Optional Repositioning of CH-701 NoseWheel

By moving the nose wheel to the inside of the firewall, it allows for a 6 inch movement of the engine towards the firewall. This then allows for a better center of gravity with a more powerful engine.

That engine and radiator set up must create a huge amount of drag.
Loved seeing the extra Rutan aircraft at the end that you mentioned
Any one know what the size of the radiator is.
What’s a canard? 😂 Jan had a varieze.
Glad to hear the success! I’ve seen the Viking in years past. What’s the highest hp? I have a Velocity I built about 10 years ago.
link to Cozy install video?
Perfect. Just switched from zenith plans to cozy plans and boom, viking is on it. Glad to see dreams are still an easy reality.
How does the performance and fuel economy of this engine compare to the rotax 916 engine in the rans s21 outbound?
was on the market for a while great to see the troubleshoot
how many mpg??
Bruce - your rudder belhorns are installed backwards - they're supposed to be angled foreward, not aft. Doesn't look as swoopy, but gives a better angle for the cable. You'll need to shorten your cables to adjust when you swap the belhorns.
is it suitable for sonex aircraft?
Very nice! I just got a 2025 Chevy Trax and love it and love the engine.
Did you have to do anything concerning the crankshaft due to the prop pressure on it? I know years ago they were having problems with the 1964 etc. VW crankshaft cracking so someone came up with a thingy that the prop bolts to that takes pressure off the crankshaft.
I just bought a 2025 2RS and absolutely impressed with the engine. This gives me confidence 😊
I hear zenith is gearing up for the ch801 comeback . Im sure you guys will be doing a lot more 801s if thats the case . I read this off the zenair site
it has a gearbox? what's the ratio from engine rpm to the propeller rpm?
outstanding video!if you trust this power plant in your planes then its more than fine for us on 4 wheels!
Clear 👍🏻🤠
Love the fact that it fired right up. Good job!
Great work!!
I really appreciate your videos. All the hard work has paid off in a successful business, loving family, and friends across the country. Congrats. I should be turning the blades on my Viking 130 in August, if all goes right.
The community of Viking engine owners are so lucky to have you and Allyssa. I wonder if they appreciate just how unusual/unprecedented in the aviation community you two are. An engine supplier doing first flights for customers has probably never happened in the history of aviation. I'm not a Viking owner so my vote doesn't count but - I honestly, I wish you wouldn't do first flights. I feel you are too important to the experimental aircraft community as a whole to risk losing you in this manner.
Thank you, it is more risky test flying our new engines than something like this. We go through the aircraft carefully and the engine and get it setup to keep another customer safer than they may have been otherwise. I'm more concerned these days going on the road and driving a car lol.
Looking forward to the day you guys fly up to Puyallup WA for my first flight! Might be Alaska Airlines…😂
But wait, there is no shelf above the switches! :)
No, we barely have switches. 🤪 however, you have a great panel setup and ideally those guards are great to have - especially if you have passengers or aren’t hyper vigilant that could “accidentally” bop it down.
Love this Air plane and that engine!!
Very nice. What does all of this weigh? It would be interesting to to see if this would work on my Experimental Piper tail wheel Colt with an O320 in it currently
It is less than an O320 and the Titan 180 by a little bit and slightly more power.
Just bought a Chevy Trax Activ yesterday. Can confirm, for such a tiny engine, it scoots. Can't wait for HP Tuners to release a tune for it.
Yeah we have a 24 activ with 9k miles on it now and its definitely surprising how quick that tiny engine is. I drive over 2 mountains everyday for work and the higher torque will pull it up over like it's nothing where the 19 Trax we have wants to be in 3rd gear screaming to get up it. The 24 trax also makes some pretty nice turbo noises at lower speeds when you can hear it. Overall im super happy with it. You in the r/chevytrax group ?
can anybody here direct me to somewhere that shows the washer stack up for the grounding bus? any help would be greatly appreciated. :)
thank you Sr,!!
I’d watched a couple other videos from you, specifically on the Rans S21 with a 150hp NA engine. One of my questions was whether you offered the 195T with a constant speed prop. This video answered it, thank you.
Excellent video detailing the final steps of a 195T installation in a Zenith Super Duty. Definitely cleared up a few questions.
Nice! Just across town from me!
My dream setup!
going to need all 195 ponies to move those tires through the air!
These are pretty standard for that setup, we even had 31's on ours. It certainly is a big drag setup.
Who configured the ECU,and is it the original ECU with firmware mods, or completely original programming?
It is our proprietary ECU that is used. They are done on a dyno, programmed and fine tuned in air etc.
Very nice!
Thanks!
Spectacular!
Thank you! We had fun.
Congrats
It looks great. You and Jan did a good job.Lots of power. Please post more videos as you go along.
Sure will!
I have a UL Power 350si CH750 in my hanger for an inspection and I cant get parts for it to do the simple oil change or swap the spark plugs. Also the tool needed to torque the heads is backordered. What a joke! I wish it was the viking 3 cyl turbo!
Yikes! You have to torque the heads as well?
@@eggenfellner Torque every 15, 100, and 200 HRS. Only source I can find for UL Power parts is Belgium, No USA parts. Baffles are all cracked up (200 Hr Engine)... it goes on and on.... I took this job way to cheap, no idea the man hours it would take. Loosing money on this inspection.
Sorry to hear that, certainly not a fun task it sounds like....
Very nice! Jan, hurry up and get that 701 baby turbo done please. Can't wait to see some numbers on empty weight and performance .
Heck Yeah!!
Just down the road from us.
awesome! wishing him safe and fun adventures!
You forgot to install the wings! (The install looks beautiful, always so clean on the Viking installs!)
Thank you so much for the detail of these videos and engines.
"If it was CHEAPER, everybody would be doing it"...fixed your thumbnail for ya... P.S. Noticed an ad for an ultralight engine the other day...$30k for a tiny Rotax, same one I got in a 15 year old 4 wheeler... Congratulations on destroying another hobby with greed....
We are about 1/5 and 1/2 the price of everything out there, so the greed you speak of is not aimed in the right direction. Talk to Rotax, Lycoming and Continental about that. We have everything as affordable as possible while maintaining a business.
I don't even have my engine yet, and you guys feel like family.
