TMM saying Baek is trash while showcasing his worst moves which you never really should use. f+212, d+444, really? You are going to be using these moves on combos only. d+44 is a good wall carry move while f+212, you never really need to use this outside wall combo ender or to break walls. d+2 used to be safe on T6BR before it was nerfed to -10. but he has b+4 now which is a safe KND and CH launcher. And with Baek's hopkick, everyone knows baek's hopkick is shit. He has a safe df+2 to compensate for that.
Here's what Baek has:
Safe 15f df+2
Magic 4
good CH moves in df+44 (safe) and d+4333 (unsafe but with mixup)
evasiveness in FLA stance
db+4 HAS bound combo - db+4, FC d+2, cc 4,3,3 FLA into bound. This is consistent among Baek mains.
Safe KD in b+4 which launches on CH
ff+3 safe mid launcher with +frames on block
FLA b+3 tracks both sides. Safe on block
Baek is a lot different with Hwoarang, please! Baek can do almost all his moves from FLA while Hwo can not. Hwoarang is even riskier offensively in my opinion due to the fact that he can only do certain moves from certain stance which makes him predictable while Baek can do a string, cancel into FLA then do a safe move like a jab or df+1 or even a dickjab.
Come on TMM. You should make more research before saying a character is a complete garbage. Baek is bad, but not as bad as you make him out to be.

TMM be like "Oh, let's pick some of this character's worst moves and then call him garbage". Man, I hate that logic. Baek was bad, sure. But you can't just say he's bad because "d+1,4 is a bad move" like, no good baek player ever really uses that move on neutral due it the first hit's poor range. Devil Jin has ff+3+4, a move that has no tracking and no practical usage and the 1+2 laser that is a high and really slow. Oh! and SS+2 that's so punishable. So this must mean Devil Jin is garbage, right?

Yeah, I get where you're coming from. That's honestly why I feel Rig is the coolest 3D Taekwondo character (Useless trivia: Taekwondo literally translates to "Art of kicking and punching". Just one of those things that sounds cooler when you don't try to translate it).

@@jessISaRicePrincess Yeah, I know. It's just that Tekken is designed with each button corresponding to a specific limb, so Hwoarang ends having two of his buttons to be heavily underutilized.
Other kick heavy Taekwondo characters like Kim Kapwhan and Juri get around this by having most of their punch buttons be kicks instead. SFxT Hwoarang actually was like that too. That's right, Hwoarang worked better in SFxT than in his own series.
I just feel like Baek just fit the Tekken system better than Hwoarang.

Taekwondo uses fists too, it is *not* only about kicks.
I hated Hwoarang in SFxT BECAUSE they took away his punches, because believe it or not, his punches are very important in Tekken. He may have more kicks than punches, but his punches are just as integral.
baek's taekwondo is more splendid than hwoarang's. that's enough. i miss him...

Lmao he was too OP. I had a 98,5% ranked win ratio with him back in 2012. All great characters get killed if they become too mighty.
I always likes the feel of Baek but he required alot of work in terms of dealing out damage
Baek's string were garbage most of them were low and highs.
But you weren't supposed to use them anyway. Instead you just had to play very compact.
Like using
1 11 12 df4 df44 df1 d1>4 for basic pokes.
magic4 b4 for CHs.
ss3 d4 db33~f for low pokes.
df2 ff3 for safe launchers.
b1 for a safe evasive move.
ff4 for homing.
b4 for tracking to Baek's left, ff4 or d4 for tracking to Baek's right.
uf4 for low crush.
uf2 wr3 for plus frames on block.
df2 db2 cd3 for whiff punish.
As well as use movement, his evasiveness of SSR~b3~FLA SSR and b1 to force the opponent to use homing moves. Then use fast moves like 4 to CH them.
But his lows weren't that scary, so the opponent could just turtle vs him.
goes to show how little people know about baek, saying he's shit while not actually knowing how to utilize his moveset correctly. pbft!
Surely one of the character with the most spectacular fighting style of the saga, a whole show. It was orgasmic to see Flamingo cancel`s.
They really should put Baek in tekken 7, he has a unique feel and style, different from Hwoarang, and I read he is inspired from a real person who is quite famous in Korea. And he has been in tekken since tekken 2. So it would no doubt please quite a lot of people to have him back even if he were to be under powered, and if they do manage to balance him even better. Even if they over do it and make him a bit too strong they can tone it down in the next patch

The grammar is really confusing, just saying, anyways; For the really top tier stuff, I would say Lars, Devil Jin, Capos, or Bob for all online things and I'll throw in Combot for casual and offline shenanigans.

If you learn how to be crafty Baek is hell. Especially with his punch parry that leads to a kick. His low parry out of Flamingo stance.
After forward+2,1 lands I usually replace the final hit with a hop kick or quick mid/sidestep attack.
Down 1,3 sidestep into flamingo hop kick if they don’t duck the 3 or flamingo grab. Forward 3+4 after jabs to stop sidesteppers.
17:00 The whole thing is guaranteed on counter-hit, and the string is very easily hit-confirmable/CH-confirmable. The second and third hits can be delayed quite a bit, and the second hit, even on maximum delay, is guaranteed on normal hit, while the third hit, even on max delay, is guaranteed on CH. Also, the first hit is completely safe, so there's virtually no risk in just throwing out the first hit on its own.

I always thought the opposite, that Howarang is a lot worse than Baek. I guess I got too used to Baek, in fact, for me he is the best along with Eddy and Yoshimitsu. Because there is a fact that nobody contemplates, when you max out your game with these 3 characters, you can completely do what you want and your opponent will never have the faintest idea when or how you are going to attack. Howarang is so much more predictable.

Exactly. No matter how many times someone wins with a character, their faults will remain the same until patched. That, or some absurd tech is discovered that makes them crazy good, but that's rare.

Interesting, Lee seems to share some of the issue Baek had, good looking moves but primarily punishable highs which is always an issue in tournament.

Gus Buster I think Marduk came back because of fan requests. I don’t think there were many requests (if any) for Baek which is why we didn’t get him in S2. I doubt he’ll be in S3 but you never know.

Beak did train hwoarang to be strong enough to defeat jin in his devil form. And i do agree that beak is a cool character but hwoarang just comes off as more badass
No way, Hwoarang seems like a cool and likable punk, Baek is a martial artist who spent his whole life becoming the perfect fighter, in spite of all the hard things life trew at him. Hwoarang worst traumatic experiences were not defeating Jin Kazama, loosing to devil Jim, and beeing forbidden to partecipate in a martial arts tournament due to military service. Baek had his father and role model loose his martial arts career due to an incident, become an alcoolist, then going to jail, then he lost his mother, and had to rise his siblings alone at a very young age, and then he killed his own father by mistake. He is a much more serious and dramatic character.

I never liked baek but one thing is for sure that in tekken 6 it was more difficult for me to defeat him than hwoarang.
Official Tiers mean next to nothing online. I can remember watching old TMM streams where Baek would come in with rage and completely destroy him with 3-5 hits from a full life bar.
