    I did Mig welding and stick welding some years ago and I want to get back into it. Some of these things I didn't even know about...it seems like a mountain I have to move, but I can't let that discourage me. Life truly only gets harder as time goes by.

    Great video! I've watched the MIG and TIG videos as well. They move along quickly and they are to the point with good information. They work well for students as they get bored or distracted quickly. I'll look forward to a video on SMAW. Thanks, you sold me...I'm subscribing!

    This may have cleared up my confusion of double letters "GS" which I thought was for "gas shielded" and "SS" for "self shielded" and realize that those labels on wire "GS" mean gas/self shielding purpose (dual applications).

    • @alexhb12333
      @alexhb12333 Před 3 lety

      FCAW can be shielded with pure CO2 gas which is cheaper and works fine due to the extra shielding from the flux.
      MIG uses an Argon/CO2 mix which needs larger cylinders and costlier refills. CO2 is reactive at high temps which makes it unforgiving for MIG welding.
