    Only a time thing I'd say before Rotax come knocking with cheque book to disolve your company. You are costing them way to much. What a awsome business you have. Love the videos.

    I once installed an NSI Subaru EA81 into a Kitfox IV-1600 but the package had two failures: it was heavy ...the gearbox and prop (Warp Drive Three Blade) weighed 33# and the gearbox was prone to failures ... the engine was bulletproof and was producing a ton of power and torque, but the gearbox & prop just made it unusable. I had to put 22# of lead in the far aft tail area to get it into W&B. The Viking 90 set up should be no issue and with a very good power to weight ratio to boot. Out of 12 experimental aircraft I built that was the only auto conversion I did ... now I'm looking into a Rans with the Viking 90 as the engine of choice if I get a RANS. I would like to do an S18 Stinger ... the Viking 90 would make it a Super Stinger ... Venom Stinger??

    Why no fray protection for elect cables around edges of the metal conduits. Just curious, but former AF guy I know what vibration does around any metal interfaces over time.

    Very cool. You can pick up old Avid 4 for 10k or less flying. I will have to look into this

    Jan, you look tired, you need ten days of vacation. No airplanes, no engines, no customers.. swim every day, listen to ocean and some quiet music, eat healthy and sleep a lot!

    I def want the viking Honda 4 cylinder in my kit fox 7 series when I purchase it I think Hondas reputation plus vikings engineering style is a perfect match 40 grand for a Rotax 40 hp when I can run 180 plus the reliability nothing against Rotax great engines little pricy though !!! that's my dream plane!!!!I hope that won't offend Denny ......cause I love the kit fox 7 series like Trent Palmers!! when he paid about 40 g wow that's too much for me I know its a great engine though but I think the Honda will give it a run for its money!! just my opinion to all the pros out there if I'm wrong say why I'm listening??? thx

    Have you ran in to any issues with the oil coolers failing internally and mixing coolant with your engine oil? I've seen this a few times with automotive systems. Typically ford systems I've seen it more often. I would be concerned with cooler failure and coolant washing out your oil mid flight, causing the engine to seize.

    How did the turbo on the 90 work out? I would love to instal your 90 engine with the mild turbo on my KF4 instead of going through all the work of converting the Apex by myself. Please let me know if it may be a possibility in the near future.

      Hey Russ - still continued testing, everything is perfect so far and as expected, with turbocharging we want to be extra cautious about longevity, we can get the power, but we want reliability. Turbocharging is easy, reliability is key.

    Do you or are you going to look at installations for the 130 in older kitfox or avid?

    • @eggenfellner
      @eggenfellner  Před 4 lety

      The 90 HP is great for the Kitfox 4 and older and the 130 is good for the larger models. We have done both.

    What is the Crankshaft RPM at cruise and full throttle? What brand of Engine do YOU start with? I've been bit by the bug and am trying to identify the best way to get a KitFox and me in the air.

    • @eggenfellner
      @eggenfellner  Před 4 lety

      All of our gears throughout all engines are the same 2.33/1 ratio - The 90 HP comes from a 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage

    Wouldn't be too hard to drill down into the concrete outside and install 2 large anchors to tie down any airplane that wants to do a run up

      Hello, we have an all up weight video on our 90 on our CZcams already. It is the exact same installed weight of a 912 - which if memory serves correct around 192 lbs, all up.

    Waaay too many connections to be reliable. You have created so many leak possibilities it's scary.

    • @eggenfellner
      @eggenfellner  Před 2 lety

      We have been doing this a very long time, I assure you if you are clamping and doing your connections properly there should not be an issue.
