    Of course I'm a big fan of Tony Rice and this rendition. Another rendition of this song I liked was a folky version by Tom Northcott from Vancouver,B.C.,Canada recorded in the mid-late 60's.. Thanks for sharin Tony's music.

      Heard Tom Nirthcott back in the late '60's at my high school, the same school that he'd graduated from. I sort of wish Tom had gotten into the groove of stardom but he had other plans, more power to him.

    Jimmy Gaudreau is one of my favorites. Love him ever since hearing this album years ago now. He plays mandolin and sings the tenor on this song, contrary to some other posts below. John Duffey sings and plays on just one song on Plays and Sings Bluegrass.

    • @guitardudebanjoman
      @guitardudebanjoman Před 7 lety +2

      I agree this sounds more like Gaudreau, but the tenor on This Morning At Nine sounds an awful lot like Duffey to me. I know he also sang tenor on Galveston Flood.

    • @drewby613
      @drewby613 Před 3 lety

      @@guitardudebanjoman That's Duffy singing tenor, no question. I agree the mando doesn't really sound like Duffy. Not scruffy and eccentric enough.

      @@drewby613 yeah the album credits say Duffy played/sang on This Morning at Nine and Galveston Flood.

      @drewby613 Před 3 lety

      @@guitardudebanjoman Sounds like Duffy on this cut, too, but I guess if the album jacket says otherwise, then fine. Is Gaudreau considered to sound like Duffy? I don't really know one way or the other.

      @@drewby613 people always get confused about that on this album. They both sound pretty similar, especially when mixed into a 3 part harmony.

    Actually on this song, Jimmy Gaudreau is singing tenor.... but I agree John Duffey's tenor was awesome on everything that he sang.

    I know John Duffey's tenor.... and he's not singing on this cut. He sings tenor on Galveston Flood from the same album... listen to both of them and you can clearly hear it's not John Duffey singing tenor on this one. And I have the album - so yes I know who's singing on it.
