Thanks for putting this on CZcams as I am going to be rebuilding the exact same carb on my 55 chevy 235/2 speed power glide. I am nervous but watching this gives me the confidence to push forward and do It.

that threaded brass plug that fell out of the bowl is part of the main jet enrichment circuit and should be accompanied by a small spring and ball bearing , they are acted upon by the rod that is part of that plunger that u pulled out.

Simple to work on, and a lot of the white crud is pure lead. Tip for the balls is to keep some white grease handy, and a small bamboo skewer set to use to put them together. Skewers also are useful to clean in the crevices. Just a dab of grease on the skewer flat end then grab the ball, and you get it in the right place.
Depending on how far you go, some grease as well on the shafts of the butterflies ( the screws holding them are going to be really really tight, you might break them removing them, but they do come off and release the butterflies with enough work) and a new set of bushes if the slop is too much ( probably only the main one as that has side loading from the cable side), then put the small little plastic seals on the shaft sides to hold the grease in the bush. If you get the little screws for the butterflies, the new bushes and the shaft seals though is really kit dependant, you might only get part, or have to buy a few kits for similar model carbs to get the full set.
I know the Ford Weber kit came in at least 4 variants, basic with only the seals and the needle and seat, a more complex one with the internal valving, diaphragms balls and O rings, a more complex one with jets as well as the springs and the full ( and often out of stock one of course) kit with all the screws and the bushes, basically the entire carb less the body.
Of course with all of them they covered all the variants, so you often had a half dozen smaller parts left over if your particular one had an automatic or manual choke, or had the performance enhancements for particular ones.

How I love and MISS carburetors! These days the only carbs I get are on lawn equipment, leaf blowers, pressure washers, motorcycles, dirt bikes, and ATVs. So nice working on a big, automotive carb.
Can't wait to see that Chevy rolling down the road under it's own power. That'll be a great day! 👍
