Backpacking Stove Comparison

I’m doing a comparison between the MSR PocketRocket 2 and an Amazon Backpacking Stove. I expect the PocketRocket to perform better, but is it worth the cost? I’ll breakdown the pros and cons, do a boil test, and share my opinion on these two backpacking stoves I’ve used over the years.

Great video. I have the Snow Peak Giga Power Stove and have had great luck with it. When I was shopping I was between it and the MSR. Really enjoy your content.

@@Beyond_The_Treeline Agreed, I have been very happy with my Snow Peak stuff, I have a few things. Good quality and seems to last. Do you have an Instagram page?

@@decoeric definitely. I don’t have an instagram right now. I used to but really prefer telling stories and sharing experiences through video right now.

I also use a small roll of Reflectix insulation wrap as a wind screen which reduces boil time, weighs almost nothing, and helps with the blow outs. Works well if you are willing to spend a little in your pack volume.

The Pocket Rocket also has a pressure regulator which works better for simmering and cooking in different temperatures. The cheap ones are water boilers and good for emergencies, but I don't think it would give you the years of service you enjoyed with the pocket rocket.
