- The best training lock for locksport has to be well-made, must give good feedback, should be easily repinnable and be provided at a reasonable price point.
There are plenty of commerically available training locks on the market, but I think I may have stumbled on a little-known gem that will suit the beginner and the seasoned locksporter alike - and it is less than a quarter of the cost of the better known brands!
You should try to put some links in the description for the videos like this that talk about a whole handful of products. Loving your videos though fish!
Picked one of these up on your recommendation and it's money well spent. Even on the side without security pins the pinning is so crazy that my current deepest hook can barely set pin 4 and has no chance of setting pin 6. With everything else on top of that, I'd almost consider this for my front door
Glad you rate it Joshua - thanks for checking it out 🙌
Fascinating! I can see them increasing the price of those locks before too long. 😉 Thank-you, Fish. 🙂👍
Pleasure mate - the price is still holding so far 😉
Wow, that was great. Glad I stumbled across this video.
I've been thinking about modifying a lock for something like this. Now I won't need to. Thanks Fish. I'll buy one tomorrow after the new year hangover fades. 😊
Haha hope the hangover has now passed :)
waiting for my starter set. this is going to be a great lock to have once I've learned why whereabouts on the hobby
It is a really good place to start. Just put in a couple of pins to begin with and then add the next chamber once you are getting consistent opens until you’ve filled all six. Have fun 😉
Once again an absolutely great production Fish. Happy new year
My pleasure and glad you liked it. Happy 2021 🎉
VERY good stuff, Fish!
You was the one I give info on the anti bump pins. I have subbed to you. Great vid and channel.
Ah thanks John - that really helped mate - and cheers for the sun 🙌
Happy new year, Fish! Great video, I hope I can get one.
Thanks Carrie - happy 2021 to you too. Let me know how you get on 🙌🥳
Awesome video!! You have such a great voice and love all the ideas and information!!
Thank YOU for the support and kind words 🙏🙌
thanks for sharing good idea with the allen key , especially for me as just dont like taking the euros to bits , great vid
Me too Cap. I find it very fiddly so this is such a find for me!
I'm getting one of these, I wish I had known about this a couple of months ago, thx for great vid.
My pleasure Steven 🙌
Mine just arrived. Those pins on the external side really are insane!
Thanks for the suggestion.
They're great, aren't they? Thanks for following through Peter - hope you enjoy picking it.
@@fishpicks4531 Struggling to even get my Southord hook in the keyway properly at the moment. Have been sanding down my chinese picks that are thinner...
Looks very nice - ordered from eBay. Can't wait to test the pin-in-pins... :)
Great video Mate
Thanks for sharing
Surprisingly I never really used a training lock per say, plenty of locks here to play with lol
Your points are well made!
cheers
Cheers mate - I think your path has worked out just fine so far! 😉
Well done and clearly explained!
Appreciate that John 🙏
Although it's fun, cheap and good for the learning curve to make a practice lock, this lock you mention looks like a super opportunity to start indeed!
Thanks for checking it out Edoc Dab 🙏
I absolutely love your videos
And I love that you’re loving them! Thanks for such motivating feedback 🙌
Right off to eBay it is then. Thanks for the great vid yet again
My pleasure mate - next one is on the way
Very useful review!, nice explanation!
Glad you liked it - thanks for taking the time to check it out 🙌
Great video and lock. Would love to have one, going to try to get one if shipping cost to the U.S. isn't too much. Those pins are really nice and what you find in more expensive locks. Happy New Year and be well. 🙂👍🍻
EBay says item does not shipped to the US
@@jackfoxlock figures. Lol. Thanks for the feedback. 🙂👍
I know some people have managed to pick one up via Amazon, or from UK suppliers that ship to the US. The postage is likely to sting a little more, but perhaps you can get a UK friend to send one out as a gift to avoid customs charges?
Excellent recommendation for a lock, purchased!
Thanks Philip - let me know how you get on once it arrives 😉🙌
@@fishpicks4531 will certainly do so
What a find! I hope they've made enough to go around, I can see sales of these cylinders rising quite dramatically in the coming months 🤣
Good shout, and as always an excellent video 👍
Thanks Robert - if you pick one up, do let me know how you get along with it - thanks for checking out the video 🙏
@@fishpicks4531 I certainly will do, ty for the reply 😀
Loved it, thank you! Now just have to see what the shipping to the U.S. would be 🤣
@@irkedoff thank you 🙏😊
Hopefully not too much 🙏
Ah you found a US source? Awesome 👏
@@irkedoff Are you sure? I used that link, and during checkout under "zone rates" it says no shipping available to the selected country. It seems to be letting me proceed with checkout anyway, but I'd rather hold off on spending my money for now. Maybe you could confirm it here when your lock has arrived?
Wow! Another great video! If you get to the point where you start designing your own picks and you don’t call them “Fish Sticks” I’ll be terribly disappointed. LOL!! I’m really enjoying the depth and quality you bring to your videos. Please... don’t stop.
Hah only just saw this comment! I’ll make sure I cut you in on the Fish Sticks range when it comes😉
That really is a nice find, but I guess the price is different everywhere, for France it is expensive to get :/
I would have tried it otherwise to compare it to the training cylinder I got from multipick (never suceeded to opened it yet), but they are mostly the same price in my case.
I really like your videos! That must be because of the teacher part but it is really nice to listen and learn from your content!
Thanks Kane -sorry to hear that the price is so much higher for you but glad you are enjoying the channel content 😉
Great training lock!!!
I like locks that give good feedback!!
Stay safe my friend
🐾🐈🐈⬛🐾😷👏👏👏
Thanks Chris - back to school for me this week so staying safe will be a challenge but will do my best!
@@fishpicks4531 😷😀👍
sounds great, unfortunately it doesn't post to the USA
Hey Fish, thanks so much for this recommendation. And really excellent video as well - much higher production values than any other locksport video I've so far seen! I just ordered one of these locks and am looking forward to trying it. I'm about a week into the sport. I have the Revolver plus the Sparrows Reload kit and I'm slowly learning with that, but I really like the idea of an easily re-pinnable real life lock. I bought 10 used euro cylinders on eBay and I have picked a couple once or twice (can't do it consistently), but I keep wishing I could look at the pins to try and understand what I'm feeling. Quick question: do you happen to know if the Sparrows Reload Kit pins will work in this TS007? I just measured one pin and it measured 2.89mm in diameter which sounds good? I saw you mentioned that standard Euro 2.9mm pins work in this TS007? Thanks again for the great video.
Hey - thanks for the great feedback. Great question - so I have just repinned mine with alternating spools and standard drivers from the Sparrows set and the key works fine 😉
@@fishpicks4531 That's great! Thanks so much for testing that and letting me know so quickly. Keep up the great work with your videos, really enjoying them.
Nice video, I wish that you included a link to that lock, though.
Thanks - I didn't do so because it is so location specific - Google is your friend 😉
definitely makes me want t buy one, giving you a heads up. i got some locks coming to add to your collection. i will let you know when they arrive and go from there.
Amazing - that’s incredibly kind. Thanks so much 🙌
@@fishpicks4531 on part has arrived, waiting for the stuff from allpadlocks.com to arrive, thought about maybe making a modification to one of the cores since i have a dremel style tool a wen that i seen decent reviews on from hobby lobby here in the states. when everything is sorted out i can give you my email addy or vice versa and go from there and i will handle the shipping as well
@@j.gabriel8573 perfect - looking forward to connecting further.
What’s about Covert Instruments CI training lock? Which one is the best since that one came out?
The "Long side" and the "short side " is only on your model.
The lock is available in all dimensions, same or different lengths on both ends.
The anti bump features in chambers 3 and 4 are effective against bumping, but don't present any anti pick features.
That’s really useful additional information Tony - appreciate you leaving your comment 🙏
I've already order one thank for the tip. Finger crossed that it was the right one... Lol
Let me know Rafael - good luck 😉
Well that is a 3 star kitemarked lock. Im very surprised at how cheap it is. Ill be checking into getting a few...so thank you very much for the heads up!
My pleasure - good luck on your hunt 😉
@@fishpicks4531 Well if they'll ship to the US ill be able to get one. lol I emailed the seller.
Does this lock take the same pins from the Sparrows Reload kit?
I think the Sparrows pins are a little more narrow - I haven't repinned mine yet but will report back.
✊🏻 Right on
Videos like this really should come with a warning at the beginning, "Warning! Watching this may cause you to spend money!"
Hope you stick around Fish. I'm really enjoying your channel 👍
Haha sorry about that mate - yep, hoping to be around for a while. Thanks for checking the channel out 🙌😉
Can you please provide a link?
Trying to find this lock on ebay or in the US any suggestions
Mitch if you send me an email - see the About page - I can send you some links that might help 😉
That lock is now over $60. Thanks.
I would say it is not likely someone would pick this while mounted in a door in the wild. It is not so special to see chamber access on quality euro profile cylinders designed to be rekeyed, as that is about the only way to do that without spending way too much time.
Perhaps that just shows my lack of experience in the field! It is the first one with grub screws I have come across - when you say it would be unlikely to be picked in situ, do you say that because half an hour spent working on a lock would likely draw attention or is it more a case that a lock in a door is much harder to work on because of positions and angles? Very interested to learn more because that's not something I've tried to date. Thanks for commenting.
@@fishpicks4531 burglars go with easy in-out. They do not bring a chair and a coffee to spend 30+ mins spp with the chance of someone stopping by. And then add a door frame next to the lock, Mount it pins down. Put a handle above it, and think about if you ever get your hand in a position, where the door would be in the way
Haha yeah fair point. I think I would make a terrible burglar! Guess I’ll keep locksport as my hobby and keep my teaching job 😉
Awesome mate. You're doing great videos man. 👍🤘🖖🍻
Thanks mate - really enjoying making them 😉
Can you please put a link to the ebay page that I can buy this lock from?
Unfortunately the way that the comments are configured on CZcams means that links won’t appear as clickable URLs - where are you based? It might well be that you’ll be able to find a supplier closer than the UK EBay seller I sourced my lock from.
@@fishpicks4531 Israel and I doubt I could find a better source. I can copy the link and past it in me address line on the browser or I can give you my mail . I don't want to be too much of a trouble...
Sure - ping me an email (the address is on the About Page for my channel) and I will then send you a couple of options :)
@@fishpicks4531 very kind of you.
Can you provide a link to buy the lock?
Where are you based AJ?
@@fishpicks4531 United States. Great video by the way.
@@ajvenit thanks mate. So, I know some guys in the States have had issues getting this on Amazon or through EBay but there are some UK firms which will ship internationally. Alternatively, if you send me an email (details in the About section) I can pick one up and ship it out to you if you have any issues.
Here is the Amazon link, in case you do find it works for you: www.amazon.co.uk/Trimas-Cylinder-Nickel-Finish-KM597142/dp/B08QW8B32K
@@fishpicks4531 thanks for the very nice offer, I was able to order from the UK Amazon site that you provided. Cheers.
@@ajvenit Ah great - glad to hear that
That's a great find. I hadn't seen a euro cylinder coming out of the factory with grub screws installed yet. And perhaps these sets of pins can be used to re-key the lock locksaway.co.uk/repinning-kit-for-the-6-pin-re-pinnable-euro-cylinder and locksaway.co.uk/security-pins-pinning-kit
I suspect those pins will fit - let us know how you get on 🙌
@@Mouly0 yes they fit fine mate 😉
Imagine creating the perfect lock that is supposed to be impenetrable just for it to be used as a training lock. 😆
