      @kidsythe Před 6 lety +2

      Southern Gunner man, I don't wanna write out the math, but basicly traction is a function of weight and and friction. So, while more surface area increase surface friction. It divides the weight up. So, an unloaded dooly, looses more psi of downward force, than is gains from surface friction. Most if the time.

    It's all about traction and weight people. Both Cummins and Duramax can pull whatever but its about having that traction and how heavy something is, even how much resistance your pulling against is a factor. It's called physics. but I will say Cummins all the way 💪🏻.

    @jongiovani4922 Před 6 lety +1

    Even though I've had them all and I'm not biased I have to say that sometimes it's not the power of the engine but it's the traction that you can actually put to the ground. That definitely varies from situation to situation

    Cummins is a specialized engine company. They specialize in making engines, not anything else. Reliability wise, Cummins comes out on top. Plus, the engines, transmissions, tires and differentials (drivetrains) were all different, so this video proves nothing. Cummins is king! (Their engines are out in all sorts of things like trains, boats, trucks, semis and even planes! The list goes on)

    First thing I noticed when the Duramax was pulling the Hogan semi in the snow was the semi driver didn't have his drive axle interlock engaged, which would have sent power to both drive axles. The Duramax was able to overcome that handicap to "git 'er done". BTW, I'm more of a fan of Cummins power plants so these kudos to Duramax (and the skill of the driver) should carry SOME weight. lol

    • @long-dongvonbraun501
      @long-dongvonbraun501 Před 7 lety +10

      +jfdb59 did you even finish high school? Don't make me turn this into physics class. Duallys have extra tires to increase towing and payload capacity. There are FOUR tires creating friction thus creating more traction. Do you want me to get tire sizes and surface area for each tire?

    • @jfdb59
      @jfdb59 Před 7 lety +5

      Fuck off dude. I'm not going to argue with you. Yes make it into a physics, then I suggest you attend it...The tractive effort or force between a car wheel and the surface can be expressed as
      F = μt W
      = μt m ag (1)
      where
      F = traction effort or force acting on the wheel from the surface (N, lbf)
      μt = adhesion coefficient between the wheel and the surface
      W = weight or vertical force between wheel and surface (N, lbf))
      m = mass on the wheel
      So a reduction in WEIGHT results in a reduction of TRACTIVE EFFORT (traction). Get it now. Bye.

    I have two 7.3 diesels.
    One time pulled a 15k lbs trailer with concrete from like a small hole...at idle. I just wanted to take it easy and not brake something so i just put it in D and waited to see how much throttle i should give it.
    The truck started moving and it kept going by itself till it got out. I was like...stunned.
    Also, it spins the tires, on wet, even at 25-35 mph if you do a kick down.
    I use Liqui Molly injection cleaners every 3-5 months though. It really really helps.
    The 7.3 are not as fast as a Cummings, but more lively than a duramax. My opinion.

I know people on the Cummins band wagon two imparticular and their trucks are in the shop at least every two or three months garbage ass transmissions, cabs leak, ac condenser your lucky to get four or five years out of, the paint and interior is in a class of shit all it’s own lol

    I own a Duramax. Love it, but I like Ram too. They are both good at what they do. Close enough that it's splitting hairs. I prefer the old style Allison 6 speed transmission to anything Ram had so that is the deal breaker to me when considering older trucks. Can't go wrong with either one in my eyes though.

    A fight broke out in my welding class the other day between a Cummins fanboy and a Duramax fanboy, I'm more of a Cummins fanboy myself so I joined the Cummins gang on one side of the room. Then when everyone was in position the welding teacher counted down and yelled "fight!", a few kids died and I got a hemorrhage in my brain.

    All you Dodge fan boys need to shut up. The rams have death wobble just like jeeps and fords. Apparently none of you remember the cummins 1st gen dowel pin of death and the 2nd gens blocks that cracked. It's a sad day when the only good auto transmission that will live behind a cummins is a Japanese transmission.
