Chicago, Illinois - On March 21, 2024, at approximately 6:02 p.m., five Chicago police officers pulled over 26-year-old Dexter Reed, Jr. for not wearing a seatbelt in the 3800 block of West Ferdinand in Humboldt Park. The officers, with weapons drawn, repeatedly order him to roll down the vehicle’s windows, but Reed appeared to ignore their commands. The officers involved were in an unmarked squad car and dressed in plain clothing. After a few tense seconds, gunfire erupts. A Chicago officer standing on the SUV’s passenger side was shot in the wrist. COPA said it was Reed who fired first. COPA says officers returned fire 96 times over a 41-second period. Reed got out of his car and fell to the ground. A gun was recovered on the front passenger seat of Reed's vehicle, according to COPA. One officer was shot in the left wrist and taken to Stroger Hospital for treatment in good condition. The four other officers were taken to area hospitals for observation and were listed in good condition. Reed was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Why are police officers in most missions so fierce for the simplest things, as if they are entering a world war? Why don't they act conscientiously? This does not exist in Switzerland or New Zealand
@@Pi1997 because of the US gun laws. Every suspect is potentially armed, therefore officers must be more on edge. Moreover, the US criminal system is very punitive, and negatively skewed for poor people. Therefore, some reoffenders rather go down in a gunfight than back to prison, again meaning that officers need to watch out for their own safety more. Lastly, US officers are (sometimes) not as well trained as officers in Europe. (3 yrs vs 6 months training for example). This means that the skillset is more limited to tactical responses. However, in this case, they seemed relatively well trained, and rightfully on edge since dude was willing to die over a ticket

I swear it is very sad
I don't like to see these scenes in America
The regime in Switzerland and New Zealand prohibits weapons, even for the police. They look at the suspect humanely above all else, even if the person is armed. They know how to act and the suspect does not die, unlike America.
The people of New Zealand and Switzerland trust the police to a large extent, while in America they trust a very small percentage

*It's more than just the fight-or-flight response that you experience in a shooting. As your adrenaline rushes to keep you focused and to heighten all senses while distracting you from pain, if shot, it can also take some time to relax from its effects. If your adrenaline is still rushing (which it would be) after the shooting, everyone's body handles it differently. From seizing up or what's called Immobilizing Freezing Response, to walking, running, yelling or any other outlet your body is trying to drain it through, and these are the effects that we see from that, with each different officer. The look in that man’s eyes when they told him to lower his window said it all.

The very same look of the Mexican gunmen in the Sicario border crossing movie scene...

If only the suspect hadnt used his gun.

This young man's family claims that he was slain unjustly; yet, they have not seen this footage. The suspect was not following commands and he fired the first round. And keep in mind that he just left a court hearing for the same crime, possession of a firearm, and so on. He decided for himself how he wanted to leave this world. I'm just grateful he didn't take any officers with him when he shot up the entire street.
They're black. They want some of those George Floyd Collectible Tokens. That's what they want. Common sense no longer is in play.
Did they ever show the gun the suspect had ? I think I messed that.

The problem I see is officer #3 shooting at somebody who ate multiple mags
His last 3 shots were execution
In other countries that would be jail for overkill
@@dermediterranehaider4671 what exactly is overkill? When you shoot you are shooting to kill. The point is to to kill the suspect because he is trying to kill them (the police). If people don’t like it they should not shoot at the police in the first place.

Kinda unfair, it depends on your location to the perp, you can’t engage sometimes due to crossfire.
In Chicago they should already have cover ready to get to when on a car stop
He shot at an officer first. The bodycam clearly shows he hit the officer in his forearm.
It looked like she shot the officer
Yep......that's what the description clearly says, thanks for pointlessly reiterating it....
