Dyson V12 Review & Tests
We review and test the Dyson V12 Detect Slim cordless vacuum. Tests include carpet, hard floor, hair, edges, noise level, etc. We also dicuss all vacuum features. See it on Amazon: amzn.to/3GJmH7D
Also see the written V12 review: vacuum-cleaner-advisor.com/Dyson-Vacuums/dyson-v12-review.html
We highlight that there are currently three V12 models and we show and what is in the box when you get your V12. We also we test the Hair Screw Tool on debris and hair.
We show the tool clip and what tools will fit on it and how it works. The Motorbar cleaner head is removed from the vacuum and each detail of the cleaner head is discussed. We show how the anti-tangle technology works and how to remove and reinstall the brushroll. We do the same thing for the Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head.
The V12 is the first Dyson cordless vacuum we've reviewed with a power button as opposed to a power trigger. We walk through how each works.
There are three power modes. ECO, AUTO and BOOST. AUTO is an excellent feature and we discuss how the dust sensor increases and decreases suction depending on the amount of dust in the incoming air. Also, AUTO power mode only works with motorized tools so when using the crevice tool and the combo tool, AUTO becomes MEDIUM. The vacuum does this automatically.
A table is provided that compares the suction power of the Dyson V12 with that of the V7, V8, V10, V11 and V15.
We also discuss how powerful or weak the suction power of the V12 is.
This unit has a click-in battery which makes it easy to charge (can be charged on or off the vacuum) and can also double your runtime should you go out and buy a second battery. This is a brilliant feature for those who want or need a longer run time.
We show the features of the LCD control panel on the back of the handheld unit.
We test run times in all three power modes and on both carpet and hard flooring. We compare our results to those of the manufacturer.
We weighed the V12 at 5.2 lbs with the Motorbar cleaner head and 4.6 lbs with the Fluffy cleaner head. We provide a table that shows where the V12 stands with respect to weight when compared to a host of other cordless machines we've reviewed over the years.
V12 movement is excellent as is the movement of pretty much every Dyson cordless we've had the opportunity to investigate.
We performed a series of cleaning tests. Low Pile Carpet, Tile, Hair, Edges. Each test is shown and the results are discussed.
The dust canister on the vacuum is small. We compare it to the size of the dust canisters on other Dyson cordless vacuums and we show how to empty the V12.
A digital noise level meter is used to capture the noise level of the vacuum in all three power modes. We provide a table that compares the V12 noise level to that of other popular cordless vacuums.
We show how to remove and clean the filter and we discuss what a sealed system is and why it is important.
Finally, we provide a summary of our findings.

Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal - Review & Tests
Excellent information and explanation
If you didn't want the spinning brush working, you can just remove it as you would for cleaning and just not put it back in, but replace the side door.
I've ordered one of these, but I find the idea of an app for a stick vacuum ridiculous.
Wish you had shown how to empty the dirt.
❤🎉Daddy said that
Hey I am a freelance video editor and animator from Nepal. I have experties in editing videos related to tech reviews. Would you consider giving me a chance to work with you? If yes then please give me a response.
Thank you for posting this I was very interested in this comparison
Thank you for reviewing
literally every vacuum ever made has a "compression fit system" for hose attachements. I stopped watching this review and gvae it a thumbs down after that dumb line.
Mine came with multiple plastic pieces to try and fit together. Called customer service they don’t even know how to get these contraptions together. Was retain half hour. Garbage product garbage instructions
How in the world does the hose work on this thing? Everytime I release it, the thing shuts off
Thank you for this very thorough review!
Thank you. The tutorial was helpful.
nice video. I would have like to have seen the hardwood roller with hair.
Relaxing voice like Bob Ross👍😄
You are doing the Lord's work with these comparisons. THANK YOU!
A challenge for a man..😅😅
I can't seem to have mine leaned against the wall, is there any lock that i need to put in order for it to stand against the wall?
Someone here who want it to sell the tool floor brush?
I love this vacuum and they dyson discontinue the vacuum. Now I can't get the piece I need it.
I own this vac. I purchased it for two reasons: 1.) it’s lightweight which was important to me since I’m a senior citizen, and 2.) it lies down flat so I can sweep under the beds. I don’t know of any other vacs that can accommodate the 7 inch clearance under a bed. The dust bin is small so you need to empty it often. It’s not meant for heavy duty cleaning. I use it in between more thorough cleanings, and of course for under the beds.
Just bought one. Doesn't work well at all when trying to empty out cat hair. You have to get your finger inside it to scoop it out. Not great
This thing wasn't updated since release. It really needs new brushes they use in their cordless vacuums, but Dyson just wouldn't do it. Too bad that the best tech companies are the most anti-consumer.
I've seen 5-6 reviews of this product, this is by far the most scientific review I've seen and I love it! Best of luck for this channel!
Good evaluation but all of the test are done at a crawl speed.. At those speed, it would take my wife a week to clean the floors !. Suction capacity is very important to consider. Especially if you already have an absolute V-8. The V-8 in eco mode has a better suction capacity compared to the V-12 ! This,is the deal breaker! The only reason Dyson is slowing the speed of the V12 is to get the target one hour of operation.. And yes.. it dose, but the V8 absolute is already missing some suction capacity at the eco. I thought that V-12 would hit it out of the ball park.. ? That means it's less efficient than the previous model (V8 absolute) In my opinion.. It's not worth changing for a new less efficient model. Thanks for the evaluation It help me make my decision.
Can u help to find out the serial on the Dyson multi floor 2
It's sad they stopped updating this bad boy. Cordless vacuum can't replace corded canister. Cordless vacuum is only good for small spaces with little dirt.
I'm wondering how well this vacuum cleans a shag rug...
best review of anything i have ever seen in my life!
What does it mean of it blinks blue
I have a Dyson 2018 and I would never buy another one. It just pushes dirt around and pulls my rugs apart. The suction is powerful I have to pay attention to my rugs.
Minor discrepancy’s. All the tools stack and stay with the machine.
I have one and love it! My $700 Simplicity Symphony Upright died recently. I needed another one quickly, so I purchased the Shark. I couldn’t believe the high amount dirt and hair it picked up after the $700 machine. I am sold and recommend this Shark.
Do not like the power fins they do not dig into and clean the fibers of carpet
I've had mine about 4 years or so and I always cleaned the filters and, of course, emptied the dust bin "(from the bottom." I never thought about opening the dust bin on the top and the unit started getting hot and losing suction and it was because the top part of the dust bin had never been emptied. Ugh!!
Great review thanks 😊 seems like you’ve stopped doing reviews now tho which is a shame
Thank you. Job well done.
You still around? Been too quiet.
Fun fact: 7:40 thats the same style glasses james dyson himself wears
Did you only test it on carpet? I wonder what the edge cleaning result and runtime would've have been if tested on hard floors?
This vacuum cleaner loves to fall over, and when it falls over, it falls over on something nice that you didn’t want dented, like a guitar. It’s designed to be used with the hose, which is the klutziest contraption I’ve ever seen; the hose shrinks under suction, and the whole stupid thing becomes awkward. the attachments get stuck in the end. You might have to break it to get the tool out. so I quit using the Lyft away and the hose and just use it for broad areas which it will vacuum OK and I got a Dyson v8, which works well for 540 seconds which is all the use to get out of the battery on high, as if anybody would put a vacuum cleaner on low suction mode
Way too many tools to raise the price and unnecessarily use the limited natural resources
🤡
You are awesome! Thank you for not making me watch a 20 min video!!
hey i got my pet ball 3 as a replacement because my petbball 2 exploded. well i got the new one a few weeks ago, has a lot of suction, suckedup 4 cats 2 dogs and a horse..well i got them all out of the canister. then they all ran off andhid under beds in walls. then i tried it on my carpet. well here we go again. sucked up 30 yards of carpet. and it then took off dug a hole in the basement and went so deep? it suckedup 6 chinese from china. works fair
I had A11 Master, great vac. Gave it to nephew and replaced with A10 Hero which work just as well. Every use I vacuum the pre-filter. If washed a shop vac will dry the filter in a couple minutes. Vacuums are air handling machines which I take care of. Tineco makes a great product.
One of the best review I've seen in a long time. Outstanding job. Thanks for taken time to share this with us.
I have a Dyson Ball Animal 3 that I purchased 9/24/22. I’ve had to replace 3-4 parts already! This is my 3rd Animal vac. I still have my very first one and it stays in a different part of the house so I don’t have to navigate stairs and carry the vac. The 2nd one I had for several years then it started having parts break after the warranty expired. It was cheaper to buy a new one than to put money in it bc the parts are expensive. This new one is not made with quality materials. I take care of my vac but I do use them a lot, 5-6 days a week. I have never had to use the warranty until I got this vac. The power this vac has is awesome and it’s great for getting up pet fur and other debris. I don’t know what I’ll do after the warranty runs out. I’m really disappointed in how the parts keep breaking. I may have to switch vac brands after this one’s warranty expires bc to pay this much for a vac and have the trouble I’ve been having is really unacceptable.
How do you get under the bed with this heavy bulky vacuum ?
2nd pass would get you to 100% pickup
Love this vacuum but on my carpet kinda hard to push because of the suction
