Edith says something every time after closing a story. Except after Gregory she is just silent. Powerful moment.
It really is, especially considering she was pregnant at the time.
that really really REALLY made me just lose it
Some people cry, some people don't. Some people are upset, others laugh. But there's one thing everybody looks at with disgust... And it's the carpet in the pink bathroom!
@@Sataandagi96 😂🤮
@@Sataandagi96 That pink carpet in the bathroom was CRIMINAL 😭
@@Sataandagi96 ughhhhhh the pink bathroom (>~
Months afterwards, Edith gives birth to her son, Christopher and is indicated to have died during childbirth, a month before her eighteenth birthday. She leaves to her only son the journal she had written in, and at the end of the game, he places flowers on her grave outside the house.
Thats the ending is that she died giving birth to her son who is the last surviving family member. When it showed you going threw a tunnel into a light at the end that was her giving birth to the son and rught after you come into the light she says I cant be with you. Dunno if you initially caught onto that but it's really sad. I'm glad you enjoyed it, it was a really good watch after a long day at work lol.
@@canadat4380what’s is also very sad is that her son probably will also have an untimely death, only Edie escaped it.
@@rafaelalodio5116yeah it's a sad game all around that shows generations of tragic
@@rafaelalodio5116 i think edith’s son wouldn’t have an untimely death. it’s not like the curse is actually real. the reason why the finchs die young is because of parental neglect/ bad decisions. christopher would grow up with a different family, so he would likely live a normal length because the family he lives with won’t be as neglectful as the finchs (hopefully)
@@daven9708 I don’t think the train was actually what was causing the shaking I think it was a physical representation of his fear of the outside it stopped when he got tired of being afraid.
I feel like there is no game like this. It hits your really deep playing the last moments of almost the whole family. Especially a baby...
I never hesitate to click when I see someone has played this game. It's beautiful and heartwarming and heartbreaking...
I was hoping every time you looked down that you would notice Edith's belly.

"It makes me emotional just the thought of anything bad happening to children"
Me: * nervous chuckling *
All the deaths in this game hurt me on a very deep levek, but Walter's death hurt me in a different way.
The fact that he never got to try out the food still haunts me to this day.
I can’t even imagine hearing that comment out of my mouth and knowing what’s coming lol smh
Was just coming to mention that. My face when it was said was probably like 😬🫣
There’s a two theories about Milton- realistically he may have got trapped in the secret passage ways and died and that’s why dawn sealed the rooms up - OR there’s actually another game by these devs which basically tells that Milton actually did go to another realm of his own making becoming a king, it’s called The Unfinished Swan :)
I love watching people discover this absolute gem of a game. The storytelling. The environment. The music. 😍
What Remains of Edith Finch took me on an emotional rollercoaster like no other game has before. Each story is a poignant, bittersweet reflection on life, loss, and the fleeting nature of existence. I found myself deeply connected to the characters, feeling their joys, sorrows, and regrets as if they were my own. This game doesn’t just tell a story it makes you feel it. Truly an unforgettable experience.
Not me screaming at my screen "LOOK THROUGH THE PEEP HOLES!!!"
@@shainaphillips7216 RIGHT
"Sky I know the past 90mins have been harrowing and a lot of grief has been pushed on you, buuuuut we're just going to drown a baby in front of you is that cool beans?"
In all seriousness, this is a timeless classic in narrative focused games and im glad you got to experience it. Everyone should.
Such a good game tbh, Love that we getting a 2 hour gameplay for it.
❤❤❤❤
Wow lol. She might have actually seen my comment recommending the game ❤️@@Skyytea
Good streaming and great game, Skytea!!

Yes. You are a good streamer, Skytea. Bleesings.
To make it more clear:
Molly: (the 10 year old girl and also the first story) died because of food poisoning, she ate toothpaste and holly berries which caused hallucinations and that’s why those weird things you had to do like eating the bird, rabbits, seals and the people.
Odin: drowned in the sea by sailing with the house
Calvin: fell of the cliff by going around on the swingset
Barbara: got murdered by a group who were described as the monsters in the comic
Walter: thought his big sister Barbara died by a monster, that’s why he thought the shaking in his bunker came from the monster but it was a train instead and he got hit by it when he wanted to escape finally
Sam: fell of a cliff just like his brother but instead by a deer that was still alive
Gregory: drowned in the bathtub
Gus: got hit by the tent on the beach, you could clearly see that was happening
Milton: disappeared through his own painting, there’s actually a whole different game about it named the unfinished swan.
Lewis: got his head cut off because he imagined he was going to be crowned
Edie: died because of her medication in combination with too much alcohol
Dawn: died of sickness
Edith: died during/after child birth
And indeed Edith's child named Christopher was in the beginning of the game on the boat to visit her grave while reading through her journal she wrote for him.
There's still debate over how Gus died. He might've simply got hit by a tent in the wind, might've been struck by lightning, might've been crushed by the totem pole behind him
@@carl_consumer.of.reality I always believed it was the tent since that's what you see is happening, but I think we all can agree that either way it was horrible
i'll add that, with Lewis, i don't think he accidentally died because he was imagining being crowned. it's hard to describe maladaptive daydreaming, Lewis believed in his imagination yet was very aware that reality and his imagination were separate; that's what made him so upset. he hated his "real" self, he didn't want to live that life anymore. so he purposefully killed himself. the reasoning was a mix between not being able to handle living his real life anymore, and the delusion that if he were to cease to exist in the real world, he'd be able to live in the imaginary world. sometimes people with maladaptive daydreaming truly believe that.
@@ninetailskwami yeah I know that, I just described it shortly
The holly berries Molly ingested could have killed her. While toxic, in small doses, they can cause only digestion ailments. In larger quantities, I can definitely see a stronger reaction.
No recipe I have ever encountered involved using holly berries as an ingredient.
definitely a mix of that and the toothpaste she ate especially back then a lot of that stuff had really bad toxins
It was probably a mix of all three. Although gerball food that's been sitting in the same container as poo, toothpaste from back then, and holly berries wouldn't be enough to kill you in small enough quantities on their own, when eaten altogether, it probably would have been enough to kill someone Molly's age.
@@calrosefsky8550 Given Molly's age, the holly berries could have, but I also agree with your assessment.
I absolutely loved this game. Destroyed me at the end but..just beautiful story telling. One of my all time favorites, so cool to see you play this Sky!
This game was probably the most pleasant surprise I've ever had in gaming, going in blind. I just love how evident the amount of love that went into this game is.
I'm a 40-year-old man and I often have problems showing emotion, but this game... every single death scene brings tears to my eyes. Thanks for playing.
Such emotionally great story telling in this game! Oh and I would suggest playing The Unfinished Swan, it’s their earlier game and it tells Milton’s story. It’s another short cute artistic game. I think you would enjoy it.
When I saw you were playing What Remains of Edith Finch I knew you were in for an emotional journey. This was such a wonderful surprise of a game. I love how the individual stories feel unique. I'm glad you found the time to play this and it would be great to see you play smaller games between the big titles everyone wants to see.
If you ever want to play another Walking Simulator with an emotional story (not in the same way) I recommend The Beginner's Guide and Superliminal. Superliminal is less character focused, and has interesting game mechanics whereas The Beginner's Guide has a lot of character/story focus.
I have watched so many people play this game but I find it's my favorite to watch someone who gets as invested and emotional about the story as I do. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I love when a game has one final gut punch. Very powerful story telling. Not all gameplay was fun, but it served the story well. Thanks for sharing your journey with us.
Also I love these long 2+ hour videos, especially when they're just plain CZcams playthroughs and not a stream recording or something like that, just a nice, focused, and cozy experience throughout :)
@@parsa475 Yeah, ngl, I've getting annoyed when trying to find stuff like this and just a deluge of stream VODs everywhere
If you happen to wanna play another shorter game that feels similar to this one, I'd recommend playing Firewatch. It's a calm and yet very atmospheric game that draws you in with its mystery.
Wow, that was the most beautifully unsettling game I've ever seen. The Lewis sequence was absolutely masterful.
What’s really cool is that you control the fish chopping with one joystick and the adventure movement with the other joystick, mirroring what’s going on in Lewis’s head!
This is definitely one of my favourite playthroughs of this game that I've seen. I love how thorough you are, how insightful, and your vulnerability. So glad you loved it ❤
FUN FACT: All of Milton's drawings and paintings are locations and characters from a previous Giant Sparrow game called The Unfinished Swan.
YAAAAS definitely one of my all time favs!!! Cannot wait to watch this!!
Just finished the vid. The best way i could describe this experience is beautifully devastating. I actually teared up a few times lol. Thanks for sharing this game with us!
I’ve been meaning to play this game for YEARS! Guess I need to get to it soon so I can watch this video lol
This is an absolute MUST PLAY! ❤
Yeah, it's definitely one I would recommend playing yourself. DO IT!
Been avoiding anything to do with this game as I played it with my girlfriend and I lost her only 2 months later, it has so many feelings in it for me that's bittersweet.
But I love your attentive playthroughs so now's the time to enjoy it through new lenses 😊 It really is a little gem of a game.
I'm so sorry
@@carl_consumer.of.reality Its life mate 😊 Hope your family is well
i know just how you feel with losing a partner. hang in there
@@georgiadelavega Appreciate it friend 😊
That hurt. Hope you heal well and have warm memories of good times spent together.
A fantastic game, adventurous and tragic. Quite unique and memorable. The way Edith says “good luck” in the end really moved me.
I’ll always remember this one.
This game is a real gut punch isn’t it? The narration, the stories the soundtrack, it’s so beautiful and so sad.
Also, when you feeling ready for another tear jerker, a nice game to play would be Before Your Eyes, it is about the life of a person named Daniel and it is played through an eye tracking and blinking mechanic, it’s wonderful.
the direction of this game is incredible. dark, yes but so unique.
I believe there was no curse Edie believed in it due to everyone dying in her family but really there were just tragic accidents that occurred murder, sickness, drownings, suicide etc
I am SO glad you played this game. It's one of my all-time favorites. I appreciate your reactions to the stories - mine were much the same. Thanks for the great content; your channel never disappoints. Can't wait to see what's next!
I played this game as a bridge in between 2 big games like 3 years ago and that 2 hours stayed with me ever since. It really is a unique experience that's somewhat highly optimistic even through all these tragedies.
Okay you need to play SOMA now for a totally different kind of emotional rollercoaster.
You will find those flowers if you go outside and explore the wilderness...its called foxglove flower
I stepped on a nail once. I was on my way out the door to school, very young, and there was a nail sticking out of some wood off to the side, we were renovating at the time, and me, in my invite wisdom, decided to see if my shoes could stop the nail and without a second thought I stomped on the nail only for it to go through my shoe and foot like butter....safe to say school didn't happen that day 😅😅😅
I've played many games and this is the only one that broke me and had me in tears. As someone with depression I cry everytime i saw gameplay of this or replayed it, haha i cried watching you play. Such an amazing story.
The story about Gus is that he got crushed by the tent/totem pole if I remember correctly.
Also, there are other lovely walking simulators like this (focusing almost exclusively on story and not game play)
A couple of other good ones are
-The unfinished swan which is connected to this game,
-Firewatch
Other games I recommend to anyone that will listen are the Nancy Drew PC games (Secret of Shadow Ranch and Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon are good starting points if you are interested)
This is the first I've heard of What Remains of Edith Finch but
I'm always interested in the games that you play i can't wait
to watch have a great Friday and Weekend Sky 👋💓☕
Love your playthroughs. From Red Dead 2... on.
You're very pleasant to watch and listen to and you are a very warm hearted person.
Whoever is in your life they are blessed.
Looking forward to more videos.
So wild finding out Sky has no idea how to use a swing… hahaha
How the hell did it not register to me until you said it that the branches in Edith’s journal was a damn family tree! Jesus my mind is slow sometimes.😂
I have never played this game, and I’ve only heard of it a couple times by name only, so this video was my first experience with it. I was so moved by this game. I actually shed a couple tears throughout the two hours, something that’s very rare for a video game to do to me. You called it beautifully tragic and that’s the best way I can think to describe what I just experienced. Thank you for introducing me to this game. I’ll be thinking about this one for a while.
1:41:04 About Gus, remember the main thing about him was flying a kite. A thunderstorm came rolling in - and he STILL kept flying that kite.
He got struck by lightning and then fell to the ground...
I think he got crushed by the totem pole, but that one works too.
Hey sky, just a suggestion.
You can try FEARS TO FATHOM - an episodic horror game containing 4 episodes till now. It's actually really good and famous.
It's not actually supernatural, but deals with our day to day problem in a bit horrific way like "your ex trying to get you back to her by killing you". The first episode is rather a very small one and is actually not that good(it's about 20 mins or so). So if you want to start with it, you can. Just wait till you reach the 4th episode, cuz it's definitely one of the most creepiest stuff that i have seen in non supernatural horror games.
And btw these episodes are based on irl experiences...
People in the comment, do not hesitate to vouch for me...
Love the Fears to Fathom series!!
The saddest thing is that sky does not play indie horror games... i think that if she would have played then she would have definitely played fears to fathom...
Sky I will love fears to fathom in your channel.❤❤
I would love fears to fathom ironbark lookout or the Carson house
That'd be cool
Joseph Anderson's "The Villain of Edith Finch" is a pretty good watch
Great game. As for the deer in the begining I became friends with one in real life. I fed an apple to one in my backyard. A large buck, actually. It stayed around to eat. More were around. I fed another buck, and stayed around me for an hour. Fed chipmunks too. I loved this game. Very emotional one.
Yeah, this game is great I played it last year definitely stuck with me. Nice surprise to see you upload this
It had me in tears when I was wondering how Edith died and realized she died giving birth to her kid. Had me bawling my eyes out.
Definitely a hidden gem that’s short and sweet and sticks with me to this day
This video popped up randomly for my viewing. I loved this game. Your immediate reaction to the pink bathroom...I think we all shared that😂. Truly tragic game. No harm in crying, I know I did at certain points.
Yess to more indie games! Thank you so much Skye
It always cracks me up watching literally everyone fail at using both legs to swing.
Another game that you should play is "the suicide of Rachel foster" I don't you will be disappointed... it's really worth it!
@@JD10jr it is a little spooky in places though, and Sky should probably know that going in
I have mixed feelings on it because it felt like it glorified things that I don’t agree with.
I don’t judge you or anyone who has played it and enjoyed it. This is just my opinion and it is completely fine if your opinion is different than mine.
It just felt like the developers could have been a little more thoughtful in how things came across.
so theres another game called "the unfinished swan" which basically follows the story of what happened to milton (the brother who disapeard and was never found) def worth checking out
I'm so happy you got to play this game, it really is a magical experience. One of the best shorter games imo. Do you have any plans to play similar games like this for CZcams? Because I love these shorter playthroughs. ❤
Check out the Firewatch game. It has an interesting story and the graphics are very nice
nice choice ( the flowers are Fox gloves) The stuff round the doors , spray foam or expanding foam in uk)
Loved this game , also the fact I have a great great great grandma Edith
Another whimsical/mysterious indie game recommendation: “Inside” by PlayDead Studios. It’s on the longer side however but it’s also gorgeous and has an element of mystery to your surroundings like this game.
Alright, let's get my box of tissues ready. most people who have played it have gotten misty eyed
41:45 does anyone else recognize that frog 😮😮😮
There’s not many games that are as beautifully crafted as this game. I’m so glad I got to watch you play it.
When you look down at your feet around the house you can see that she’s pregnant. There were a few times I thought you would notice, particularly when you were stepping on the packing peanuts!
There’s a theory that great grandma Eddie (one of the only ones to live to a ripe age) is the one behind all the deaths. There’s a video on YT somewhere. Don’t know if I buy it but if it’s true, this does a 180 on my perspective of this whole game.
dang, turned out to be a really interesting game. glad u took the time to both play it and stream it - cause I got to experience this through u, as I dont typically play these sorta games - so def worth the watch and experience.
gg
I just played this game recently myself, amazingly well made with a well told story...but it really is incredibly sad, especially at the end, when you see her gravestone, and realize she was only 18 years old when she died...
Loved this, one of my favorite games and one of my favorite playthroughs of it. Glad you enjoyed it, it’ll stay with you for a long time! ❤
Pleasantly surprised that you played this game.😊 Hope I see To The Moon here one day. There are lots of Indie gems that IMHO, are better than AAA games this days.
There’s a great video by Joseph Anderson called “The Villain of Edith Finch” and it’s a great breakdown of what each story was about and how the “Villain” of the story was interconnected between these stories.
A great watch and highly recommended.
Ok the Walter part just shattered me😢. And now I have to work. Uuuuugh
Same, such a sad ending.
A weeks, all he wanted was at least a week, poor fella didn’t got a minute.
9:42 Wow I’ve never gotten this dialogue before. Seeing how the swing is still wrapped around the tree branch is crazy to me.
I played this years ago, and it is by far one of my favorites! I'm glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
Hope you make more of these off-stream playthroughs! It was nice hearing your commentary and get really invested!
For Milton's story, you have to play The Unfinished Swan. It's amazing
1:25:20 That skip of dialogue... "Shooting is... Perfect!"
I think the boy with the kite was impaled by a leg of the tent. Either that, or it knocked him so hard in the head that he was hemorrhaging and died because no one found him.
Hurray for indie games. Modern AAA is bad.
I bought this game on day 1. I loved it so much, I stopped myself to make 3-4 days out of it. When the end hit, let's just say, it's something I'll never forget in my gaming life. Probably the greatest short gaming story I ever experienced.
So excited to see what this game is about
It was confirmed by the devs that Milton is the King in their other game, "The Unfinished Swan"
Great choice for a walkthrough. love this game!
Just finished the vid. Wow. Incredible game. I think Walter and Lewis' stories hit me the hardest. It's very beautifully written. I'm glad you showed me this one.
1:59:24 they are all dressed black because it’s Lewis, the cannery worker‘s funeral. But it’s also Lewis the new king‘s coronation :)
Would love to see you play Black Myth Wukong. It's a great game tbh
The replay value is sadly minimal, but I had a good time playing this game over a year ago. Got it for real cheap along with other indies lolz!
Beautiful game. Beautiful play through.
That was a really powerful story. I wish I'd have played it. It's def an emotional rollercoaster.
Congratulations on 120k subscribers!!! Very proud and happy you’re getting more recognition !
I've played this game and watched many playthroughs and this is the first time I've seen that vehicle honking the horn when the shark was crossing the road.
Not sure if others have mentioned it, but The Unfinished Swan is Milton’s game.
That opening Bach music piece is amazing
Walter: im free yay!
Train: hold that thought
All I can say is Wow… what an amazing story and beautiful play through.. thanks Sky🍻
I had a rusty nail go through the middle of the palm of my hand when I was a kid. I wanted to reach behind this fence to get a ball, so a friend pulled a board back to where I could reach my hand in. Just as I was putting my hand past that board, it slipped out of my friends hands and slammed into my palm, there was a nail in the board. She had to pull the board out again to free my hand….that was fun.
one of my favorite “walking simulators” felt like a gut-punch when the credits started rolling.
Can't wait to watch this. I am also going in blind
Put your glasses on then! 🤪
@@Skyytea You're hilarious... 😂
The family in this game reminds me of the Von Erich family. They were famous in pro wrestling and the family was also cursed. Family of 8. 6 sons. 5 of the sons died of different circumstances but 1 is still alive.😢 There is a movie about them called The Iron Claw.
Skyyy have you played Little Nightmares? if it isn’t on your list, you should check it out. I feel like it’d be fun to see you play it;)
such a good (and sad) playthrough! you should definitely give it a try to the "Life is Strange" games (specially 1 & 2) ❤
