I saw the movie 1 hour ago here in Germany at the premiere night. I can tell you this: If you liked the first Aquaman you will also like or maybe even love this one. it is slightly better than part 1. It shows more of the underwater world and creatures, the action is great, the soundtrack is epic, CGI is mostly well-done, superheroes mixed with a buddy comedy and lord of the rings,. And before some people ask: Amber Heard has around ~10-15 min screentime and appears throughout the whole runtime but always just for very short scenes - mostly action, barely any talking. no need to wait for the end credits. there's just a little funny mid-credit scene 💙💦👍

Thank you for this comment because I was very worried about this movie. I really liked the first one and it’s my favorite DCEU movie so I was really worried about all the projections and rumors of it being a disappointing movie. Glad to hear it keeps very much in the sprit of the first movie.

I bought my ticket cause cineplex has a deal in Canada where if you see Wonka, Aquaman 2, and The Color Purple before December 31st, you get 5000 scene plus points to use on other, better movies. You got people that are hating on movies just to hate on them just to make sure that the movie bombs especially when it has a woman in the main role or a black person or black woman in the main role let's just call it, what it is. That may not be the case for this movie but it is a superhero film and people are just hating on superhero films now cuz that's the thing to do so no let the audience tell people how good the movie is. Especially since you said Flash was actually good! You definitely can't be trusted!!!

How can WB and disney keep losing hundreds of millions? Surely it's going to ripple through to lots of films relying oh blockbuster money. Surely streaming revenue isn't plugging the gap.

They could just let Momoa go out there and be himself, leaning into the absurdity of the situation just to get it to make a little more money. What sense does it make to do what they are doing? This ensures it will make no money. Zaslov is a joke at this point.
May be it won't make money in USA but here in international market it will all my theater was enjoying the movie and it's a 9/10 for me if you liked the first one you like this one as well
ive been rewatching all the films as they were just dumped on netflix, and unfortunately ALOT of them don't hold up even from a few years ago, the grimdark attitude is just meh
Is that why WB and Paramount are thinking of merging? i got my ticket for Aquaman tmrw night on Imax and will go see it with an open mind and hope it closes the DCEU on a semi-positive note. In reality, even if the movie is a hit, Momoa's time as the king of Atlantis is done since he already has his next role which is Lobo.

Edwin, sweet. for those going through the comments, I've got good news. God is good because He gives His blessings to everyone, whether they be good or bad. but everyone has at least, told a lie, or stolen something in their life. and that makes them sinners, and God will not allow sinners in heaven; in His presence, because He is holy. so, God has to punish the sinners in hell, because God is severe and just. but God is also love and He made a way for some to be saved from His wrath. here are the steps:
1. admit that you're a sinner and are lost.
2. realize that the penalty of sin is death (hell).
3. believe that Jesus (who is God) died on the cross, was buried, then rose from the grave, to pay the penalty for man's past, present, and future sins.
4. trust Christ alone as your Savior, and not on your own good deeds to get you to heaven (nor a combination of your faith and self-righteous works).
5. pray to God NOW that you're accepting Christ's free gift of salvation because if you die before making this decision, it's too late, and you'll 🔥🥵😈
6. and to be a disciple, tell people about Jesus, read the bible, go to church regularly to know God's will for your life.

I think they don’t believe in the critics. I like the idea of waiting until the day the movie comes out. I think it makes more sense to wait until after the movie comes out.
I am NOT a fan of Amber Heard and what she got away with...
I am pleased that WB pulled her from promoting this film and cut her scenes as much as possible without losing a story...for that reason and after hearing some in this chat that have seen this film and say she is 10-15 minutes in it...because of this I think I will go see it tomorrow and try to look past her bad acting. Originally, I was not going to see it...I am very interested in The Campea crews response once you see it

I love the first aquaman aside from the africa cover by pit bull. It was mindless too tier action and a simple plot with great visuals.

I adore James Wan, but Aquaman was one of the most insufferable movies I ever had to painfully sit through. Honestly, I probably wouldn't hate it so much, but I was the sober driver at the time I had no choice but to endure it...
It would have been the only move I've ever walked out on in my entire life, if I could have. This sequel looks better, and I'll watch it, just not in theaters.
I enjoyed Aquaman, the sequel is worse tbh.

@@TheLegendOfRandy I just watched Aquaman this month, when it came out the visuals in the trailer hurt my eyes so I avoided it lol. But I think Wan pushed the CG to it's respectable limits in the first film. The sequel reviews are heavily talking aout the overdesigned and ugly visuals.
@@_M.... lol I'm a late 80's baby and I grew up on horrible special effects and stop-motion animation and such and I could care _less_ about "bad" effects.
Just give me interesting characters and a compelling plot and I'll watch any hot garbage, no matter how horrible the effects are, so long as it's an interesting plot with likeable characters.
By today's standards, the effects in the original Terminator are horrible, but the plot, editing, pacing and characters are _perfect._
To me, CGI is the _least_ most important aspect of film-making.

The 1st Aquaman had the best 4dx effects of a film in the format I have seen so I'm hoping the sequel will be just as good.

I have just watched the movie! Is a fun movie. Just the ending is funny nonsensical.
If aquaman fails I wouldn't blame James Wan, I WOULD BLAME, AS ALWAYS, THE STUDIO. I understand why this movie got pushed back, but maybe WB was too reactionary about this whole amber heard situation so they decided to spend more time and money allegedly trying to cut Amber's role in the movie and shooting new stuff with Ben Affleck. Some reports said aquaman 2 was a miss, well if it turns out to be then it's all because of bad decision making

They are doing their best to not support the movie, or save money from marketing. Strange behaviour since the original made a billion. James Wan deserved better. If your original film was successful then the studio should give some respect to the director. I can see why Christopher Nolan left WB. Nolan, Snyder, Ayer, Ben Affleck and James Wan all with WB drama episodes.

Im still going to check it out i loved the first one heck i enjoyed The Flash, Blue Beetle and to a lesser extent Shazam 2 and im looking forward to closing out the DCEU and the year with this movie.

It was a fun movie. Great for the family. Is it a 1 billion dollar film? No. Those days are probably over for superhero film. But yes, Aquaman 2 is a decent film to watch.

The word for months from test audiences have been bad, so not a surprise. Especially since there was talks of resorts cuz of said reactions. That being said, I really didn't care for the 1st aquaman movie. It was over hyped for me and just meh, so I could careless for part 2.

It’s gonna flop since:
A: Audiences have given up on the DCEU since the franchise was a mess, inconsistent, etc.
B: Audiences know a reboot is coming out, so they viewed movies like Shazam 2, Flash, etc. as “leftovers” and there’s no point in seeing the 2023 DCEU movies. Warner Bros. basically said that these 2023 movies don’t matter anymore, there’s no point in seeing them, the universe isn’t moving forward, etc.
Most people don't know about the reboot. Also, it wasn't confirmed to be a hard reboot until after The Flash bombed.
@@agentofchaos7456 I do think there are plenty of people who do not know about it, but in the age of the internet, most people who follow movie news, superhero news, etc. know about the reboot and just saw these 2023 DCEU movies as pointless and no reason to see them. I’m a part of that population since I thought seeing them was pointless due to the reboot and I lost faith in the franchise.

I think this movie will open domestically under $30M. Somewhere around $23M. I really will be shocked if it opens with a 3 or 4 in front of it. I’ve seen zero marketing for this movie in the past few weeks. I honestly forgot it was coming out.

Here's something that truly baffles me, and I hope someone can help me figure it out: All of these DCEU films get put onto Netflix at the beginning of December, but one of the ones that's absent in that release is the studio's highest-grossing film that's about to have its sequel drop weeks afterwards. Wouldn't you want to make this Mega Blockbuster easily accessible as a way to promote your upcoming film and generate hype for it WITHOUT spending extra money for marketing?
And yes, I know it's going to drop on January 1st, but two weekends will have passed by then where it could have made more than we know its going to.

I've seen the movie last night. It was actually good and no unfinished VFX either.
People just want the movie to fail may be it will fail in USA but in my country people enjoyed it and theater was full capacity at 7pm I you liked the first one you will love this one
I couldn't care less if Amber Heard was in this movie or for how many scenes. 2 of my favorite comedies are Naked Gun 1 and 2. And they both costar O.J. Simpson as an LAPD detective. It doesn't take away from the movies, which are classic Leslie Nielson hilarious. 😂
Reviewers should never get special showings of any movie before the official release date. They should experience it the same time as everyone else.

They should focus on advertising with great trailers with one line review quotes from the director, writer and cast in the movie and interviews instead of depending on good reviews from critics bribed with early access.

I don't mind if there are people who want to see this movie. That's their right.
Like the first one this one was mid at best, seen a lot worst superhero movies but the first aquaman movie is one of the most overrated.
They spent 300 million on this movie, if it flops they lose 300 million, if they push for marketing and spend say another 200 million, and the movie still flops, then they lose 500 million. This is why they shelve movies.
Just remove Amber Heard and it would've been a success.

I got a terrible sinking feeling about this.
And… oh dear, oh dear. They start the film out by having Jason Momoa smugly narrate how good he is at one really important thing. He is good at “breaking heads”. Because he’s just that kind of Neanderthal.
The film doesn’t mention his powers or stretch or even display the limits of those powers. And it certainly doesn’t praise his intellectual prowess or even his other abilities.
This movie presents the main character as a brick, good for throwing at people and windows to get them to break. And they even have him smarmily announce that all this is because he’s “the king of frickin Atlantis”. And I’m only talking about the first two minutes of the movie so far.
He narrates a lot, interspersed with clips of adventures that have to be better than this one because this film was lousy and lacked any sense of adventure. And the narration makes Momoa sound like a very over-entitled (and terribly stupid) lowbrow moron. that isn’t him, by the way. That’s deliberately how it is written, and how he’s supposed to act. He must’ve hated it.
And as this unconvincing, opening, commences, in the background “Born To Be Wild” plays loudly… possibly to remind you of something actually enjoyable. If it was an attempt to make Aquaman look like a tough guy, then it failed miserably and they might have wanted to try an AC/DC song to try and sell that hackneyed cliche instead.
It doesn’t help that the very moment they are trying to present Momoa as a tough blockhead who doesn’t take nonsense from anyone… is the very moment they suddenly cut away to show him trying to calm a crying baby and play daddy. So that change in scenes immediately undoes any trace of what they had just tried to instill in the minds of the audience.
Suddenly, you feel like you are in a rom-com about a single dad.
The villain (Manta) is as one-dimensional as you can imagine. He has no talents or skills or drive or ingenuity. He actually sits around announcing things like, “Every day I don’t fix my suit is another day Aquaman gets to live…”.
As if there is NO OTHER possible solution. He couldn’t build himself up stronger, or expand his intelligence and outsmart his nemesis with a clever trap or any other solution. Manta is a one-hit wonder on the subject of his power suit. That’s what he wants and all he needs and the entirety of his character. He could have been played by an empty suit for the most part.
His arc starts on a quest to repair his suit and it ends there. Because he foes that nearly immediately and has no other character development of any kind.
As for Aquaman… he doesn’t need a suit. He gets his knowledge and motivations from cryptic dreams that just keep him informed on situations. He seriously relies on prophetic dreams from out of nowhere to chart his actions.
And he is such a strong king, that when he informs his council of plans to save Atlantis from pollution and plague, by revealing its existence to the world, his council tells him that they will reveal Atlantis when they decide to attack the surface dwellers, and not before. So he doesn’t appear in charge of his own kingdom.
And the dialogue is so witty. “You’ve got 15 minutes to get in and out, so there’s no margin for error…“ and “stealth mode, engage…“ and even “we can’t fight their entire army.” These lines are so generic, they could appear in anything from a recent Mission Impossible movie to an old episode of Charlie’s Angels.
And speaking of tired, out-of-date women… Amber Heard is also in this disaster. Don’t worry, she doesn’t ruin the entire film… the film does that for itself. Miss Heard only ruins 37 minutes of this movie; the 37 minutes that she’s in.
She appears to be playing a pissed-off fish stick. That may be part of the bad writing in this film, but is more likely to be down to the reality that she only has one facial expression… unreasonably, furious woman, waiting in the dark for her husband to come home so she can hit him with something heavy. she looks like a cliché from the 1940s, just not wearing actual hair curlers.
Her range is amazing in this movie. Not only can she play a useless cardboard cut out, and a very upset fishwife, she also manages to spend 11 minutes of the movie simply pouting. I’m not sure if she thinks it’s attractive, or the studio believes it is, but whatever the case… it isn’t even slightly engaging. It just makes her look vindictive.
She actually resembles a guest on the Maury show, standing up in front of a crowd insisting some stranger is the father of her baby and that she will make him pay. She is so typical of a guest in that genre, that they should’ve just cast her in a film about the Maury show. That might’ve at least been interesting.
And even though the action scenes would’ve only been her picking up a chair to throw it at some innocent man… those action scenes would still have been more believable than the ones they filmed in the movie.
And once she is proved wrong about the paternity of the child, the guests on Maury’s show act exactly the way Amber does. “No. That IS his baby. He will pay for that baby. Give me my money. I want my money. I don’t care what no DNA test says; that test is a lie. all these people are lying. You lying too. No!!! He WILL pay!!! Where my money. Go run and get me my money… now! Now!! NOW!!!” And then the hysterical woman usually winds up, ripping off her wig, or her weave, and screaming on the floor, while kicking and beating the carpet in frustration like a three-year-old.
Amber should keep that speech handy… once the box office is tallied, she’ll be making that same speech to her agent. “Give me my money. Where my money at? No, you will get me my money right now. Now. NOW!!!” I wonder if she’ll fall to the floor kicking and screaming and ripping off HER wig.

So, even though there has been a blackout on reviewing this film, for some reason, now that the movie is out, the reviews are going to start appearing. And I guarantee you nobody involved with this project is going to like them anymore than the studio does, or the consumers do.
If Disney really wants to save itself and promote fairness and equity, the first thing they need to do is shit-can Amber Heard… before the smell of spoiled tuna gets so profound that it chokes everybody in the audience and makes them flee the theater.

I knew Aquaman would terrible because he's a daddy. Men aren't able to be portrayed anymore as alpha male. They can only be subservient to women, a total loser, gay, bad guy or a loving daddy probably to a girl.
He was a Chad at end of Aquaman, and first trailer he's baby sitting? Where's the mom? Is it Amber heard? And she's busy ruling in his stead?
