Had a '92 Fleetwood Brougham , which was the last year of this body style, maroon over maroon interior with some gold accents. Great car, I still miss it, like driving a big leather sofa down the road.
Oscar In Asia I'm thinking about buying one of these in my country where everything that is American is almost non existent soooo.. was yours reliable enough?
My Grandpa had that car. I can still literally remember the feel of those switches, door handles and grab handles, the sound of the turn signals loud "clicks', the way the radio station selectors had that solid action. These and so much more, sights, sounds and smells of dayz gone by.
road trip kings for sure. I remember riding in the back of one of these when I was a kid and we drove for 8 hours and the car was soo comfortable it felt like I was sitting on a soft leather couch in the backseat for 8 hours.
American cars feel like sofas in wheels. I just love that fact. I often drive for over 8 hours to visit relatives all over Europe so I bought an American car. Sadly not this beauty. You guys make great cars, really love them!
I would be really happy to own something like this as my daily. Borrowed one and it rode really nicely. I was able to squeeze 27 MPG out by hyper-miling. The cassette player is great so I can use a cassette adapter for music. I wish American car companies would have at least one large sedan like these. Cadillac needs to bring this car back.
This car is a time capsule and a great candidate for a tune up... You could easily unleash that V8 by doing a few tweaks and putting new heads on. I'd keep the patina in the engine compartment because I like it, but I'd definitely put hemi heads on the big ol girl
My dad had one identical to this with the 5.7 liter engine which I believe was available only as part of the trailer towing package. We used it to tow our boat which it did so beautifully and in style.
I inherited my parents' 89 Fleetwood Brougham with 45k miles on it. It spent 18 years in Arizona while my folks were retired there. White with a red leather interior looks awesome. Rides like a dream. Love my Cadillac.
We had two when I was a kid, a '85 silver Brougham D'Elegance that burned down in the driveway, and Cadillac replaced it with a '86 yellow Brougham D'Elegance
Amen to that. Torque is what you need when you have a heavy car. I've got several large old cars and believe me: you feel the smooth torque when smashing down on the pedal ! Modern cars inflate their horsepower numbers by measuring at RPM's that 98% of the drivers never reach ! There is no substitue for usable torque at low RPM's.
I agree with you. My folks always drove a Cadillac Sedan Deville when I was a kid. Super nice car. But the 4 door Continental Town Car of the mid to late 70s with the Opera Lamps in the padded vinyl rear side roof was awesome. And the interior of the late 70s Continental Town Car rocked. Mr. Anderson, I'm warming back up to vintage Cadillacs too.
I remember at the time being so disillusioned with the 'tiny' '85 Cadillacs, and being so grateful GM kept this one 'alive' for so many years thereafter...
+bigkevfromno Your exactly right. The oil crunch was detrimental to the auto industry entirely across the board. Even the 5.7L in this 91 was underpowered. Its a shame that such a great car had some of the worse engines offered during its 12 year production run. However the 5.7L that became available from 90-92 was the best choice ever offered. Minus the engine, these cars here were great and very well built. It would have been so great if Cadillac would have put the Northstar 32 valve V8 in these cars here as they made 300 hp without breathing hard and great torque.
+bigkevfromno - No it wouldn't. Pre 1973 the US car industry was full of shit when it came to power outputs. 1) It exaggerated constantly and this was exacerbated by 2) the industry using SAE Gross Power figures which didn't take transmission losses or accessories such as a dynamo/alternator, radiator fan, water pump etc into account. Post 1972, the US car industry used SAE net horsepower but this still doesn't account for transmission losses. Thus, if Ford or Chevrolet said a car had 400bhp back in the late 60's, it probably had no more than 300bhp and in reality it had 270-280bhp if measured by modern standards. The difference in power between cars pre 1973 and post 1973 are massively exaggerated.
Alex J Spoken like someone who hasn't driven post or pre 1973 cars to know the difference. Yes the method of determining hp changed but power output certainly decreased. Good luck finding someone to stand with you on that.
Of course, you're biased toward your country's own product. Myself, I'm biased toward the beat blend of handling and features, regardless of what country the vehicle was made in
@@Zickcermacity I am not biased at all, Einstein ! I am simply saying that a Cadillac well maintained from the 90's is going to get more looks than a late model Mercedes, which I am driving. It's simply a fact, not a bias.
An absolutely flawless classic! I hope it has a long life because I really miss seeing these cars. This one should win an award at a car show! Great review Kyle.
Just bought a 1990 w/ the 5.7, 82k on it. Such a beautiful car. Im absolutely in love with it. Its academy gray w/ gray interior, and has the nice wire wheel covers. The only way to travel is cadillac style!
I wonder how many people on here commenting negatively have ACTUALLY have owned one of these magnificent automobiles ? I have owned 5 that I bought new and they were gorgeous reliable well made cars and a pleasure to own and drive ! I kept my last 92 Brougham in my garage as I knew these were probably going to be the last traditional Cadillac ever made .......AND I was right. I drive mine on a regular basis and will never ever consider selling it. I have had many new Cadillacs since I bought this one new and none can compare to this cars TRUE Cadillac look and feel including my new C6 Cadillac or our 2015 XTS .
Very true I used to tell people so you like uncomfortable vehicles, why? Besides they get better mileage highway especially than many would expect. It's funny many calling these old fashoned gas guzzlers then go and buy pickups, suv's getting worse mpg for no need.
Back when American luxury meant big back seat, simplicity, huge trunks, straight lines with super cushy ride and not a hint of "sport" anywhere in its DNA. I love it. These are the cars I truly admire, the large, comfortable, quiet and smooth automobiles with ZERO sporty pretensions. A car to get in with friends and drive down the highways and byways of America.
These cars are beautiful. I would love to have at least one of these 90-92 for my Cadillac Collection. These were the start of the good years for Cadillac and when Cadillac's became Cadillac's again! The 90-92 had several improvements over the previous years and were far better in every way possible than the car that replaced this. There was a reason why this was Cadillac's longest production model of 12 years.
My Grandmothers sister had a red one just like this that she got new in 1992. It had the red cloth top with gold trim and wire factory wheels. That car drove like a dream and you couldn't hardly feel any bumps. I would drive them to the grocery store and just loved the car. I told her I wanted the car, but when she died a few years ago she gave it to a charity and they sent it to Alabama for a tornado victim. I loved that car it only had 22,000-miles on it. These were real cars and so smooth.
These are very comfortable cars, if you can find the 350 powered version. The 307-Olds motor was a slug by comparison. Decent highway mileage, though, if you didn't speed. About 24-26 mpg.
Ok now this was a nice looking Fleetwood. NOT the one that replaced this one. This one is beautiful and much more elegant and classy that the next year!
A real grand pa ( or grand ma in this case) mobile you found there. Not a boy racer for sure, but a strong cruiser that can do the odd passing manouvre when called. Thanks for showing us.
You can get them you just have to splice in the 2 extra hones with the other sound notes. Or you can buy all 4 the trumpet option ended in 2000, i got some off a 81 fleetwood brogham for my deville. Ebay or junkyards have them fairly easy to obtain.
I love the tall side windows. Black on Black would look like a presidents limo. This might be the year to go with, fuel injection, much better mileage and still a good looking front end on it. I can't stand blue leather though, ugh.
You must be kidding right? I was so happy to see that beautiful blue leather. Soooooo much better than plain black. Back on the 70’s here in Australia, the GM cars entry level models were black interior. The more up market models gave you a colour choice for interior - light brown, dark brown, blue, red etc. Plain black is just so dull!!!
I wish I could have got that one from you!! I LOVE those- THAT years with that 350 v-8. THIS and the 1978-1983 Eldorado /Seville is what I think about when I think about Cadillacs (since I was born in 1969 and was a child on the 1970's and 1980's.
It was from 90 forward on non-airbag GM passenger cars. Some sort of regulation because the seat belt had to be "automatic." Eventually all their cars had front airbags to they didn't need a mandated "automatic" seat belt. The idea was it was to be left hooked in.
Back in those days. You ordered a Cadillac, and you already knew that it was loaded up with every sweet luxury options that GM could make! Like cute Kyle said, Posh! Sensuous back seat! With Kyle in it, yes! 😋
I wish you could still get velour cloth or leather. My first car had the optional Velour was very smooth and comfortable. Now it's just cloth usually with a cheap looking and feel or leather. Well clear vinyl coated leather, unless your really spending a pile of money.
Dont forget Kyle that in 1991 when the 5.0 liter got fuel injection it also changed to the Chevrolet 305. The Olds 307 was dropped after 1990. The Oldsmobile 307 never had fuel injection. Great Video. I love seeing videos of these older cars.
Awesome car ! My parents had the;" d'Elegance" versions of this car. I had an Eldorado. Mom hated the Brougham.( She wanted something that said..FUN) We would swap at every chance we got. That worked for me. The Eldorado was fun to drive; but, the Brougham commanded respect on the road. The downside of the Broughams was the air suspension. Living in New England; the seals were subject to leaks. The .."Level Ride" , system was better for cars that would NOT have large variances in temperatures. I have some friends that have restored Caddys of this vintage. They have kits on their cars that have electronic suspension systems that eliminate that issue. This car is EXACTLY what a; "WORLD CLASS", luxury car should be!
I was reading that these cars- with the trailer towing package- can safely tow up to a 5,000 pound trailer. That is amazing. Try doing that with any new car today and the body would bend and warp the uni-body. Just look at all the little details in the trim and all the extras throughout the car. All the lights, all the emblems, all the stitching, the disappearing warning lights- oil-amp-ABS,etc. These cars will really get about 26 to 27 mpg on the highway. My great aunts got about 27.Amazing.
I had a car just like this with the 5.7 and it was the best driving car with the BEST GAS MPG like 24 on the highway...I'd love to find a car like the one i had white with the saddle leather and it was the d'Elegance package BTW to the sales guy in this ad...when telling anyone that something is Unique...that is it its UNIQUE not somewhat Unique or quite unique the word UNIQUE is a Superlative meaning there are no degrees to the word UNIQUE it is either Unique or not
As a grocery box boy in 1989, I remember those power trunks on big GMs then. My 77 LeSabre was the first year of this GM body, a shrink from the biggest ever 72-76 full sizers.
I have thus car. At 166k miles im considering rebuilding the engine for a smaller lighter car and definitely want the horn too. For now I just drive it until I decide what I want to do. :)
91’1/2 Cadillac Fleetwood just turned 203,335 mi. My daily drive since fall of 2013 I bought it with 146,600 miles, 4.9ltr FI V8 FWD. (4whl. Antilock brake’s) air ride system and alum. Whls./rims Made especially for Cadillac. Will need front seat covers and paint within in the next year as clear is peeling
At this point, Cadillac was taking its traditional buyers for fools. They were selling this $35,000 car, which was a 12 year old design with a Chevy 350 V8 stuffed in it. It was light years behind the 1991 competition from Lexus, Mercedes, and even Lincoln. If the 1992 redesigned Seville and Eldorado weren't as successful as they were, Cadillac would have gone under by 1994.
It was a 14 year old design by then and their target market for this car was a 65 year old male. Running a design that long just proves how successful the design is. My family had 3 of these cars:78,87,91. They were wonderful cars; very well built, reliable, long lasting with low maintenance cost, delivered great fuel economy for what they were, could tow trailers up to 5000 lbs (7000 lbs for 92) and look sharp while doing it. They are rugged workhorses with plenty of comfort and luxury. These are some of the best cars made..period. True American Classics.
EbonyBunny1 Very interesting for me to read about all this. I laughed when Kyle turned the radio on and 70's music HAD2 be playing man ! And I love reading about people's car memories too, as we didn't see many of these awesome cars in the UK. Well, usually you have to go/search them-out. Great Vid 4 me anyway. = )
It's a cool car even though it's built on 70s technology. Both the exterior and interior were nearly unchanged since 1977. No airbags in even the 92 model of this car.
commentmachine1 I don't car if they made this another 10 years. I never get tired of seeing and looking at these cars. They were one of the Best selling Cadillacs of all there years. Still built in America!!!!!
Interesting for you to say, since I see more of these on the road now than any particular Japanese car of the same era. Too luxurious, spacious, and comfortable for you? I own three of these and they have outlasted every Japanese car any of my friends or family have owned. Having owned these cars and having seen the positive reaction they get from all kinds of different people, I do not understand why people were buying Japanese cars during the 1980's-90's.
Since I was 16 all I owned is cadillacs I just bought new deville you just have to love these cars I won't even trade it with a japanese car even a new Lexus I love cadillacs
@@DavidPysnik American car styling was very outdated in the late 80s and early 90s, and then you had the success of import smaller sedan cars like the Camry, Corolla, Legacy, Maxima, Accord, Galant and Lancer that were modern and hip.
Hey Kyle. I just started watching your channel about a week and a half ago. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. You helped me pick out my new car I got a week ago. After watching your video on the chevy cruze I went and test drove one first and loved it. On the down side i find my self watching video after video and next thing I know over an hour has passed lol. Keep up the great work.
Bought fleetwood 89 yesterday. Such a nice, comfortable and easy to use every day car even 30 years later. With really nice exhaust sound And it cost me 3k$ only. Much more better purchase then 2019 hundai solaris that cost 5 times more
U damn right wit words on last minute.Even here In russia many of us got to say the same, even If more less same cars In herre then In US.We love these cars In here
Kyle... How have you done this... First you uploaded the Buick Riviera, just like the car my mom has, then now this Cadillac Brougham, that's exactly like my dad's... Both were bought brand new, basically like the condition of these cars now, and we still have them both. You are truly amazing. I might just send you a pic of them both together! lol
I've owned a 1985 Fleetwood Brougham with the 4.1L and it definitely wasn't the best thing I've ever had. If I got another one it would have to be like this one. A 90-92 with the L05 350. That would be perfect.
I agree. Every time I rent a modern car, I'm left wondering where the usable power is. I have to rev the heck out of those modern plastic death traps just to get them to finally get moving. Do people nowadays really like to rev their motors at high-RPM's with wide-open-throttle frequently just to get around town? I'd choose large amounts of partial-throttle smooth torque over that any day.
Very nice car and video. The light on the exterior of the center pillar is called an Opera Light, not courtesy light. The courtesy light is inside the car on the ceiling. The light indicators on the hood are to show you that the bulb is actually working. You can know the status of the headlights, corner lights and tail lights without getting out of the car. What a beautiful car!
i just got one of these beautiful cars for my first car!!, it's truly amazing and im very lucky to own this car. Theres only a few very minor problems that are easy to fix and it's in good shape. I got mine with vouge tires witch look beautiful on this car. for any one who wants to buy one in decent condition, it will be around 3 grand, totally worth every penny :)

Back in those days. You ordered a Cadillac, and you already knew that it was loaded up with every sweet luxury options that GM could make! Like cute Kyle said, Posh! Sensuous back seat! With Kyle in it, yes! 😋
This car is a beauty, practically brand new, hopefully whoever bought it will keep it original and take care of it.
Even though it’s an old car I would choose it over other new cars today
I preferred the Velour interior much more to the leather but still a great looking time capsule
NOT ME I'M LEATHER ONLY AND HAVE IT IN MY 1991 BLACK BROUGHAM D'ELEGANCE !!
Velour was great until a seed popped then it was a fire sale. Leather is much more durable and just gets softer with use.
2:14 Oooh, I love the sound of that horn.
Amazing Cadillac. I'm in love. Even has the tow package 5.7. How much did it sell for?
If I had done this U-Tube video I would have bought this car
I was reading that these cars- with the trailer towing package- can safely tow up to a 5,000 pound trailer. That is amazing. Try doing that with any new car today and the body would bend and warp the uni-body.
Just look at all the little details in the trim and all the extras throughout the car. All the lights, all the emblems, all the stitching, the disappearing warning lights- oil-amp-ABS,etc.
These cars will really get about 26 to 27 mpg on the highway. My great aunts got about 27.Amazing.
I had a car just like this with the 5.7 and it was the best driving car with the BEST GAS MPG like 24 on the highway...I'd love to find a car like the one i had white with the saddle leather and it was the d'Elegance package BTW to the sales guy in this ad...when telling anyone that something is Unique...that is it its UNIQUE not somewhat Unique or quite unique the word UNIQUE is a Superlative meaning there are no degrees to the word UNIQUE it is either Unique or not
Made in the same factory as my 1989 Caprice in Arlington Texas.
As a grocery box boy in 1989, I remember those power trunks on big GMs then. My 77 LeSabre was the first year of this GM body, a shrink from the biggest ever 72-76 full sizers.
Wtf, 28,000 original miles! Simply beautiful...
incredible car!!
Shut up and take my money!
This car is awesome, and I greatly appreciate the video. This car is in amazing condition. It looks almost new.
I have a 1992 champagne with a brown carriage roof. 67k original miles. A true gem! Love these cars! Last of true American luxury
I love it
AKA Albany Emperor from GTA 5
I have thus car. At 166k miles im considering rebuilding the engine for a smaller lighter car and definitely want the horn too. For now I just drive it until I decide what I want to do. :)
91’1/2 Cadillac Fleetwood just turned 203,335 mi. My daily drive since fall of 2013 I bought it with 146,600 miles, 4.9ltr FI V8 FWD. (4whl. Antilock brake’s) air ride system and alum. Whls./rims Made especially for Cadillac. Will need front seat covers and paint within in the next year as clear is peeling
How did people live without cupholders ?
Apparently, not too badly.:)
+paulparoma blue leather? i don't get it id prefer bergendy
+sim61642 and why did they remove the old fuel gauge and clock,it was iconic
And what color is "bergendy" exactly? That of Bergen County, NJ?
Because that's called "progress.":)
True American Classics.
dstarks80 how can a 92 pull more
altonlewis98 They raised the compression ratio on the engine from 9.3:1 to 9.8:1. Torque went from 280 lbs to 300 lbs.
14 years you mean. The same basic design since the 1977 model year.
I love the sound of one of them old cadillacs starting up, so throaty and deep, just rumbles with power
I can't believe people still bought this shape Cadillac in the early nineties. It reeks of late 1970s in there.
This Cadillac was basically a 1977 with a sheet metal change in 1980, with cosmetic changes thereafter.
That's why they bought it...I would much rather have this design than contemporary look and I am many years away from 65.
commentmachine1 ...and that's a BAD thing?!!
commentmachine1 I don't car if they made this another 10 years. I never get tired of seeing and looking at these cars. They were one of the Best selling Cadillacs of all there years. Still built in America!!!!!
+commentmachine1 The Lincoln Town Car far outsold this. It had a more contemporary look.
Looking at this car, I now understand why people were buying Japanese cars during the 1980's-90's.
I have this car with the 5.0 the reason some people bought Japanese cars is because they were cheap this was $35000 at the time
Interesting for you to say, since I see more of these on the road now than any particular Japanese car of the same era.
I like these classics more! Terrific job bro.
Simply awesome... gotta love those luxurious classics
Bought fleetwood 89 yesterday. Such a nice, comfortable and easy to use every day car even 30 years later. With really nice exhaust sound And it cost me 3k$ only. Much more better purchase then 2019 hundai solaris that cost 5 times more
U damn right wit words on last minute.Even here In russia many of us got to say the same, even If more less same cars In herre then In US.We love these cars In here
i love looking at the old stuff, cheers
You need a ten-gallon hat to drive this car. This car brings back some good memories. Thanks Kyle!
Lots of torque. I'd love to have something like this just as a "sunday cruiser" or what not....
I actually own a 5.7L Cadillac Brougham. truly a beautiful car to own but sadly mine isn't in as good of shape as this.
Kyle... How have you done this... First you uploaded the Buick Riviera, just like the car my mom has, then now this Cadillac Brougham, that's exactly like my dad's... Both were bought brand new, basically like the condition of these cars now, and we still have them both. You are truly amazing. I might just send you a pic of them both together! lol
Absolutely beautiful Cadillac! It would make a very good Sunday cruiser!
I always liked these older Cadillacs. Very nice example of a well-cared for Caddy!
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! Whoever had it took really good care of it.
In my opinion, most of the cars/trucks that GM was rolling out in the 90's are some of the best ever made.
i just got one of these beautiful cars for my first car!!, it's truly amazing and im very lucky to own this car. Theres only a few very minor problems that are easy to fix and it's in good shape. I got mine with vouge tires witch look beautiful on this car. for any one who wants to buy one in decent condition, it will be around 3 grand, totally worth every penny :)
