  • The Boring Company is one of Elon Musk's many futuristic projects, alongside Tesla and SpaceX. It promises to build high-speed tunnels that will dramatically change your commute. But The Boring Company has yet to build a single commercial tunnel. Elon Musk recently announced a Las Vegas tunnel, which could be the first completed project for The Boring Company.

    Here in Chicago we aren't hearing much about the project from downtown out to O'Hare International Airport. Its a bit bitter sweet because when i first heard about it. The idea was cool, but i kept wondering ok how many people will fork up the funds outside of trying it once or twice for the experience to use it to get to the Airport. But then i remembered people in my office who are always running late to catch a flight and many times missing it. So it might have some decent funds from my office and other offices in the downtown area that have those last minute commuters.
    But now there is no talk about it, so we don't have a clue if its still on or stuck in some kind of Chicago political hold up or.... I wish they would keep us informed in the paper at least so we have an idea of whats going on and if its really going to happen. Great video on this subject, keep up the great work.

Clearly you can see taking your own car through a high-speed high-tech exclusive tunnel on remote control to quickly get from one side to the other of high-density urban areas is different from merely digging a tunnel and putting a trolley through it

    The shuttle tunnel version is way better than the car version. Getting downtown from the airport in a lot of cities is expensive (usually an uber or taxi) and time consuming. Cities need fast mass transport from the airport to downtown.

  • @nougatbitz
    @nougatbitz Před 5 lety

    These tunnels should not be used for car transport but primarily for cargo delivery in fully automated "pods" that can go right under shopping malls and warehouses or residential pick up points. A huge amount of oversized trucks would be removed from the cities this way.
