- In this video I take a look inside of Bernina sewing machines. I look at specific mechanical functions of the machine such as direct current motor system. I also take a close look at the Bernina sewing machine feed system. Bernina for many decades now has successfully manufactured and electronic sewing machine that creates percision stitching and high-quality performance.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Can you remove or lower the music? Your words are far more important. ;-)
Aleeda C thanks for the compliment I'll ditch to background music durring narrations next time
Time for take 2, Chris. Pay attention to the people who dislike the music; get rid of it; it doesn't make you sound hip. Rehearse it three times so you don't say the same thing over and over and don't leave anything out then re-shoot preferably with a lapel mike. Love Bernina; still using my all mechanical 807 almost daily and I'm considering upgrading my serger to a Bernina.
difficult to filter the speaking out from the music. What you're saying sounds interesting but can't really understand because the music is so distracting.
Thanks for the great video. I am contemplating getting a Bernina and now I know why people talk so highly of them. Reliability and quality are high on my list of attributes.
Mr Button email me at info@blakemansewvac.com for more info!
Thanks for the reply. I went for the Bernina B790 from a supplier here in the UK. As it was delivered only a few days ago I am still learning its 'characteristics'! I have watched your video again and it's nice to know what is going on inside. Overall, a superb machine that is hugely capable. Thanks for doing the video, it did help me make my decision.
Mr Button thank you. Please let me know if there is any questions I can help you with!
Very interesting; however, ditch the thumping music, please!
Fantastic video, great technical insight , I have 4 Bernina older, less computerized machines and they are faultless. I get regular servicing from Bernina technicians in New Zealand and teach any quilter//sewing person all the great Bernina features. Please make more videos as I want to keep my machines working the best they can be.
Thanks Chris for making this video! VERY helpful!!!
♥ Bernina ROCKS ♥
K. i M. Jones thanks for subscribing!
Groovin' to your righteous beats. 🎶🤟🥳
GREAT video! thank you so much !
totally loved this video. thank you.
Great video but the music was too loud and distracting..but very informative....I'm just waiting on delivery of my first Bernina..very excited 😊
Just reinforces my preference for Bernina machines. I have the Artista 180. Have not found a reason to upgrade to a newer model yet. I did repairs of multiple layers of denim on about six pair of jeans for a friend of a friend with no problem. Then he said other women tried to repair on their machines (don't know what brand they had) and they could not repair his jeans because of the thickness of the seams. No problem with Bernina! Oh, your music does not bother me at all like it does some of the commenters. Jan
Thanks Jan! BERNINA Rocks!
The music over powers the voice, great presentation otherwise.
You just made up my mind as to which sewing machine brand I should get. Thank you so much
Your welcome SEW MUCH
Thanks you
Great video. would love to see the Bernette B79
Love my Bernina 117K. It's been a while since I've sewn so, I'm trying to get it into shape. I'm determined. I'm looking for any videos of someone of knowledge, (you, for example) working on the vintage machines or demonstrating them. I'm also looking for a table or how someone deals with the difficulty of inserting the bobbin and case if the machine is in a case or on top of the table. Thanks for the great video and demo.
Thanks for watching!
Very informative. Didn't really notice the music until I was reading in the comments and saw all of the whining about it. Ya, ditch the music, but still a great video.
Thank you for information regarding machines. I so much want to know about the 880, but nowhere there is information on how our machines look "naked". I agree with other comments - put background music much softer please
Get rid of the music - please!! Very informative video and well done but I could hardly concentrate on the words.
Marte Keller for sure. I did not realize it was so overpowered
Chris, Very informative video. I actually found this by looking for "bernina 1008 maintenance" as my wife has been to a number of manufacturers' repair seminars for dealers & techs. Bernina is one she has not yet been able to attend. A customer of hers had her 1008 kicked out of the back of a pickup truck by her dog.....you just can't breed out stupid, I guess.... and while Teri (my wife) got it to straight stitch, a black stamped piece of steel about 5 inches long and 1/8" wide, with a small "arm" sticking out a half-inch near one end, was flopping around loose inside. No manual, and she suspects it's from the upper unit that fell down the tower (terminology? the part that housed the flywheel handle and main drive motor) and it was found down by the bobbin and hook assembly. I used to repair large production photocopiers with oodles of moving parts, but I don't know enough about how sewing machines work to reason out what this part might be.
Are there service manuals for these machines, and does Bernina sponsor classes my smarter half might attend to get caught up on this brand? Many thanks from North Carolina. -- Barney & Teri --

Thank you for this usefull information. I was kind of doubting about a computerized sewing machine, since I am afraid the computer/electronics will not last as long as an mechanical machine, allthough the computerized machines are pretty expensive. But the computerized machines have all the features I am looking for in a sewing machine, which the mechanical Bernina 1008 doesn't offer. May I ask which model is used for the video?
Great video, Chris. I'm in the market for a new machine. My daughter just got an Ever Sewn Sparrow 20. Her first ever sewing machine. I understand that the line of Ever Sewn machines are Berninas.. In this video, when you mentioned the various features, you said that ALL Bernina machines, regardless of price point, etc, have these various quality features. That was impressive. Got my attention. I've been looking into the genome HD3000. Read on and you'll see why.
First of all, are the Ever Sewn machines included in all those claims you made in this video?
I do not want an overly complicated computerized machine. I want a machine that can handle heavy work like sewing garden tarps, making heavy-duty work aprons, mending THICK denim seams, sewing clothing using stretch-knit fabrics and mending and sewing light-weight clothing, too. I'm not a quilter at this point. That COULD change, but I have absolutely no interest in embroidery or fancy stitching (except for a solid "over-lock" type stitch that I could use along the edge of heavy fabrics or for finishing inside seams of aprons etc).
I probably cannot expect one machine to meet all those needs... but could you give me an idea which Berninas would work for me given that criteria? Thanks for making these informative videos!
Eversewn machines are not Bernina machines and do not have the quality features that BERNINA machines do.
Thanks for your reply, chris. I did learn that before your reply and set about trying out bernina 330 & 350. I was fortunate to get a classroom 350 for less than the price of a new 330. I am very excited about all the things I'll be learning using the amazing machine. Yes. Berninas are the best!! I'm now looking into sergers under $800. What wouldd you recommend as the best quality in that price range?
ditto on the music. it comes across loud & clear. your voice does not.
Nice video and good information but the music really needs to go away!!
Bob Groh i
Next time I'll make sure the music does not drown out the lectures
Music is too loud
Thanks I'll be uploading more machine videos with lots of info!
Chris Blakeman , can't hear your words!
The music is making it very hard to hear you.
The high-end Berninas are like Ferraris - they do great things but at some cost. They are very fussy about thread quality. They use photo sensors in various places that are prone to getting dirty and malfunctioning. They are more intricate and thus prone to mis-adjustments. Auto-threading of needles is a hit-or-miss. Software updates are a pain - owners are supposed to only use a Bernina USB memory stick for transferring software updates from a computer to the sewing machine. Our 21 yr old, computerized 820 just went into the shop today because the bobbin case popped out of the machine and can only be repaired at a Bernina service facility. My wife’s 40 yr old Bernina still works, so she’ll be able to finish her Christmas sewing.
I have bernin fun lock 003 having trouble with the needle that has the red dot that shows me how to thread it will work right once then it quits overlocking
Can anyone help me
Good technical video Chris, understand now what makes them so unique. But not 'notorious'! That's a negative word. Famous, Famous :) Yes, get rid of the music.
Appreciated the information, but the music was too distracting..
Sorry about that!
The music was too distracting. I couldn't concentrate on the commentary. So I know no more now than I did before trying to watch this otherwise interesting video.

Music is annoying. Why
Cant hear a word your saying
lose the music - can't hear what he is saying because of the music . . .
Could you please remove that annoying electronic background "music"? I can hardly hear you.
Please lose the background music. You have important information to impart, but the background is Both annoying And extremely distracting.
Stop the music, it is so off putting when trying to listen to a commentary. Why do you feel it's necessary ?
Thanks for the feedback
