  • We review and test the Hoover ONEPWR Evolve cordless vacuum on carpet, hard flooring, and hair. We also test run times, noise levels, edge cleaning and more. See the Hoover ONEPWR Evolve on Amazon: amzn.to/3gEpEst

In this video review we start by showing what's in the box of the Hoover ONEPWR Evolve. We highlight the fact that the vacuum also comes with absolutely no tools or attachments.
We then walk through the vacuum controls and discuss what each "mode" means - in terms of suction and brushroll speed. We follow up by describing the lithium ion battery and Hoover's ONEPWR system and how it is an asset with a swappable battery (like the one on the Evolve). We also tell you how long it takes to fully charge a depleted battery.
The cleaner head is quite generic and we show the underside of the vacuum. We also show, in detail, how to remove the brushroll should you need to clean it. And how to reinstall it.
We have read a host of owner comments on the vacuum and found several that state the vacuum can struggle on deep pile carpet (it can bog down). So we tested the Evolve on our very deep carpet and to our surprise it performed just fine. We show a short clip on the unit operating on very deep pile carpet.
The dust canister has a capacity of 1 liter and we compare that volume to several other cordless stick vacuums. In short, the dust canister capacity of the Evolve is quite good and you should not find yourself having to empty it too frequently.
We perform run time tests in all of the vacuum modes and on both medium pile carpet and hard flooring (tile). We create a table and discuss all of the run time test results.
Movement of the unit is good on hard floors and average on carpet and we show the Evolve moving on both surfaces.
Cleaning tests are performed on low pile carpet and tile floors. We create our own debris (which is carefully measured and weighed) and it is placed on the floor. The vacuum is run over it in about a 10 second pass and the pickup (by weight) is determined (as a percentage of the original debris weight). We show this in a table and discuss cleaning performance results. An edge cleaning test is also run and discussed.
Hair pickup and how much remains on the brushroll is a key test and we run the Evolve over both long black human hair and short white pet hair to see how it performs. The Evolve does not have ant-tangle technology in its cleaner head and we compare the hair test results to a vacuum that does have this technology.
Using a digital noise level meter we test the Evolve noise level in carpet mode and hard floor mode. We compare it to other loud and quiet cordless vacuum cleaners.
This is a fairly inexpensive machine and fit and finish are average. We also hightlight a few issues we have had with the vacuum.

What is the best cordless vac that stands on its on. That doesn’t have to lean on wall when you stop for a minute to move something and start again.

    Thank you for the review!
I bought one, but I haven't been able to detach the handle.... how do you detach it?

    Beautiful breakdown... thumbs up

I have one it is a great vacuum in all areas. I have mostly hardwood floors and area rugs and it cleans all very well, but it's went through batteries every couple months till warranty was over and I can find any batteries in stock right now.
As of 11/15/22 I decided to make the final upgrade to the V15 Detect Absolute where I'm confident that it will do what I need and I won't have to buy multiple cleaners with a battery I do not trust.

    Thanks for another fantastic review!
Edit: Question, what qualifies a vacuum for a "What We Love/Dislike" type video vs a normal review?

I'm hoping this is a permanent shift to single review presentations that include both the positives and negatives - I've never understood the desire for separate videos. Some things are just just "information", without being "positive" or "negative", too - having just one video makes it easier.

Excellent video! I mean, technically I havent had enough time to watch it all yet, but I know it'll be great!
Update: excellent video! My only suggestion is that the mic you use to record the sounds of the vacuums will often clip and distort. Perhaps a different mic could fix the issue?

@@VacuumAdvisor it’s not the microphone that’s causing it to clip. It’s the decibel difference you’re pushing when recording to whatever recorder or camera you’re recording to. The vacuum is going to be WAY higher than your voice so when transitioning you’re going to need to keep it at a level for your voice then drop it probably 15 decibels once you turn the vacuum on.

yes you can, where the hose attaches into the floor head there is a tab you push and it unclips so you can access any blockages

Unlike the Hoover, this guy does not have a sparse package, so I hear.
