    Another quick update on the General. This video was a lot of fun to make. So glad to see the car is jumping more like the real thing. The only question now is what's next? 🤔Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be cool. Hope you all have an awesome weekend! Thank you all for watching. 👍

      That's a very good thought. I figure I'm going to have to pack down any dirt as smooth and hard as possible since the car is so small. Not a bad idea to do some off road testing, thanks for your comment. 👍

    Balsa wood, or styrene cut into "boards" and glued together.

      yup, 1/32" thick balsa cut+glued into scale size hollow 2x4's.
      "foam board" with paper removed sliced into "lumber" and gently spray painted from 14-16" away to give color without melting the foam.

    Don’t worry about the high quality. The slowmo does it for now. You make a great effort where is needed except the ramp but at least you have a nice ramp to showcase with the car in the air or leaving the ramp. Nice work. Mine is a 1/10 scale and heavy but I may try something later. Got a few mods left. Thanks for sharing. 👍👏👏👏

    For the wood, you can use balsa that is kerfed on one side to weaken it. Or maybe partially glue strips of balsa together to make a wider sheet. Can you make a Mini Cooper S model and props and redo the scene from "The Italian Job" where they are testing the cars for the mansion heist using platforms and stairs and other props?

  • @colossalbigfoot256
    @colossalbigfoot256 Před 2 lety

    Balsa would be a good start for weak realistic wood. You could pre-score like the do in Hollywood with real wood. Be sure you get balsa and not basswood as it’s light, right next to balsa, looks similar but several times stronger. So if you were to oh I don’t know wanna crash through a scale barn.. that’d be my choice. Build the frame from something more rigid, like basswood or plastic then anything you wanted to “breakaway “ use balsa.. try I scored first then I’d probably give some help in the direction you wanted breaks but light scoring on back.

  • @dadsfriendlyrobotcompany

    Higher KV motor, lower torque, but more rpm for top speed. You want lower KV motor for more torque. Like a 3600kv or 4300kv or even a 5800kv will still provide more torque than the 10500kv motor. Obviously the 3600kv or lower like a 2300kv would be more torque heavy than a 5800kv, so the 5800 would be mid balance of torque with decent high rpm available. Possible, the driveshafts will get twisted.
