This fight showed why Itachi is the best. They dont outright say it. But before Itachi used the susanoo to free Naruto and Killer Bee. It flashes to nagato’s summons and shows that they has kunai in their eyes. So Nagato wasn’t able to see Itachi’s attack coming. Itachi, without being told it, was able to figure out really quickly that the Rinnegan shares its vision. And that was the deciding factor in the fight.

What I don't get is how people give Itachi all the credit for beating Nagato when he had help from Naruto and Bee. Nagato was literally about to clap all 3 of them until they shot at the core of Chibaku Tensei with their strongest attacks and destroyed it. Truth of the matter is that if Itachi fought Nagato alone it's very likely he would have lost. Itachi isn't weak but Nagato is way too haxed.
