    Duramax is a good motor but extremely limited by the soft front suspension. Even in 3/4 ton I could see independent being ok but the 1 tons, dually or single I could see GM benefit from a Dana 60 solid axle front. Ford & dodge both have comfy coils up front that prove you don’t need independent up front for a decent ride.

    • @hastyhillfarmand4x480
      @hastyhillfarmand4x480 Před 20 dny

      I would never own anything with a computer, a diesel engine, or independent front suspension. 70s and 80s dodges and Chevy's are the only trucks that are built like a real truck, and Chevy is clearly the best out of those year models, dodge is a close 2nd and ford is just a woman's truck since day one.

    Haha the amount of smoke means how much they spent on that engine so that Cummins is upgraded way more then the duramax the duramax had hardly any smoke

    Get the chain level and try it again. The Cummins was lifting weight off Duramax. Not that I give a shit who wins, but make it fair!

    diesel tech... best 2 trucks hands down.. 6.6 dmax with allison trans. and ford 7.3 stroker... both have less issues than any other engine... ive seen a 6.6 hit 1mill with just oil changes n glow plugs... one i saw hit 759k with JUST oil changes..idiots first vehicle... changed his own oil..never remembered the filter... wtf? and as for 7.3.. no bullet proofing.. like dmax6.6 both solid motors.. 7.3 only real issue I saw much of was water pump probs..

    • @txoptimusbob
      @txoptimusbob Před 4 lety

      Hard to make a transmission that can handle the stress of the Cummins diesel. Definitely a weak point

    • @ianberry5879
      @ianberry5879 Před 4 lety

      The Torqueflite series has a multitude of options for beefing up the 47/48 transmissions. Idk if it's still current, at one time the fastest diesel on the world was a Dmax......with a Dodge transmission behind it. Those Allisons last a long time behind a stock engine but once you start adding power, bye bye. Limp Mode City here we come. Even just a tuner with no engine mods is hard on a stock Allison. But who knows about the weakness of the Allison when the engine doesn't last long enough to break it before blowing the injectors, losing a head gasket or two, the turbo fails again, the pistons melt, the rods bend or the crankshaft breaks?

      kevin leigh you can't possibly have that many miles on your 6.4. Wait until you have to fix that K16 pump that's in the engine valley under your turbo. You'll want to trade your truck in even for a 1997 Volvo convertable.
