I always hear it can be overwhelming, what makes it so overwhelming?
@@noanswer2003 I hope I understand your question right. If you were working catastrophe Claims, you are assigned 25 to 50 claims all at one time. It is extremely busy, 16 hours a day, crazy, but worth it. This can also happen locally with Daily Claims if there is a large hail storm. You can be assigned 5 to 6 a day, six days a week, possibly even seven days a week, for several weeks to a month. Very long hours, high stress, but worth it.
Daniel do you think you could do a video on how it is to be a adjuster working for a roofing/construction contractor?
@@crypto9god166 I don’t have any experience doing that, so I wouldn’t be a good person to make a video for that topic. It’s probably very similar to the info that you see on my videos.
Is there a such thing as an automotive claims adjuster? I love cars and would love to work with cars within this field. @@danieltheadjuster

Not yet, looking to stay local since hail hit this area last week. Much cheaper to live at home and handle claims than in a hotel!
Same here. I'm 20. waiting to either get trained in class or deployed and trained on the job.

I just have to say, I thought I was the only one that could put together mapping and finding your way around like you described! LOL! But, as a roofing contractor who's not been very happy in this role and been considering adjusting among other careers that can translate in our industry, this video and your happy energy are a huge boost for me. what do you think about drones for the roof? have you used them? do you know of adjusters that use them?
@stopandthinkinsights I love drones for roof inspections, especially on the 13/12 pitches 😆 but the Carriers are slow to adapt this method, and currently we cannot use them. Maybe one day!!
What resources would you recommend to someone who is studying for an adjuster license for Arizona? Any hep would greatly appreciate it.

How frequently, or on what time basis, can a deployed CAT IA expect to be paid while in the field?
@simplybeingshipley Typically whatever you complete in two weeks will be paid, two weeks later. The 1st and the 15th are the approximate pay dates. so whatever you complete up to the 15th, will be paid on the 1st week of the month.
Sorry I’m here a year later after this video was originally uploaded…is this a job I can do evenings and weekends? I work a Monday-Friday 6am-3pm job and have free time outside those hours. Thanks!!!
Thank you for your question. Typically this is a job that has to be done full-time, especially at the beginning. I could choose to work much less now because I’m a field adjuster, and I can choose when I work.
Hi. Is this a job that somebody can get into without any prior experience, or knowledge of the field? It seems like an ideal job for someone that likes to work independently with a hybrid of being on the road and at home.
This job can be started with no experience but it will be several years before you will handling field claims. Get as much training as possible and be ready for CAT events. It can be you opportunity to get in as a brand new adjuster if a big event occurs.
I have been looking into this career field I’m super interested I’ve read that you cannot do it w any type of record but I have also read that you can now i only have really old misdemeanors should i move forward to expunge them first
@edjr2378 I have heard both ideas as well. It really is up to the firms that hire you. If they don't mind, then it doesn't matter, I guess, but I am not sure. It would be good to get them off your record first, if they are old offenses.
I'm a forklift driver in my early 40s, and I'm married to an insurance agent. She got me interested in insurance, but I want nothing to do with sales (I did sales throughout my 20s). I'm doing the course to get licensed as an adjustor, and I'm pretty excited to get into it. I really need a nice change of pace, and this seems super interesting to me
@williamz7011 Very good, insurance sales is definitely not a glamorous part of Insurance, and it is very hard. But adjusting is amazing. You made a good choice.
Same here my wife is a desk adjuster and I work in the Pest Control industry I already have my 620 license so I am waiting for August for a position to open up at her company.

What are your thought regarding someone with a MSW wanting to become an adjuster?
@TeganHoney I think anyone can be an adjuster, if they have the desire to be one. It doesn’t matter about your background, your skill level, your education level, everyone can do this position, if they desire it.
I use to do Insurance Inspections a couple years ago.... Receive report, go to the home, take photos of all sides including roof photos with my raised self stick attachment to my phone, measure the perimeter of the home with the measuring wheel- front, sides, and backyard, sketch the property with the measurements on site then complete digitally via the companies software, etc.... Would you say that's similar experience to you and add onto my resume'? Is it easy to get hired on after you've gained any experience? Also do you have to continue signing up after every year or season with the IA firms?
I've taken the prelicense course and Xactimate course and I plan to sign up with as many IA firms as possible. I would like to do Daily Claims in the field because I really enjoyed the Insurance Inspections, but I'm opened to working desk claims. Also want advice to help me get on the roof (scared of heights)?

Your experience is good, definitely worth putting it on the résumé. They can decide whether they want to accept it or not. Yes, after you get experience it is very easy to find work. If you are persistent, and, like you said, get on lots of rosters, you will find work. Once you’re on the roster, you’re there until they kick you off. Sometimes you may need to renew your contract with them, every year, but that’s a digital signing.
I have people calling me all the time, and I’ve never worked for them. This is the benefit of being on lots of rosters. There will always be work, and it’s nice to get a call for more. As far as being afraid of heights, I’m not sure I could help you with that. You can get rope and harness training, maybe take some courses that will get you on some smaller roofs to see how you do. These rope and harness courses are good for helping you feel comfortable using safety gear. There’s nothing wrong with using it. Thanks for watching.

Is an auto appraiser legal required to physically go out and view the vehicle before they total a car out or can they do it based off photos from an online Auction house " staging area"?
I think most inspections are in field. VIN # has to be confirmed.
Hello 👋. I've got my TX All Lines, signed up to a couple IA firms. Do i have to wait to get in with those firms before i can do additional certs and training? Do you know of a source i can use to locate adjusters near me to shadow?

Hello, I'm in TX and literally just finished my All Lines pre license course and Xactimate course. I'm waiting on insurance approval for my app. How long did it take for the state to get you approved upon submitting your application with attachments? Also have you heard back from any firms, if so, which ones?
@@TripleBlsdNHlyFvrd it takes a little bit of time to hear back from Texas, but continue with any other certifications that you can take. Get signed up on rosters and make sure your résumé looks great. You are definitely on the right path.

What type of adjuster are you ? Do you work for a specific insurance company as a field adjuster, or are you an independent adjuster for a separate company ?
I am an independent adjuster. I can work for any insurance company through a firm. There are hundreds of firms that hire independent adjusters. So much work out there!!
@@danieltheadjuster I am currently and intern for auto owners working in claims and I do a lot of invoicing for independent adjusters. The thing that scares me the most about pursuing adjusting is the lengthy reports that come along with each invoice. How would you describe the amount of paperwork/report work part of the job ?
As far as the report, no more than 30 minutes to write the report. As far as invoicing less than two minutes. Alacrity and several other firms that I work for now have automated and pre-populated invoices that work in excel. Very simple. I would never say reports are the hangup of my job. I would say drive time and photo labeling, are my biggest time consumers.

I have my 70-20 FL license and level 1 xactimate certification. I’ve only been in claims a yr and half. Is doing All perils hard? Also, did ur company provide u with a company car?
@chittalkstudio Congrats! As you write more and more estimates, your skills will increase. It’s not that hard after many years of practice. As an Independent Adjuster, you are responsible for all of your own expenses including your vehicle. I’ve never had a company car.
You get a substantial amount of hail damage on the homes you inspect. What area(s) do you usually cover?
I’m in the Raleigh North Carolina area. I cover about an hour and a half radius from Raleigh.

Does adjuster work for insurance co, represent the insurance co?
We actually work for a firm, that talks to the insurance company. And yes, to some extent we represent the insurance company we work for. But we are independents. We are right in the middle.
To be this career do you need a degree? Or is there a trainee position you can start as?
You do not need a degree to be an adjuster. But you do need training. Some insurance carriers require a certification in order to handle their insurance claims. They are licensing requirements for most States.

No, most insurance carriers do not allow drone inspections as an independent adjuster. Boots on the roof.

Yes, essentially it’s the same. The claims examiner might be a lower pay than the other job, with no experience.
