Please don't ever worry about the video being too long. I would absolutely sit through 6 hours of explanations for the other HM (and HM-adjacent) rides. Might need a mint julep to rehydrate halfway through, though.
This! ^
💯
Exactly. I need like 8 hour videos to get me through my work day.
I've watched the similarly lengthy Defunctland video about fastpass twice since it came out, and I didn't even think I cared about that.
This much info about the Haunted Mansion? Sign me up any day of the week!
The longer content the better💪
Finally, a full-length feature film of The Haunted Mansion that everyone wants to see!
Good one! 😂😂
You forgot one of the biggest illusions! The illusion that Genie+ is a useful service.
😭 frr
R.. U ... Kidding Me!???....Nope!....The Ultimate Illusion is that of WALTS' Wish in 🙌Full Fruition🙌......Walt said..🙌"I "wanted" a place where Families could have fun Together...etc .etc..🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🤨🤨🤨🤨🤦🤷Those families(avg. 4 person size) that he spoke of .. Predominantly Cannot afford to Enjoy even a 2 night 3 day stay at either Theme park here in America 🙌💯
Genie+ is Iger’s genius idea to squeeze profit out of guests.
They put in a very tiny investment for computers and servers w/ only a little bit of cost to maintain the computers and guests pay their own phone bills to get the data.
The purchase of Genie+ is pure profit. The purchase of lightning lane tickets for specific attractions is also pure profits.
They make more on busy days because they use surge pricing just like Uber and Lyft.
It’s going to back fire tho.
Disney makes the majority of their profit off return guests.
First time guests make you a small portion of the number of guests. First time guests may come but it will truly be their “once in a life time trip”. They wont come back because it was too expensive.
Return guests just won’t come back. I have only been once since the masking and visiting rules were rescinded after the pandemic. My daughter is a cast member. I usually go once or twice a year to visit and 3 or 4 days at Disney was always part of our trip. Did we buy Genie+? Yes but never again. It cost me $60 bucks a day. Not worth it.
The only thing I found worth it was the $15 for Rise of the Resistance. I would have paid it again to ride the ride a second time. Going thru the room with the AT-ATs was amazing. My daughter was grinning ear to ear because she knew how I was going to react.
It should be noted that I saw Star Wars in Theater at 13.
I’m going to Orlando in a few weeks. We have no plans to go to Disney.
Oh and I am a member of the Disney Vacation Club so I could stay on property for close to nothing. I’m not. I’save it for a cruise or Adventures by Disney.
The camels in Frontierland aren’t on a timer. There is person inside.
If you notice, they sometimes aim for certain people, especially attractive young women. Also, people who voice that they hope they don’t get hit by the water.
How do I know? My daughter is a cast member and knows someone who worked there. She almost always gets the water aimed at her. I would expect that the camels have the option of putting them on a timer, this save Disney on staff cost but before the pandemic they had staff in the camels.
I love the Ballroom at WDW. There is so much to see and it is amazing. I wish it would go thru slower or even stop for a bit. But second is the graveyard. There are so many ghosts but I dont like the pop up ghosts. Both my son and I startle easy.
I dont care how they do the effects. I just like the result.
The way you looked right at us on "this is not that" cracked me up. Well played. 😂
Best shattering of the Fourth wall I've seen all week!
I have the firm belief that the haunted mansion is mans greatest achievement. Thank you for giving the haunted mansion the respect it deserves
Oh damn- an hour and a half?! What a wonderful gift for a Saturday morning 🥰
Haunty mansy 🩷
A possible answer as to why the bell is recorded but the evil teddy is practical may be because the bell is hanging from wires while the teddy is static mounted on the back of the chair. Rigging the bell to both freely float and be stable enough to ring on cue may have been a puzzle the imagineers didn’t feel was worth the time to solve given their timeline and the amount of effects they had to complete.
It'd be cool to see a deep dive video into how each of the most advanced Disney animatronics work. Such as the Hatbox ghost, Jack Skellington, the Phantom in the Phantom Manor, etc. Great video!
You deserve a mint julep for the effort you put in here! Great video!
I appreciate you
@@OffhandDisney, How do Mint Juleps taste? I’ve never had one before, and I haven’t been to Disneyland for a while…
@@NatetheProtogen Not quite as good as they did before...
1:03:45 As a writer, the way Prudence Pock died is entirely relatable.
Hear hear!
nothing joys me more than coming to youtube on a saturday and seeing that dallin has blessed us with a 1.5 HOUR HAUNTED MANSION VIDEO 🥲🥲
An hour long Haunted Mansion video. Sign me up! Gonna love this! :D
Please do a video on the architectural layout of the Haunted Mansion!!!
There are maps of the ride layout if you google it, and they definitely are interesting to take a look at. Makes you realize how big of a ride it truly is! As far as the mansion facades themselves go, the only things located inside the actual mansion that you see are the stretching rooms. After the stretching rooms, you enter a much larger show building (which is hidden from view from the outside) that contains the ride itself.
At Disneyland, the stretching rooms are actually an elevator that brings you down to a lower level underground where the show building that contains the full ride is located. However, the stretching rooms at Magic Kingdom actually don't move you to a lower level at all and just have the ceiling moving up instead, after which you just enter a well-camouflaged show building that is very difficult to notice from the outside because of how hidden it is (they even use their own specific paint color called, "Go Away Green" to help hide the show building amongst the natural foliage, which makes it very hard to spot unless you know what to look for). The mansions that you see really aren't all that big; certainly not big enough to contain much of the attraction at all. Hope that helps!
Yes pleaseee
@@-blackcherry3918 Come on man, do it!
The busts in the portrait hallway and library in WDW always hurt my head because l can see how it works but also the illusion at that same time
Same

I sure am thirsty for a MINT JULEP after that
Thank you, my friend.
Have you ever wondered who would watch an hour-long video? Well, I did! In fact, I watched the entire hour of that video. It was quite an experience!
I wish I could spend the night with the ghost we would have a spiritual reunion while we were dying to get out , but I would not leave I would die a little longer😮😅😅😅😅
It's hard to choose a favorite room. I love the Corridor of Doors for that iconic wallpaper and the sense of suspense that it builds. But I also love the ballroom for the full reveal of the ghosts and all the little details and scenes playing out. The only thing I'm sure about is that now I want a mint julep.
I'm glad to see you put more focus on the Disneyland version here, because in my mind New Orleans Square will always be the Mansion's true home. Though maybe that's ironic because it's not like I've ever been much of a mint julep person.
Orlando regular here. My favorite room is actually the ballroom/attic back to back sequence. Between the iconic Pepper's Ghost effect on full display in the ballroom and the eerie story of Constance on display in the attic, it's a great back to back sequence and by far my favorite part of the ride.
My mother warned me about girls like Constance. She said it was all right to fall in love, but don't lose your head over a girl.
There is one effect you didn't discuss from the Mansion, but it's easy to forget (as it's more paintings with yet another subtle shift in how they're done): in the ballroom, you didn't talk about the dueling ghosts and the turning-to-fire effect. There's so many painting effects in the Mansion!
You do great pieces on the Mansion and I enjoy 'em. As a long-time Mansion aficionado who's now no longer anywhere near one of the parks physically, I can still enjoy my favorite attraction from my own regions beyond. Thank you!
Oh, and I also love a good mint julep. But I prefer the very messy beignets.
I dont know how welll long content performs, but at someone who has youtube on while working out or doing more monotonous work (data entry, cleaning up images, consuming mint julep) i appreciate it.
Mint Julip!!!! Very well done! I'm a huge Alice in Wonderland fan and people would think that's my favorite ride. It's my second behind the Haunted Mansion. It's one of the most thoughtful, and innovative rides ever.
My fav is the organ playing shadow in the attic. I love looking at it 👀☠️
Glowing Orb: Dallin i hate to burst your bubble but you talked about a abandoned + haunted mansion holiday effect. The first effect with the glowing attic orb, that is no longer present for classic haunted mansion and is now only used during haunted mansion holiday as Zeros since he has a glowing nose as he is flying inside the attic. I see the orb every year during holiday
Ghost Horse: still winnies at disneyland, Ive heard it .
Fantastic job for the best dark ride ever. I miss when the ghosts at the end of the ride at WDW used to be practical and not a projection. They scared the hell out of me when I was a kid.
I don't get mint juleps often.. but if I did, it would only be paired with an Offhand Disney video. Amazing work as always! This line: "Look at the Hatbox Ghost! What's he doing there? You're not- you're not supposed to be materialized yet.. OH WAIT-" definitely got a chuckle out of me!
This was excellent, great work. Just wanna say since i came across your channel last year, you've easily become my favorite Disney CZcamsr. You touched on some in here, but a video down the line on effects that were replaced would be cool, but may be pretty research heavy
Mint julep. Love your videos and how much detail you put into this specific video. Always love watching another Disney lover.
Mint Julep! I love long videos, and appreciate your work. (I watch/ liste videos on CZcams all day long while I work, so for ME, the longer and more descriptive, the better).
Thank you for all your hard work and content!
Mint julep! Always love anything Haunted Mansion. Been to the Anaheim, Orlando and Paris parks to see the difference. Thank you for the full length study on the FX of the Haunted Mansions. Great job!
Mint julep! Love your longer videos, love the Dallin-verse antics! Best way to wind down and relax on the weekend 🙌
Mint Julep... and yes, I love in-depth & long format videos. Thank you for your efforts!
I honestly had no idea that the eyes corner was a kinetic effect. I’ve rode past it thrice in my life, surely, one in recent memory. I’ve always assumed it was just… a wall. I commented on your video about Hatbox being in front of that effect and I expressed this apparently erroneous assumption.
By the way, I was fortunate enough to be on the Mansion, in the graveyard scene specifically, when it got stopped for whatever reason. It was down for a good five minutes.
Another great Offhand video! It’s great work you do over here and I hope you get recognized for it.
This was a very fun watch 👍. Thank you for the time and effort putting all this together! 🎉
Great thorough and informative video for a classic attraction. Great video and I love knowing how things work, so thank you. Next to Pirates this is my fave attraction, DL version.
Great video! I love the effects that were built but don’t work anymore, too, like hot and cold running chills
Wall-to-wall creeps . . .
Love the video and a mint julip ! My favorite is the attic scene and I love the piano player, thanks for all the spooky insights!
I see them both at the same time, Dallin
Mint Julep! Great job on this one. I have to say the OG mansion will always be superior! Keep doing these videos. I love the HM ones!
This was so well done. Love all the behind the scenes information.
I love these videos! Keep up the haunted mansion content! ❤
25:15 “moving forward now” … immediately cuts to a clip of the Doom Buggies going backwards. 😂
Same at 8:17 😱
Mint julep! Excellent video - we watched the whole thing in 1 sitting. Loved it. Can't wait to go back to the Haunted Mansions now that we know how it all works.
Very nice job. I love watching your videos, but this one is probably my favorite right now.
Thanks for your tremendous effort putting this video together for us. Much appreciated bro!
Mint julep! Fantastic video, one of your best yet.
Mint Juleps are so refreshing this time of year. Good vid. I swung by to look for regular home decor inspo and ended up sticking around. To the end, evidently.
I watched all of this with every detail!!! Thank you for giving my favorite ride all this love, care and attention to detail!
OMG! Great video! You are the next Chef Mayhem! Thanks for all the great explanations. 👍 I agree that the void in the loading area at the HM in Disneyland needs more in it. It’s such a waste of space the way they have it now! They could really put some cool effects in there or something.
Mint Julep! This is actually the first video of yours I've ever watched - I was just rewatching the For Your Amusement podcast episode you were featured on discussing the ride, and then this came up in my recommended! Now I'm going to check out the rest of your channel for sure. Sadly I've only ever been on the Disney World version, and only twice during my first and only visit back in 2021. Honestly from this video I think Disneyland's OG version has World beat, even though I do like some of the additional scenes World has like the conservatory scene and the steps room. My favorite room is the ballroom scene for sure; seeing it for the first time was mind blowing even having heard it described before and how it used the pepper's ghost effect.
Awesome vid dude! Constance animatronic definitely needs to be updated! This vid makes me happy. 😊
Such a great video, really makes me want a Mint Julep. I've never had one before but I am really craving one of those.
Seriously, such a great undertaking! I was excited to watch the entire thing. Thank you for doing such a thing!
Don't know how I've gone so long without discovering your videos, but new subscriber here! You are hilarious and super detailed. I absolutely loved every bit. Thanks for bringing me joy while I worked tonight.
I liked the info in this video. I broke it into parts to watch. It was a lot of work but well done. Thank you!❤
Mint julep! This was the clearest best demonstration I’ve seen of Pepper’s Ghost, thank you!
Love this video, more hour long Haunted Mansion videos please!
This must have been so much work to put this together. Great job. Very much appreciated. Great for my nervous kid too haha. Thank you for this research and effort!
Loved this video. Please do the international mansions next! I’m pretty sure Tokyo is just the older version of Magic Kingdom’s, so some of the older effects could be covered.
This is fantastic! I'm kind of obsessed with the wire/air pop up ghost, because I think it is exclusive to Disneyland (there used to be more of them in the DL attic scene long ago). And thank you for the footage of the wraiths in the grand hall, they are among my favorites.
Candle hall has no strings. The candle holder is mounted to a piece of glass that is mounted on 4 corners by springs. Motor turns and makes the glass rotate behind the mirror frame/wall. Creates a no string effect. The same applies elsewhere. Great video.
Mint julep! Another great video! Thanks for explaining how the tricks work!
Cool stuff! Very nice!
I’m glad this video is so long, every haunted mansion video I’ve seen I’ve put into a playlist and there’s always room for one more
Love starting my Saturday morning with a mint julep and the best attraction. Thank you!!
You deserve a mint julep after all the work put into this video. I enjoyed every moment.
Great video!!
My favorite room is the Stretching Room; it was super trippy as a kid.
Love yr work man!
1:10:00 On to DisneyWorld's Haunted Mansion, and in the conservatory, I can't help but smile with your frequent use of the word Stool, throwing my mind to the _Mystery Science Theater 3000_ edition taking on _The Screaming Skull,_ in which the guy hurls a piano stool at the haunting spectre, actually striking it and it falling over. Crow goes ballistic at this, repeating how the guy "just picked up his Stool and threw it right at him...!"
Awesome video! I plan on watching this many more times! 👻
30:51 I am so glad I’m not the only one who has to say “track switch” like that every time
❤this is my favorite video, ever!! Thanks for all the effort!! ❤
These longer videos are my favorite. Especially Haunted Mansion ones. I watch a little bit everyday while I eat or do little things and I enjoy them so much!
Mint Julep! Great video, my favorite room is either the first conservatory or the ballroom.
Thank you for enhancing my next Haunted Mansion visit. When I know how an illusion is produced, I appreciate the illusion even more,
As for my favorite Haunted Mansion room I need to return and experience the ride again, and again, and again...
Thank you!! Wonderful job!! My wife and I are huge Disney fans. She also retired from Disney about 10 years ago. We love the way you present it. Keep going!!
I'm in east Canada and I didn't expect I would want a Mint Julep so bad right now. The following Busts break my brain too! This is a great vid, super fun and interesting. I like the long and short content, and I'm happy with any content you've made!
Fantastic work! Amazing!
Great video! I intended to just watch a bit of it for now while I ate dinner, and then come back & watch a bit more tomorrow, etc etc. Instead I watched it all in one go. So much interesting info!
I love the vibes of the first conservatory room and then also the attic because both feature creepy versions of well known songs and it scratches an itch
Love that ballroom, thanks for all the behind the scenes views.
Aloha Daylin,
I watched the whole thing and loved it...Graveyard sceen (because when I work at DL in the 70's we sneaked in after practicing for our yearly Canoe Race). We watched the morning start up in the Graveyard..it was so cool...and then got out of there.
Thanks for your work
I watched this whole video and I loved every second of it! What a wonderful job you did, and I appreciate all the time you put into it. Lots of things that I did not realize and I’ve been through this ride both in Florida and in Anaheim dozens and dozens of times since the beginning. Thank you so much for your efforts it makes me feel like I’m going there again.❤❤❤❤
Mint Julep my friend. You did well. Should be proud of that work. I like how you deconstruct these as the how of Disney has always been more interesting than the what.
amazing video!!
please do one for the phantom manor in paris 🥺 the phantom himself is absolutely gorgeous and i would love to hear more about how he works!!
This was an awesome undertaking and it will be a must-view for many years to come. I've been boning up (ba-dump) on HM effects for years and I still learned a lot. As for your question, the stretching room is my all-time favorite. I was jazzed to see footage of the original Marc Davis paintings, which are so much fun. I'm not such a fan of giving them names: for me, the mystery is more important than the explanation. But it's all good... except for the Magic Kingdom Hatbox Ghost, which as you correctly note is a major FAIL. Thanks for another great video!
I've rode the Disneyland Haunted Mansion soo many times and there were some effects you pointed out that I had never noticed! I'm really glad you made a video compiling all the illusions in the ride, i really like learning about visual effects and how theme park rides work. can't wait to see the HM renovations and enjoy a mint julep when it reopens.
Great video! Thank you for the effort it took. Favorite room has to be the hitchhiking ghosts. We would always try and guess which ghost we were going to get. As a kid it felt like a real interactive ride experience. Unfortunately they never handed out mint juleps. Looking forward to your next video.
Mint Julep! I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Have loved the Haunted Mansion at Disney World since I first experienced it as a young boy in late 70’s.
Didn’t ride Disneyland’s version until the 90’s when I went to college out West. Both have their merits and my favorite attraction at both parks.
@32:00 The table rapping.
My "F14 Tomcat" pinball machine has a knocker which sounds quit similar. A coil is slamming an iron bolt against the wooden backbox. Very loud.
Would be easy to fix with standard pinball machine spare parts, which you know, were poular in the good ol´days.
Great video, thank you!
Kind of bummed that you haven't talked about the main illusion of it, that being the ride not being housed in the mansion building, that only serve as a facade. But I understand you had to keep the vide short.
Also I'm glad you mentionned the weird Red, Green, Blue artefact when you move your eyes quickly on the singing busts. I heard it was due to a cheap projector system. It used to be like that in Disneyland Paris, but last time I rode it, the artefact was gone.
I LOVE that zodiac sign effect! Haven't heard about it before, and the way it's mechanical instead of a projection is bonkers.
Loved the video and the Mint Julep! Not too long at all! You could have made it even longer by adding Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris, which has a few extra effects as well.
For the footsteps on the endless staircases, I think it's just lightpanels behind foot shaped cutouts which are covered by a thin white fabric as the carpet letting the light shine through.
I've been watching your videos for years and they always bring me so much joy. Thank you so much. 🤩👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️
I have absolutely no time to look at this right now, but I am scheduling a viewing. THIS IS EXACTLY what has been missing on CZcams forever. I appreciate you, Dalin! (did I spell that correctly?)
Great job!!!❤
Absolutely fantastic work, Thank You for documenting the best ride ever! A MINT JULEP salute to you!
When Dallin uploads, it truly is just as refreshing as a Mint Julep! ^^
The Haunted Mansion at WDW is my favorite attraction, this so well done I loved it.
OMG longform Haunted Mansion video! I keep checking the calendar to see if it's December 25th and apparently, it's not. Nonetheless, I'll take this gift during my birthday month.
Happy early birthday and happy viewing to me! 👻 🎁 🏚
Great job!!! 👻 it’s truly amazing when you think about the number of film projectors used in the Haunted Mansion in 1969! Disney was definitely creating cutting edge technology!
Thank you @Offhand Disney and thank you Patreon members! *doffs hat in gratitude*
