  • Samsung dishwasher was stuck with the drain running continuously and the "Heavy" light displayed blinking. This is and error code that signals that there is a leak present in the system. This was an easy fix that any DIY can handle. Good luck and thanks for watching!

Samsung repairman checked my sensor today and said he would have to order some parts "if he could get approval". It seems to me he should just order the parts and fix it. He did not lay the dishwasher on its side, but worked on it from the front. I like your way better.

There is some good in the world after all. I want to add my thanks for you sharing this video. I had spent several hours installing a new Samsung with several issues along the way, one of which being a serious water leak. I didn't know it had this feature and was sitting there not believing my new dishwasher didn't work. I didn't see this info anywhere in the microscopic manual. I didn't even know the flashing light was a code. So, you saved me unimaginable misery and time by offering this. Thanks again !

Ours was probably a one-in-a-million issue. A kitchen dish broke and shattered and a tiny piece of glass fell into the door latch, causing the door to not latch. Dishwasher was run, but without the door latched, some water leaked out the door and into the bottom catch pan, causing Heavy error code, with continual draining cycle. Took off front door, removed glass from latch mechanism, then followed your video...works like a charm, now. Great video. Only feedback I would give is clarify the "back" of the dishwasher access panel is really the bottom of the unit. Also, after removing the two screws, a flathead screwdriver helps pop out the press fitting panel.

I appreciate your help my man ! save me a lot of trouble and money too. You are my life saver. Not sure how long this will last ! I hope this will be a last time due to Samsung design flaw according to several comments below. One thing I need to add: after you done, while screwing 2 screws to hold the washer to the countertop plywood, you MUST put the towels to cover the slots at the bottom of washer, to prevent screws from falling to the cracks of the bottom drainage dish. I was so lucky, the screw stuck at the edge of the hole, AND I DONT WANT THIS HAPPENS TO YOU. PLEASE COVER ALL DRAINAGE SLOTS BEFORE PUT SCREWS BACK. GOOD LUCK !

Thank you very much for this video! I have a different model Samsung dishwasher, but the error code, and issue resolution were the same. I found no leaking hoses, but the bottom plate did have an accumulation of water near the sensor. To resolve, I cleaned the plate, and let the unit air dry for 24 hours.
I think that my particular issue stemmed from use of the "Sanitize" feature. We don't typically use this feature, but did so twice in a row, right before the leakage. After resolving, I tested the Sanitize feature once more, and found that it didn't auto-stop after over six hours.

Yes, this fixed my problem too, and it was the second time with this same wet sensor. Last time--about a year ago--I dried it out the same way, but couldn't find a leak. Just removing the little bit of water and drying the sensor fixed the problem until it happened again this week. Apparently it is a very slow leak, which is annoying. Based on how it's been happening to a lot of other people, it's apparently a Samsung design flaw.

Great video, I had the same issue. I was able to dry out the sensor area and get the machine working but several days later it happened again and then again. Every time I pulled out the dishwasher there was a small amount of water but I couldn't find a leak anywhere which was driving me crazy. I tried something different by removing the dishwasher from the cabinet, spinning it 180 degrees so I could hook up the water line again and then removed both side panels held on by two screws each on my model. When I pressurized the water line again I used a flashlight to watch for any dripping. Finally I noticed drops coming from the back side of the water inlet valve (the part that your water supply line connects to) between the solenoid and the plastic housing. I was finally able to spot the leak so I purchased a new inlet valve that was not overly difficult to change (thanks you tube) and that was my issue solved. I'm not saying this is a probable cause but worth checking if you are having trouble finding the source of your leak.
    Good Luck!

@@johnrancifer2092 Hi John, The water valve was leaking between the soleniod (where the wires connect) and the plastic housing. The water had to be connected and pressurized for me to see it drip. You might also try looking at the drip tray to see if there is any evidence of water marks which may give you a clue. Mine has been trouble free since the new valve.

if your leak sensor is triggered by accidental water spill/accumulation, and there is no real leaks anywhere, i found the easiest way without flipping the machine and removing the bottom panel, is to remove the side metal kick panel on the right(two screws), that'd give you enough clearance to reach beneath the sensor with your hand(unless you have a giant hand), use paper towel to dry most of water, this should be good enough to stop the flashing alarm. Then use a hair dryer blowing it with cool air for 5m will make it perfectly dry. Enjoy!

Hey, M S Seattle (my home town, btw). I thought I fixed my problem with the help of your video, but a week later the error went off again. This time a little more water, too. I tipped it to the side and found no wet hose connections whatsoever. Just to be sure, I dried things out, hooked it back up, but did not slide back under the counter. Instead, I ran an empty "load" for a few minutes, watching carefully (with the side panel next to the hose connections off), then had it drain. During the "wash" cycle, I could see where perhaps a couple of drips might have come into the pan, but none of the hoses, or anything for that matter that I could tell from that angle, was wet. After it was finished, I cut the power and again felt all the hoses, and could not seem to find any moisture from them. I tipped it to the side again and could determine where the drips came from. When I followed them up, I realized it was the big, round ring - what I assume connects to the inside bottom of the dishwasher. I ran my fingers around that and it was wet all around it. Do you have any suggestions for that?? It seems it might be a bit harder to fix unless it is a simple seal inside the main compartment of the dishwasher. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

@@adamtwelve I think I ended up calling for service - and probably had to pay for it that time. I hate that dishwasher! I had enough warranty service to consider it to be a lemon, yet they would just fix it - something different every time. I now have some errors from time to time that seem to fix when I turn the breaker off then back on again. Also was ready to replace some little stupid stopper/flapper inside a hose that others have had trouble with, but after putting it back together again, I didn't need to. Probably why I get some errors now and then, haha! But it's been long enough that if I have any more issues, I'm getting a different brand!

@@johnrancifer2092 See my reply to adamtwelve - but I think I had to do a real service call that time. I didn't want to mess with that ring. But I don't really remember.

Well I suppose I will throw my hat in the ring too. I have this same model and it too had the "heavy" light blinking, open the door and it would start to drain. Same problem exactly as shown. I pulled the unit out and there indeed was a build up of water in the tray. The sensor area was full of water and hence the sensor sent the unit into its ballistic light flashing. I am drying the unit out as I am writing this and when all dried I will put it back. I'm sure it will work when I am done. Problem is, I can't see where the water is coming from. I checked the hoses and connections and all look OK. I must be a very slow leak someplace. Thanks for showing this video.
