I am going to see this video again and Mexican the steps you took with your truck. I think I have left a comment before that I have a 1955 1/2 ton with a 235 6 cylinder engine. Also in the works is a 1963 C10 fleet side with a V8. I can not to see the next video.
That brought back memories when I was 10 helping my dad put a Pontiac V8 in a 62 half ton. He bought it with a 6 banger that had a cracked block. So much of what I know today came from working with him on that truck. I washed parts in the back yard in an oil pan filled with gas. No gloves. No mask. That's how it was done back then. That looks like a very clean truck. Thank you for the video.
Yep it sure was done that way in my family as well, we never thought of metal on metal making a spark 😮 Thankfully it never happened, right... Keep On Trucking Brother👍...
Thanks for keeping the orig 6! Anyone can shove new tech in anything - It takes a real man to find, build and restore old parts and engines! If they break down, you won't be scratching your head on the side of the highway waiting for Triple A to tow you! A set of points, and very few tools and you are back running again! 70 - 80 mph if you desire!
Great old 230 I6, older neighbor of mine told me "if it's got compression and no Rod's knocking it will run" Don Austin of Mattawan Michigan passed away, he had one of the last old Selvage Yards in our area. I have to check points rotor & cap in my 63 C10's 292 I6 after putting a different ignition Wiring Harness on it finally turned over last summer. Thanks for sharing Brother Gibs, it was great to hear Big Daddy's voice again, may God continue to bless you both each day... Keep On Trucking Brother Gibs & Big Daddy👍...
@Gibson63. I wonder why they parked that old truck? I'm happy you found it and putting her back in shape and on the road again Brother Gibs. Keep On Trucking Brother Gibs👍...
Nice work as usual. Thinking when the ignition went south he had a hell of a backfire and blew the muffler up. Then probably parked it for a thirty year nap. It has woke up nice!
I knew it would run I have a 63 6 cylinder like yours you can let them sit for ever go out and pour some gas in the carb and they'll fire right up. thanks for the video's learning a lot
If it's an original 1963 C10 engine, 63 was the first year for the New 230 I6 cylinder engine, they also offered for the first time that year the 292 I6 cylinder engine in the 63 C10's... Keep On Trucking Brother👍...
Wonder why it was parked. I'm doing a 63 Chevy Biscayne that sit on the farm for 42 years. I found that the exhaust pipe was smashed flat from the gravel roads it lived on. Of course at the time when you parked a car it instantly became a donor vehicle.
LOL Big Daddy says u r flooding it , reminds me of something my Dad would say to me back in the day , we spent quite a bit of time together messing with those old Chevys. He would say if it’s getting fire n gas it ought to hit n run , maybe not too good though. Man I sure miss him
I have lots of the parts you need to put that back together all the clutch parts alternator bracket etc. you are more the welcome to have anything you need for free I'll ship it to you as well not sure how to send a private message I love these trucks and love your channel would love to help if you want ! Thanks Monte
Thanks a lot man I was looking for the clutch rod bracket that bolts to the block and in up finding one out back so hopefully I’m good to go Thanks again

Purrs like a kitten...nothing like waking up a tired old truck after a long slumber.
Did the same thing to my 63 C30 with a 283. Marvel is marvelous ! Purrs like a kitten!
Man, you just can't kill those old six's.
Incredible job. You are like the C10 doctor. You do amazing things to these trucks.
I have a soft spot for old stepside trucks. I wish mine still had its original 6.
Love it that your dad is still with us, good stuff right there runs good.
Big daddy is doing great to be 77
Awesome work and video.
You can soldier on a new neck on that radiator.
Keep up the great videos 👍
Hard to kill those straight 6's ! Pretty reliable workhorses. Keep it original. Nice.
That sure is a beautiful truck my friend! I am amazed that you can find so many trucks this model! You're a very smart and blessed man my friend!
Awesome! I got excited hearing that old girl fire up.
Looking forward watching your videos. Can't wait till you do your breaks and your clutch, 6 cylinder sounds pretty strong.🇺🇸
From seized for 30 years to running on one turn of the key, congratulations are in order for you! Nice job on that straight six Chevrolet! 😎

Engine sounds great for not running in 30 years. Can't beat those old inline 6's.
Yes it’s running great I idle it down and put a muffler on the back one strong engine
Makes you wonder why they parked the 63 C10 back in the day????
Keep On Trucking Brother's👍...
@Gibson63. it's about the same amount of time for the 327 in our 66 Impala. It will still be a bit, but can't wait to fire it up again.

Yes, I can’t believe this old motor is running smooth as it is just idle it down earlier and put a muffler on it
@Gibson63.
I wonder why they parked that old truck?
I'm happy you found it and putting her back in shape and on the road again Brother Gibs.

Crazy how good it runs . I'd hold on to the other radiator , there's probably a shop that can replace the filler neck .
Way kool. Won't be long, and this one is gonna break your heart. Be well.
I love them Chevy 6s... one cool thing to do is to get a HEI ignition from a later model 6. It's easy and a huge improvement.
love these videos!!! How i miss my old '63! :)
Nice work as usual. Thinking when the ignition went south he had a hell of a backfire and blew the muffler up. Then probably parked it for a thirty year nap. It has woke up nice!
Looking good
Super cool you got it running. Love those Chevy L6 motors. My 71 C10 still has the original 250 engine.
Engine sounds good Steve , Truck Shop in Concord N.C. has everything you need for that truck and not bad prices.
I had one just like it way back when . I would love to have another one . 😮

I have the original gas tank of my 63 in very good condition. If you pay shipping I’ll donate it.

Same. I remember my dad saying, "Awright, bump the starter. Again. Again. Again. STOP!"
You need the ballstud and bracket to bolt up between the clutch bellcrank and the block.
I found the ballstud bracket and spring in needed pulled from another Engine I had

That's a great truck. What is that guitar doing laying in the back of the truck?
When a good song comes on the radio, I’ll pick it up and jam lol
Is that a Martin of some sort?

🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
So you see now
Rochester carb
I wouldn't waste my time on that engine, LS swap it
This is the way. Unfortunately these 6 cylinders won’t keep up with traffic w/o breaking the bank.
Why?..."Don't fix what ain't broke"...These old 6 bangers have been purring along for decades.
Heathen!

A Rear end swap. Put in a 373 ratio off a newer chevy.
It gets a new freeway personality. 😂
nice one!
