Thats a cool piece of tech for light rail trains (trams). To have in ground 3rd rail for power and in the middle no less. Genius move to be honest.

There are a couple of youtube channels that originate in Instanbul. The kitty katz all seem to have a remarkable innate knowledge of the English language!

Great video as always! I love those wireless trams, though I suspect they are running on induction third rail embedded in the ground which is a tech MORE cities need to adopt for its aesthetic and safety...
Not gonna lie, I'm rooting for Istanbul to be the 2036 Summer Games host despite its less than stellar national government because it's an amazing city that bridges two continents and two worlds both physically and metaphorically... Plus they bid so many times before and they already have most of the infrastructure in place after this many years...

Estos tranvías se ve que tienen pantógrafo. Lo tienen recogido. Seguramente utilizan catenaria y tiene zonas que no, por lo que probablemente van con baterías que recargan en alguna estación.

Agreed about the Olympics. The Turkish government with AKP isn’t great, but luckily the opposition rules the city of Istanbul. It’s a beautiful city and definitely deserves to host the Olympics.

I think it's made by Alstom, in Bordeaux this kind of tram was introduced in 2003

Third rail is old tech. Better to have batteries that can fast charge at every station.

@@Avantime Batteries are way worse for the environment, I don’t think that’s a good idea

Turnstiles for a low floor light rail? You could just go around the thing in the tracks. Hope they still have fare inspections.

very clean looking system, but that shit cost so much more money than normal overhead wires, i understand why most systems dont use it
