum, if anyone is interested. I use Alba’s Un-petroleum, multi purpose jelly. Fantastic stuff. Cleans and moisturizes. I still remember you releasing a debunk video couple of years ago about petroleum jelly where you said that it's safe to use and I've followed your advice since. My skin is sensitive and can get super dry and with the amount of different moisturizers and brands I've used all these years, Vaseline suits me the best!
I stop using petroleum jelly on my skin because it darkens my skin & it gave me white small bumps. I just use it for cuts. I don't use it on my lips too. It makes my lips purple ish or brownish.
It was refined after the guys on the rigs used it for the cuts they got on their hands. It’s completely safe. My grandmother used it nightly after her bath and when she passed at 85 her legs looked like a teenager’s legs.
Soooo.... after trying literally dozens of skin care products for sensitive skin and STILL having red, dry, patchy skin... I had someone give me a jar of the original Albolene cleanser and told me to use nothing but that on my face and it would repair my skin barrier that had been trashed from all the cleansers etc. In 3 days my skin looked so good i didnt need to wear foundation. I was a huge skeptic... she told me NOT to use a foaming cleanser no matter how bad i wanted to. Just Albolene, wipe it off with a tissue and thats it. No water needed. Of course my face got wet in the showeŕ but that was it. Who knew the stuff my grandmother used (and I'm 55 yrs old) would be the secret to restoring my complexion. Best $9.00 I've ever spent!
Whenever I used to wash off Vaseline from my face; it took like 3 4 different things to wash it off and left my skin way too dry than it was before. Thanks for the tip.
I’m still confused as to how this was recommended to me. I’ve been using Vaseline all my life. Which I truly believe has made my skin youthful. A few months back, when buying my groceries, including alcohol! The man on tills asked for ID and was shocked to see I was born in ‘93 Went call his colleague to double check 😂😂 they literally thought I was 16/17 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is why us blacks can be in our 50's and still look 30 and even older with marvelous skin . Vaseline has ALWAYS been the go too because our great grandmother's couldn't afford drug store creams and if they could they wouldn't because they were fine using Vaseline. We have truly been BEAUTIFULLY BLESSED with good skin ❣ 💯

I use vasline when my neck gets really irritating from tretinion, it's been almost two year I use tretinion but my neck still from time to time gets really red and irritating. Vasline, in this case, works like magic.

I use so much Vaseline I keep them in business! 😆😍 Love it! My north Philly peeps swore by it & turned me on to it! I’ve also converted friends to use it too & we all can’t live without it. I had no idea of the stigma attached to petroleum jelly. No name petroleum products I feel are not as hydrating. But that’s ok because a little Vaseline on damp skin goes a long way! It’s extremely protective & a great aid to help heal cuts too😊😉🙌
I’m 56 and have used Vaseline to remove my eye makeup since I was 13. I look at least 10 years younger than my age and I have attributed the Vaseline to that in a large way. I have used Johnson’s Lavender Baby Wash as my facial cleanser for 15+ years as well and I think the gentleness of that wash has also helped my skin.
That is my go to must have in my home. I been using Vaseline for over 50 yrs. That’s my daily use. If you get out of the shower/bath while your body still damp rub some on your over your body it makes great moisturizer.
My mother used Vaseline on her face every night. She lived to be 86 and her skin was beautiful. She used it to remove make up and used it like a face cream.
I've used Vaseline all over my body, hair, face, skin, it's an excellent moisturizer!! I've been told I look younger than my age!! Vaseline with cocoa butter is the best!! Keep on sluggin'!!!! 😁
@searchindex3438 slugging is when you use vaseline or a product like cerve healing ointment which is vaseline all over your face as a last step in your skincare routine. It's especially great for dry skin or just amazing for winter months too.
Its a PETROLEUM product, a nonrenewable resource...and not something that is part of my physiological makeup. It has its uses, even in medical applications, but I don't put it on my face at all, ever, I'm turning seventy this year, and easily pass for forty-five or fifty. What I put IN my face is far more important to me.🙂 I get those benefits she is talking about, by using my diet, upping how much healthy foods containing omega-3s I eat...things like salmon or other deep water fish, greens, walnuts, seeds... plus, I was taught from my youth that we hydrate from the inside out. So I drink more clear WATER. In fact, it's about the only thing I drink anymore, 9 to 12 cups a day... though I will occasionally drink a little fruit juice... Everyone has to find what works for THEM, though. In my book, its a big experiment for all, because our DNA is unique. We each have to find what works for US to feel and look healthy and full of life!
Yes. I have them here in my cabinet. It's great for the skin. I use it a lot on my feet. All day beautiful feet and those dry areas. Thank you for this.
My concern about that is the fear of slipping and falling. Once you get that on the bottom of your feet, it is very dangerous we’re talking about petroleum just my opinion I’ve heard so many stories about petroleum jelly and what it’s made of I’m confused I don’t know what to say anymore.
Sorry to disagree, but I used Vaseline for eye makeup remover for years, until one day when I visited the eye doctor due to severe itching of the eyes. He told me the Vaseline was holding pollen next to my skin, which was causing the irritation and recommended I use baby shampoo to remove eye makeup. Since that day I’ve followed his advice and have almost no issues with itchy eyes. I do use eye cream to moisturize once I wash my eyelids.
My Doctor put me on Urea cream and it contains Propylparaben and Methylparaben and I know they are 2 substances that aren't congenital to skin care. There is also alcohol in it and it's made my skin in a terrible mess. So I am better to apply what you have suggested to my skin, as I have read your comments and it seems to use Vaseline. I am going to try it.😊 Thank you 😊.
Grease an oil attracts dirt, bacteria piggybacks on dirt ..the same dirt that gets stuck to oil or Vaseline..try not to think of it as you are washing off the Vaseline but more so you are washing away bacteria from the environment. Then afterwards you reapply the Vaseline. Stay clean
I use the Cerave baby healing ointment every night on my skin as my last step, my skin is sooooo soft! Thank you for all of your wisdom Dr. Dray, you’re the reason I have amazing skin💕.
You can put a bit of Vaseline in your palm and mix it with argon oil because argon oil is expensive. I use that mixture to stretch out my argon oil and apply it to freshly washed face and neck and forearms.
I have Vaseline tubes/ tubs all over the house, in my purse in my work bag… 😂.I do wash my face in the morning though because it doesn’t work well with makeup.
Products containing beeswax, coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter and cocoa butter seal in moisture and don't come with some of the risks of petroleum jelly.
I have a serious question and thank you for bringing this up. Is it safe to be putting petroleum in any form on our skin? Thank you in advance for your answer and I wish you well. 🙏🏼🌝💜
Use Un-petroleum jelly made by Alba Botanics. It has the exact same consistency but its made from castor oil and doesnt contrain any petroleum by-products. Castor oil has anti-inflammatory properties and is so much better for your skin.
I used Vaseline on my hair in the 80s for the wet curly hair look (it didn't really look wet though) and it made my hair look a lot better, moisturized. My hair was long, naturally curly, but frizzy. After a few months of using Vaseline, I got a layered cut and when I blow dried it, it looked so healthy and gorgeous. I had to shampoo it twice every time I washed it.
A dermatologist who sells face cream said petroleum jelly is a carcinogen, and shouldn't never be used on skin. It's proof that she was pushing her own skincare line.
It definitely should be washed off the skin. Packing lotions, vaseline, creams, etc. Onto the skin not only clogs pores but gatekeeps odors. Just reapply after your bath/shower while the skin is still damp.

This is the way
What is slugging?
Aquaphor is great, but it’s 5 times the price of regular petroleum jelly. Aquaphor is just petroleum jelly with lanolin. I suffer from eczema, and will go through a jar of either Aquaphor or Vaseline quite fast. Vaseline is just as effective as Aquaphor without the risk of developing an allergic reaction to lanolin, and you’re saving money.
@@searchindex3438Slugging is moisturising of the face by spplying petroleum jelly and other creams at night. (Lay man's explanation)
@@searchindex3438yes i want to know also. What is slugging?
I needed to hear this….it was me!!! Lol, thank you. I kept wondering if I was leaving it in too long…even though when I was a kid my mom never had us rinse it off.
Trust your mom. We black. All our moms had the big jar of Vaseline and told us to get them ashy knees and elbows 😂
I’m also confused that people apply it.. just to wash it off!
That means they are using too much or don’t have a clue how to apply the petroleum jelly!
@@missqt48.....slagging looks pretty thick when put on....how should the jelly get removed?
@ashlynm997
Apply a generous amount but no more than 1/2 pea size for face.
Off topic here, orange is my favorite color and you are rocking it!
There are many products without the petroleum, if anyone is interested. I use Alba’s Un-petroleum, multi purpose jelly. Fantastic stuff. Cleans and moisturizes. If it works on my ‘old lady’ face, imagine how it will affect your beauty routine if you’re under 70! I began late. You’d have trouble identifying me if I were standing next to Keith Richards. My wrinkles are caverns. I’d need heavy duty spackel to fill in the lines and crevices. With all that goin on, I know I’m still a beautiful woman. So are you!! 🙏🪷❤️
Hell yeah ❤
You are kind. 😊 Thanks for the giggle. (Keith Richards... hahaha) Many won't get the reference. 😂 I began late as well and

I have psoriasis, and I use Vaseline on my whole body..... including my face. It works, it's simple and cost effective.
I also have psoriasis. Should i apply vaselin after a body lotion??
I still remember you releasing a debunk video couple of years ago about petroleum jelly where you said that it's safe to use and I've followed your advice since. My skin is sensitive and can get super dry and with the amount of different moisturizers and brands I've used all these years, Vaseline suits me the best!
I’ve been using Vaseline on my face since I was a kid and today at 60 I don’t have one line or wrinkle on my face and I’m taking for my 40s
I stop using petroleum jelly on my skin because it darkens my skin & it gave me white small bumps. I just use it for cuts. I don't use it on my lips too. It makes my lips purple ish or brownish.
Oh wow, I wonder why that happens…
Were you using pure patroleum jelly or patroleum with shea butter?
Are you not afraid it turns the cut brown
@@sowhat7983that’s what exactly I found about and I wonder whether Dr. Dray or skin care influencers know these facts 😯
It was refined after the guys on the rigs used it for the cuts they got on their hands. It’s completely safe. My grandmother used it nightly after her bath and when she passed at 85 her legs looked like a teenager’s legs.
some of the best things for your skin also happen to be the cheapest i.e. Vaseline, vegetable glycerine, Sudocrem etc.
Just a tip, using on and around the nose on the regular will enlarge those pores, try not to use too much in this area
Me looking at your comment while frantically wiping it off my nose😂
As a cosmetologist for over 40 years I’ve used Vaseline for many different purposes great for a barrier between chemicals and skin 👍🏼
Soooo.... after trying literally dozens of skin care products for sensitive skin and STILL having red, dry, patchy skin...
Why did you do that? It must have irritated your skin.
just use an oil cleanser
@@anonym-ex1utyou don’t need to wash it off. That’s the whole point of this video
You are meant to use it after moisturiser to seal it in. Not on its own

Right. We’ve been using it for decades and nobody has been harmed lol.
I’m still confused as to how this was recommended to me. I’ve been using Vaseline all my life.
Which I truly believe has made my skin youthful. A few months back, when buying my groceries, including alcohol! The man on tills asked for ID and was shocked to see I was born in ‘93
Went call his colleague to double check 😂😂 they literally thought I was 16/17 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thankyou my beautiful African sisters
Us whities have too. Never been a secret.
Ive been using it all my life after showering all over body. It has served me well.

When I used vaseline I get like white pimple ,and is so greasy, like I feel dirty if I dont washing off,I heard that vaseline with lemon is good for black spots
I use vasline when my neck gets really irritating from tretinion, it's been almost two year I use tretinion but my neck still from time to time gets really red and irritating. Vasline, in this case, works like magic.
Me too. Helps a lot and reduces wrinkles and sagging on the neck.

I've been using Vaseline for years and I'm 52. I always get compliments on my skin. Never had a pimple a day in my life. That dress and color is definitely you. Beautiful ❤😊
It’s extremely protective & a great aid to help heal cuts too😊😉🙌
Healing Ointment is my “Vaseline”. It’s so underrated! Love it so much. ❤

Love Vaseline. Lately, I've used it to soften my hangnails and bad cuticles.

Vaseline isn't carcinogenic. I doubt you have any basic understanding of the term.

It’s probably not even truly tested for carcinogenic or mutagenic properties 😢…..kind of like vaccines. Research ingredients folks!

It sounds like you're saying petroleum jelly, a gay vaseline
But you're saying petroleum jelly, aka vaseline

Vaseline 👎🏻 | Aquaphor👍🥇
I’m 56 and have used Vaseline to remove my eye makeup since I was 13. I look at least 10 years younger than my age and I have attributed the Vaseline to that in a large way. I have used Johnson’s Lavender Baby Wash as my facial cleanser for 15+ years as well and I think the gentleness of that wash has also helped my skin.

It's petroleum jelly, how puts that on you skin ...it's so toxic...it's petroleum da
Either she knows abt it or pretending she doesn't.
I use it4 jear.
Yawn
@@God_Gift89
Put some socks on your feet overnight after applying petroleum jelly on them. 👍
Stay clean
Where does it end then 😅
Dr. Dray looking beautiful! I’m getting an Audrey Hepburn vibe!
Literally never heard a situation where you intentionally wash off Vaseline.
I’ve been struggling with red/irritated skin on my face and petroleum jelly seems to be the only thing that doesn’t make it worse

You can put a bit of Vaseline in your palm and mix it with argon oil because argon oil is expensive. I use that mixture to stretch out my argon oil and apply it to freshly washed face and neck and forearms.

Products containing beeswax, coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter and cocoa butter seal in moisture and don't come with some of the risks of petroleum jelly.
Exactly what risks? 🤔

I agree. You have to wash it off in the morning, otherwise how do you put on other stuff, like toner, serum, SPF?
