      Try to incorporate walking everyday.
Get outside in the fresh air.
Start very slowly...otherwise you will likely become too tired or injured and not want to keep it up.
      Around the house
      Around the block.
      Very gradually build up.
The key is to get your feet moving.

Fair warning, this may be a long comment! This soup works to lose weight because it is a calorie deficit meal, meaning it costs your body more calories to process it than it provides. In addition, it is a cleansing soup. If you've been eating a standard western diet you may have 10-25 pounds of unprocessed or putrified food waste in your intestinal tract. This soup clears it out, that's why so many comment that they're running to the bathroom the first few days. It also prepares the body to accept healthier, more nutritious food.
Now, to those who want to change the recipe somewhat, yes you can and here's how:
Don't want or can't take canned tomatoes? Use fresh tomatoes or a small can or even just a tablespoon or two of tomato paste or no tomatoes at all. Substitute any other low carb veggies you like. Use broth, stock or bone broth instead of water if you want more flavor. Add the spices and herbs you like. Fresh or dried parsley, basil, thyme, ginger, cumin, coriander, etc. but they're not the only ones you can use. Want spinach or kale but don't like it overcooked? Steam it and add it to your bowl with the soup. Any low carb veggies will do. Some cooking is a science, some is an art. This soup is art with the only rule being cabbage and lots of low carb veggies. Still hungry after one bowl a few weeks into this diet? Add a teaspoon of fat to your bowl, it will keep you full longer. No vegetable oils, only olive, coconut, avocado oil, butter or animal fat. Don't like overcooked cabbage? Add it 15 minutes before soup is done so its still a little crunchy. No corn, potatoes, peas, beets, turnips or other high carb veggies. Use celery leaves if you want, mushrooms, asparagus, zucchini, broccoli, collard greens, Swiss chard, green beans or whatever makes it palatable to YOU so that it's not a punishment but a joy to consume. Look at John Caputo's comment below. He was hesitant because he didn't like the original but changed it to his liking and succeeded in losing weight! In short, make it your own favorite soup! Best of success to you all and thanks for taking the time if you've read this far!

I was diagosed with diabetes in December and immediately changed my diet. I have always loved cabbage and make it with a little tomato sauce. So I started to make the soup with fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, scallions and add cut up italian sausage or little meatballs for protein. It's fast and easy and delicious as a full meal. In 2 and half month, eating it almost every day for lunch I've lost 20 pounds and brought down my blood glucose level from 262 to 115. I probably will eat it forever as I can't regain weight without dire consequences. Good thing I love it.

  • @jannewlove725
    @jannewlove725 Před 2 lety +215

Just a suggestion..for more flavorful soup. Sweat/saute your onions, garlic first then add carrots & celery (use the leaves!) with pinch of salt in a little olive oil. You'll get more flavor. Then add other herbs & spices. Then cabbage & saute a bit. Add tomatoes & water. Your broth will have more flavor this way & veggies too.
Adjust salt & pepper at the end. If you want boosted weight loss add sliced fennel bulb with the cabbage...a french staple for weight loss. Fennel will give another flavor or just use crushed fennel seed for depth.
This is about losing fluid weight due to potassium content in the soup for those initial 10 lbs.

I also sautéed my onions until caramelized a bit in a tad of good olive oil and then added all the herbs & spices to sauté a bit longer to soak up the sweetness from the onions...then the rest as you prepared for your soup. This soup does not taste like a diet. And it fills me up...I'm at my idea weight now after eating this soup for a month, but still eat it each week because I love it and it feels so good to feel healthier. Remember if you start eating this in smaller portions and eating slowly as well, it'll help to jump start the diet, is my belief and my doctors....Good Luck Everyone!

Wow- very cool! Did you look thru his other videos. He’s hot one called cabbage, vegetables and chicken so you’ll be getting protein. Going to try this one with the chicken. I’ve got to have my protein but will let you know how it goes. Going to have a light breakfast- one piece of toast with serving of egg beater and add some egg white from carton- it’s half the calorie if a fresh egg .If you add some 50/50 salt and little pepper it’s really good, one small can of hot and spicy v8 , coffee and 1/2 banana. The rest of the day I’ll have the soup for lunch, and my other 1/2 banana for an afternoon snack. Then have soup for dinner. Main thing is his recipe for that soup is very healthy and low calorie compared to what I was eating. I have issues with my blood sugar dropping is my only issue and drinking a small can of that hot n spicy v8 (5 g sugar, 6 g carbs) and only 30 calories per can and have it mid afternoon and I’m good to go.
Wish I knew how many calories are in a bowl of soup. If I stay at 1200-1400 max calories per day the wither falls off. Wish me luck 🥰

FYI: For anyone trying to lose a large amount of weight again, I want you to celebrate every 10 lbs. you lose and here’s why:
My best friend struggled with weight loss for years. She tried every kind of weight loss diet including fasting and liquid diets prescribed by physicians. She would always plateau and remain stagnant for a period of time and become discouraged. We happened to be grocery shopping when she lamented that she’d only dropped 14 lbs. so far but still needed to drop another 150 lbs. I told her to follow me to the meat counter. I put 14 lbs. of hamburger in her shopping cart and told her that it was about the same consistency as the weight and fat she’d just removed from her body. I asked her if she wanted to pick up all of the packages and carry them in her arms around her waistline instead of using a shopping cart! She started crying. She told me that not one of all “the professionals” she’d consulted had ever given her such a mind blowing visual of what that weight looked like! Or how much her back, stomach, knees and hips had been carrying! From this one little demonstration, she’d learned to appreciate visually what a great achievement she’d just accomplished! I told her that whenever she lost sight of the amount of weight she still needed to lose, to go to the store and repeat this exercise to remind her of what she was no longer carrying on her body and to celebrate each milestone. She was astounded how much this visual exercise did for her perspective.
So, I thought I would pass this story on to anyone who’s struggling with weight loss. I hope it helps you.
