Hey Brenda, I love Turnips!!! I have not heard anyone say " Pot Liquor " in ages! This is Remedy for what ever ails you! When I was growing up and my children were coming along we had ' Turnips and Collard Greens with ' Pot Liquor ' for the both kinds of those greens. We would break that " ho-cake ', crumble it up in those greens and eat 'um with our God given fork, our fingers. You talkin' bout some ' sho-nuff ' good eating, child what you say!!! Thank you my Sister for that walk down " Memory Lane " with you today! ❤
My husband cooks turnip greens, mustard greens, Kale, spinach, collard greens with some ham or bacon. Cornbread,without sugar, and it is so good. Next time, I'll have to try the cornbread with the liquid.

Pot liquor is so good ❤ Brings back memories of my Mother and Grandmother. Mama stirred in a little self rising cornmeal. But Grandma made cornmeal dumplings in hers. I sure wish I knew how to make her dumplings. It was cornmeal, lard/crisco, salt and water. I never have gotten the ratio like hers. 😂 Have a great day Ms. Brenda. Sounds great,Brenda. Yeah, poor apartment living city folks,so many have been far removed from yards and gardens. They have never had such good foods. They eat fast food and microwave stuff. It may fill the stomach but it doesn't satisfy like something grown in the ground and fresh picked. Sometimes they are shocked by folks like us. They would like it if that's all they had. Knowledge is always key, of course,you sometimes have to be cautious about the source of foods,what the farmer put on his crops,where they were grown and such. You have to wash,wash,wash those greens. So always bless that food. Jesus saves and May God bless.
Yes Ms. Brenda this delicious meal brought back delicious memories from my madears cooking where I was born in Memphis, Tn. My madear also ate her homemade corn bread in a glass of buttermilk. So good 👍! The closest I have come to the taste of her cornbread is using White Lily Self-Rising Buttermilk Cornbread mix. God bless you.😊

I wish I liked greens 😂 I just can’t. I’ve tried more than once and it just doesn’t work for my stomach. I like fresh spinach for salad and such but any cooked greens I just can’t. 😂

We always used milk in our cornbread and added salt and pepper. Love it!! That was our bedtime snack.
