Off-Roading Abu Dhabi’s 'Hill of Horrors'

- Once a year, the Gulf’s best off-road racers and up to a 100,000 of their fans flock to the UAE desert for the Liwa Sports Festival. During this nine-day explosive dune bashing celebration, competitors push themselves and their heavily modified engines to their absolute limits, trying to break drag race speed records and conquer one of the world’s largest sand dunes, the Tal Moreeb, known as “the hill of horror.”
We follow buggy drag racer Nasser who wants to break his friend’s record, and experienced 4WD dune basher Saeed, as he tries to drive up the enormous, near vertical sand wall.

The host was upset with people doing what people do at car meets or at motorsport events, and get scared when getting to ride in a 1,500hp dune buggy with a very competent driver? How is it possible to find somebody this closeted to host a show about stuff like this?

Honestly at first I was watching and it bothered me he didn’t know much about vehicles, but I continued watching and actually love the fact we all can watch and learn about a sport most westerners haven’t really heard of and it’s awesome, amazing video man, BUT PS: DONT JINX THEM! Aha as a street racer I get mad at all if people expect ANYTHING but a win
The host was too scared to ride in the buggy (so we got one clip of that), he antagonized the driver about his car breaking down, had the nerve to say two-step/anti-lag is annoying, and said no one wants to talk about the dangers as if it were a surprise. Never send this guy to a motor sports event again.

Terrible presenter choice for this event. Dude wanted ear protection for a backfire. He couldn't care less or know less about the sport or even the culture behind it. For an almost 20 minute video I would've expected better. He didn't even do any research on the Moreeb Dune from what I could tell. Almost got me to resubscribe VICE. Almost. Too bad I actually watched the video.

Reporter made it clear he didn't want to be there, so why send him if he couldn't even muster it; there must be something he would've been interested in to report on. Vice, the beauty of your stories are normally your quirky reporters who are genuinely interested in the report and seem to awkwardly, or not, fit in and put themselves out of their comfort zone which somehow gives the films a very organic feel.
