Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another STEPS reaction made possible via PATREON with "Scared of the Dark." STEPS go all out with this one, sounds are on point and even vocal exchanges between Claire and Faye. My favorite of them thus far! See my react now.

I lived in London in the late 90’s and there was no bigger band than Steps. They were massive and this was a fabulous comeback 👍🏼

Steps are life! Deep in the depth of the lockdown they drop new music and a new album and it just lifted my spirits and saw me through. They’ve just released the second of that double album set. They blew my socks off! Launched them into space, NASA are still getting signals from my socks! Lol. The dance moves or dance STEPS, cough, lol are their thing, lots of people memorise those moves and it’s a thing, you’ll find lots of videos with people copying the moves. It’s cheesy but it’s meant to be fun and inclusive.

Honestly I think steps are 1 of the only UK 90s comeback groups that have successfully kept what made them great to begin with I.e. the cheesy pop disco feel but modified it enough to make it not only relevant and competitive with music being released today but in their own way lead the pack in how to put forward a message in the songs they release while at the same time keeping it light and joyful to just loose yourself for a while. Although they are so successful and always have been I think for what they have done and continue to do they are so underrated as the artists and legends they are.

Steps are an awesome vocal group with a legacy that began in 1997. They have been written off as cheesy but are far deeper than that (ABBA were written off in the same way). Historically, Claire's voice has often been favoured but in recent years the balance is growing more equal. There's a lot to like in the talents of each singer. A big favourite of mine is "Deeper Shade of Blue", with immaculate harmonies and the official video is a feast for the eyes 💗 Nice one Derek 😀

This is their 4th decade in the business. I was a fan from way back in the "5,6,7,8" days! Steps can do no wrong. I remember buying the "Tragedy" single and the sleeve folded out into the dance routine how-to guide. Gold!

This is definitely one of my all time favorite Steps songs....this was the ideal song to comeback with after not putting out new music for so long... and yes "cheesy" choreo is "their thing"...it always has been, but it's easy to pick up and people love it...each song has it's own particular dance steps to them.

I love Dereck's "OMG! It happened! It happened!" Those dance moves are their signature, but it's totally part of the full Steps experience. Even the mid-tempo songs get them (Story of a Heart, etc.)

STEPS are amazing. I just got a video message from Lee. I kid you not. I nearly fell off my sofa.
SO good. They have some brilliant songs. Tragedy. Deeper Shade of Blue, What the Future holds, Stomp, my personal fave Summer of Love.
I think the choreography is supposed to be cheesy. When they first came out they were UBER cheese. 5,6,7,8 was their first song and is gay guys were learning ALL the dance moves to do in the gay clubs in the UK. It was amazing seeing the whole dance floor performing their cheesy dance routines. It just made it all the more inclusive when it happened.

It's completely marketing! Promotion especially back when they first came around in the '90s it was hard to do promotion unless they came over and did a promotional tour which they did and went on tour as Britney Spears opening apps across North America but still wasn't enough for them to crack the US (which by the way is very hard for some British acts Just look at Little Mix, how those girls have not cracked the US is beyond me It's total marketing and promotion because those girls are definitely way better than some of the acts in the US) But back to Steps, they are definitely amazing and the cheesy choreographed dance moves are definitely a part of their charm and attraction... It's what the group is based on actually.
