    Hello Denis and Martin, my bits have just arrived and i am assembling my version of the board etc.
    Just measured the current consumption of the board at 16 mA @ 5 volts and at 3.3 volts it is also 16 mA as supplied from the 3.3 volt pin on the 4 pin header socket at one end of the stm32411 board.
    It seems that that the voltage regulator on the board can be "backfed" from the 3.3 volt header pin connection without consuming any more current.
    The blue led/pushbutton on the board is happy with the 3.3 volt supply as well indicating the test software is running ok.
    Can i propose to supply the board for option 2 and 3 with the respective external regulators for that option and leave the little choke near the micro in place?
    This would make it easier to complete the project for some of the builders.
    Or is there a special reason to remove the choke?

    I see that the MQ sensor values are influenced by humidity and to a lesser extent temperature. This might explain your "false positive" readings at steamy hot engine temps.
    Do you have any idea of the response times of these sensors?

    • @theGADGETSplaylist
      @theGADGETSplaylist  Před 3 lety

      you are absolutely right about the moisture...it's a consideration...
      I don't have the electronic response times at my fingertips...nor would they matter...the real response time is determined by how long it take for sample to reach chamber...I've modified the water separator since the video...check out images in download folder...and that has sped things up...

    • @TheDerekeder
      @TheDerekeder Před 3 lety

      @@theGADGETSplaylist I saw a temperature correction formula in the datasheet but nothing for moisture otherwise one could add a humidity and temp sensor to the sampling chamber and correct in software if one really wanted exact measurements!
      Actually, I wonder if a humidity sensor would be useful for detecting water vapor in the crankcase or exhaust in cases of headgasket leaks of coolant? The alcohol in gasoline might throw exhaust measurements for a loop though.
      My interest in response times is motivated by a curiosity of whether the system could be used to detect leaks in the intake or exhaust systems? One could use smoke or some hydrocarbon spray as a tracer and sniff around with a air sampling hose.

    • @theGADGETSplaylist
      @theGADGETSplaylist  Před 3 lety

      @@TheDerekeder those MQ-x sensors and analog and digital outputs...
      Most ARDUINO projects you see are using the digital output combined with elaborate "sketches" and targeted at air quality measurements.
      I've used the analog output which is oscilloscope friendly and needs no code/sketches...it is for detecting the presence of hydrocarbons or CO2...no corrections/compensations...
