The big things about this mission for me is the fact that Jervis is the only villain that Batman curses at, and also at the end when he steps on his hat for no real reason. It just goes to show how dangerous this guy is: he's good enough to get into Batman's head and unhinge him a little, enough to actually visibly anger him.
well batman's fear was always becoming the very thing he fights, that's why he doesn't kill, so in my opinion when jervis is able to basically unhinge him as you said, i think that makes him he feel afraid of what he would do if he lost his mind, which cause him to get very angry, correct me if i'm wrong which i may be, but i think the joker and Jervis are the only to people so far in the arkham universe who pushed him to the brink of loosing it

Well to be fair batmans already been in a lot of shit from dealing with: bane, ra's, hugo, penguin, grundy, freeze, zass, joker, riddler, harley, a BIG ASS SHARK etc. So hatter trying to hypnotize bats from more important matters would piss him off a bit

This side mission really freaked me out. I found it by accident and I was wondering, "why is the cure up here?"
Robert Eli exact same with me, I was on the main mission to retrieve the cure from the joker, when I checked my map I got the side mission that said I had to pick up the cure.
In my mind I was thinking "no way is it that easy"

all I remember is mad hatter watched him while he saves viki vale from snipers around the broken bridge.then batman gets a call from Alfred which I think is a fake call made somehow by mad hatter.I still don't know how he did it but I'm pretty sure it was mad hatter.stranger thing is; dudes like riddler and mad hatter are somewhere in the city all the time,despite all those freaks around

@yarabbi şükür baboş he said he planted an idea into his head, which was a hypnotic “idea.” While I have not played this game, I played the Hatter dlc mission in Arkham Knight, where he also made Batman believe he was in a pop up book. Hatter is VERY skilled in hypnosis, and planting hypnotic suggestions is how he did this scenario. The hypnosis made Batman see and hear what he wanted, hence why Hatter did not know what Batman saw or heard, he just knew the hypnosis brought him there. Hatter doesn’t know Batman is Bruce, so the only way Hatter could have gotten him there was through a hypnotic suggestion

Well.. wouldn't wanna spoil it but you did say that you've watched the videos so.. it makes you think the game rebooted but it doesn't.. its just an interactive cutscene which looks a lot like the game's intro.. except as you would already know Joker and Batman switch places.
Apparently the devs wanted the fear toxin to tap into one of the worst fears of any gamer; the game crashing!

Also, I think you mean a pendulum, since a metronome is one of those metal bars potruding from atop, while a pendulum, which is used on grandfather clocks, comes from below, and is even heard during the fight
To me, this may very well be the best side-mission.
1. It's fucking creepy as hell.
2. Kevin Conroy sounds particularly awesome here.
3. Freeflow. That is all.
4. It has a nice message to it: Descent into madness.
“Go to hell Jervis!” That line Batman said to Mad Hatter was easily one of Kevin Conroy’s finest performances as the Dark Knight.
There's also Jervis himself. The VA did a fantastic job with portraying this creepier and more unhinged Mad Hatter!

I remember being quite shocked to hear that. I chiefly remember him from Bean and Dracula: Dead and Loving It; which were both comedy movies, so I was pleasantly surprised to see he took so well to voice-acting (especially for a character so menacing).

This came completely out of nowhere and frightened me like heck. All the more reason as to why this game is awesome.
Mad Hatter was always great in these Arkham games, and I love how they portrayed him. People should read Joker's Asylum II: Mad Hatter (a one-shot), as it was that issue that really made me see how damn insane he was, and even Arkham Asylum (A Serious House on a Serious Earth) from 1989 wasn't able to do that (though I did enjoy his appearance in that).

Suck My Ass Girl He appeared for two pages discussing with Batman about insanity and Arkham, while implying he was a pedophile and attracted to little girls, which is one of the few places I think that idea about him has been mentioned in comics.

Mad Hatter is among my favourite Batman villains. I love his portrayal in the Arkhamverse. He's brillant and extremely unstable. Even his henchmen are among the coolest enemies in the series.The rabbit masks look creepy and cool. Only thing is they were better dressed in Origins. Here, only the inmates should have been used as they have one uniform and dont work for any other villain.
I loved how trippy this part was. Made me miss those weird boss "fights" with Scarecrow in Arkham Asylum.

Yeah it makes sense though considering in the canon of the game Batman does this side mission after he gets the real cure makes sense because he didn't have time for it in the main story.

You should watch Gotham, the TV show. He is one of the main villains in it for quite a few chapters, and the actor is absolutely brilliant.

Tetch is so loony I doubt he'd even know who Bruce Wayne is.
In the context of the game, it wouldn't really matter if he figured out Batman's identity, because he's trapped in Arkham City anyway. He tried to take over Batman's mind here both because he wanted to use him as a henchman, and because Hugo Strange promised him "Alice" if he went along with his plans.
Plus, Bruce probably has a safety mechanism in his mask that makes it hard for other people to remove.

Mad Hatter unironically was the stronger villain here.
He literally had Batman right where he wanted him, checkmated with the fake call, false cure, and mind control mask and was very close to having the biggest force work for him.
But underestimated Batman's willpower Wich isn't really he's fault
I loved this mission, both creepy and awesome because of Peter Macnicol as the Mad Matter. Even if this was just a side mission, I badly wanted this as a real mission after you saved Vicki Vale.

TheOpalTitan Not panicking is very important, and the game is even easier because it tells you EXACTLY when to counter-attack, and besides the game gives you ovepowered combos and gadgets.

This was, and still is, the best adaptation of Mad Hatter I’ve ever seen.

I love the gradual progression you get with these characters. This is actually what I want to see in the Gotham TV show. I mean Ivy once had no powers, Killer Croc started as a mean thug with a skin condition and a pliable dentist. The start point of the Hatter really creeps me out though. Every time you see him he is recreating the same thing using mind control tech, but you know when he started, he was just a psychologist using a little hypnotherapy, abusing a lot of trust and a lot of time to create his own personal fantasy world. If they do a story of him on Gotham, I hope they do it right.

I remember this mission traumatized me when I was a kid. I couldn’t even complete it until ten years later.
I remember having been mindblowed as hell as well as scared while playing this... at the point of automically remembering this scene on the bullies wearing masks with the figure of Alice in Wonderland rabbits when Mad Hatter was mentioned as an option in a questions and answers TV show I was watching just before I wrote this comment

I was playing this game the other day after 6 months, i had finished the story and thought the rest would be side missions. i did the Mr.Freeze mission and then alfred said i had the cure, i forgot i hadn't cured batman yet so i took it. i wasn't expecting this. this is why Batman: Arkham City is one of my most favourite xbox 360 games.

I didn’t even get the cure message from Alfred. I winded up doing that side mission after I beat the main story. So Batman was already cured but he still took the fake cure anyways. It was hilarious.

When I first found this mission I was cracking up and disturbed at the same time. I thought batman looked so funny.
You could see the mad hatter for like a second in a cutscene from the main story, after saving vicky vale, and right after that you got the new side mission, so i assumed it would have something to do with him, it was quite awesome.
I love this game, like, it has the best story of the trilogy (the most original since Arkham asylum has existed since forever and Arkham city was kinda what you were expecting) the best gameplay for it's time, and oh my God the Easter eggs, set ups and pay offs, it's the best Arkham game hands down
