12% compounding and 12% inflation balance each other out. Buying power of 1000 rupees in 1997 is same as of 19000 in 2023. 12% compounding has retained the buying power.

Your videos are generally very informative and a source of knowledge. However, there is feedback for this one.
1. When you are depicting the impacts of return you also have to minus the inflation. like for first year if inflation is 7% and return is 12 %. Then net return will be 5%.
2. Secondly, the money will not be reduced from Rs 1000 to Rs 62 in 25 years. Rather its actual value/ worth will be decreased. So that needs be clarified.

Wasalam - thanks for the feedback. I agree to your comments. I should have mentioned in the end of the video - but this is to explain the impact of compounding on nominal values. The term should have been used was buying power.
Was the inflation applied on compounding data as it concluded to be 19000 in the end. But what will be the value after the inflation

This is very interesting; if apply inflation to 19000..it remain 1170 ...only a 170 Rs gain in 26y.
It means stock in range 12-15% is a good hedge but poor investment
The good investment is property giving 20+ compunding and otherwise a business

in pakistan stock exchange u r right, but if invested in us stock market and in terms of us dollars, it will have good returns, because u will not only make gains of us stocks but also dollar appreciation in Pak

I know - made it simple to let the concept of compounding simplified. This is on nominal returns - not inflation adjusted.
Impact of inflations needs to be added to compounded values so above video needs to be corrected.

Thanks Wali Bhai, I am 26 years and run a Web design & marketing agency. I am opting for mutual funds for a start my goal is to keep them and focus on my business for the long term, next step would be to buy a few company shares in which I have my own interest, so I can consider them as owning the business. Any advice would be appreciated.
Keep going. Move to stocks in next 6-7 months as soon as you understand things.
Mutual funds are a great passive investment option considering that with a full-time job, we don't have to do much research. Start doing SIP into some individual stocks for a learning experience but I don't invest a significant chunk of my funds into something that I can not actively track, update and rebalance frequently. Do check out some money market and debt-based mutual funds, in a high inflation economy, their returns are pretty good.

Yes, but the example was for nominal returns. Absolute returns can be found by subtracting inflation.

Gold can be invested at max 5-10% for someone outside Pakistan and for someone from Pakistan - I would say at max 20-30% of their net worth.

12% consistently over each year is an unrealistic assumption. If u had considered kse index returns that would have been a great indicator. Real estate seems to consistently beat every other asset class in pk. Great analysis though 👍
12% consistently is piece of cake for Pakistani market :) if you play sensibly.
Jus the the fixed income will exceed this value let alone the stocks. If you want, I can elaborate in another video :)
@@WaliKhan_2k Yes please, because let's say if we consider 2022, it has been a bear market and the stock market has not seen any good returns as per my knowledge. My mutual fund advisor has also advised against investing in equity funds. Please do know that an avg. investor mostly does not have time and energy to do detailed research on individual stocks so most would tend to opt for a mutual fund where a fund manager would do it for them.
@@mansoorjadoon3852 but at the same time t-bills are fetching 16% returns. It has to be balancing all the time. Moreover.. even today.. 20 years stocks long term returns are >17% atleast

Have ambiguity in one thing, in compounding our amount is increasing, but still due to inflation depreciation is there, so need to know the actual value that should not be 19000, like 1000 is 62 rs in 2023 without compounding due to inflation,
so with compounding we can see the actual values by subtracting inflation from compounding every year, here you didnt cater inflation in compounding column.
Like Inflation and Compounding will balance each other, or anything like this
12% compounding is balanced by 12% annual inflation. So buying power is retained.
I think there is some error…when you are compounding @12% but then inflation shall also be subtracted to get the actual figure…. Please have a look and reply for my comments why inflation is not subtracted
You can download the excel sheet and let me know if you find the issue. These are nominal values comparing 1000 pkr buying power over time.
