Description: Casper, Wyoming - On June 6, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., multiple officers with the Casper Police Department responded to a call for service regarding a disturbance in the 5000 Block of Pay It Forward Drive. Officers spoke with the victim on scene, who made allegations that she was the victim of domestic violence. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, 26-year-old Trae Spurlock, for five minutes. After all attempts to contact Spurlock failed, Officers returned to speak with the victim. In need of personal items from her home, the victim requested to enter the residence. To ensure her safety, the officers accompanied her. While this conversation was happening, one of the officers speaks with the victim to confirm if the weapon they had just observed, was, in fact, real. Upon entering the residence, the officers found Spurlock sitting on the balcony with a rifle next to him on the ground. For nearly 15 minutes, the officers attempted to talk Spurlock into the apartment, and away from his rifle. When the officers attempted to arrest Spurlock for simple, domestic assault, Spurlock opened the sliding door and turned rapidly back towards the rifle. When the attempted use of a taser failed, the officer fired his weapon seven (7) times, six (6) of which struck Spurlock as he moved for his rifle. Officers immediately began first aid efforts and Spurlock was transported by ambulance to Banner Wyoming Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
I wonder if the officer might have just stated the facts and the outcome and asked the man is this the way you want to go out, over some girl that screams at you? 🤷♂️ 20-20 and all.
Girlfriend was obviously pushing his buttons and caused that situation on purpose. She probably knows his personality while hes drinking and getting angry as a vet. You can tell because when he got shot there was no classic "woman screaming" or going "Nooooo!!!". Thats what happens in a domestic dispute youre trying to resolve or get someone mental help. Considering that girlfriend was screaming and him and he couldnt get her out of the apartment... im going to say all signs point to murder by cop using psychological manipulation.
Most people don't understand this but a continuous stress response mixed with PTSD and alcohol causes a significant decrease in executive function (e.g. making a good decision). Constant button pushing and manipulation will cause an individual to just say "f it". Over production of cortisol, the stress hormone, will cause a shrinking effect and rewiring of the prefrontal cortex and cerebral cortex leading to a physical disability to actually function properly. The woman may not know thats what shes causing to happen but she clearly was triggering him. She should be investigated for cheating or other psychologically manipulative behavior. Texts at least.

@crazychase98 If you get on a lease with someone, you legally cannot force them to leave like that. It's better that you remove yourself from the situation. Or just be a man and wait out the lease.
Pathetic performance from scared cops. Unloaded half a clip and called the emergency so late. They could’ve de escalate the the situation but chose not too reacted with emotion and not with professionalism these are the men that are suppose to protect us.
As a retired Police Sergeant of a major department in Texas I wouldn’t want my Officers to push this into a critical incident like they did. Get the girlfriend out of the equation and back out. Call the guy on the phone and let them work the guy out. If that doesn’t work, walk a warrant and pick the dude up from work the next day after he’s sobered up. My gosh what a waste.
You're a Sgt and you don't recognize the risk (and liability) in leaving him in the house. Isn't liability Sgt 101? He's the abusive criminal and it's her house too. You know as well as I do there's a high probability she was going to show back up later and he wouldn't be happy about the police involvement. Not placing him under arrest as per the law would open the dept to an unheard of amount of liability. Nothing will fuck a department like mishandling a DV in which the victim gets hurt or killed. Get out of here
@@ryang9113 so much truth to that. I keep seeing “as a 20 year cop” or a “retired sergeant” and giving garbage advice on how they would handle this situation.

@@aaronrosner4942 Isn’t that too obvious!?The cop made his decision to kill him the moment the guy said that he was not going to jail. The cop has been putting words in his mouth trying to make a false situation where he was threatening to shoot the cops.
@aaronrosner4942 Because this dude was very cordial and respectful, and did everything he could to de-escalate the situation without giving up his freedom he fought for. Cops just wanted to shoot a white man. Where are the social workers yall keep talking about sending to these calls? The man spoke true, if he wanted to end them he'd have done it while they were all funneled in the hallway inspecting the wall. Cause I feel for him. I've been there. PTSD is no joking matter. I wanted to kill myself. I got help. He didn't hurt the girl there was no reason to take him to jail. The girl was getting her stuff if she left that would have been it. Not unload a clip on him. So sad. He looked and talked like a nice guy. Sorry. RIP.
I’m not against how this guy was acting but he did hint at suicide by cop right off the rip right when they said they were going to arrest him he already knew what he wanted
Bro already made his decision. Drinking whiskey next to his rifle, reminiscing on the good times with his brothers, wondering why it was them killed in combat and not him. Civilians would never know. If I were that cop, I would've told him "You're right brother, you're not going to jail but you're are clearly fighting demons. Let's get you somewhere safe", once he has his guard down take him in and tell him "I wasn't going to let another fall on my watch" when he's sober.
So many PREVENTABLE deaths in these videos if only Cops were better trained in Mental Health, or have at least 1 Mental Health Professional with them on calls! So deplorable that this continues🤬
That was his choice lil bro. He literally said a bunch of death threats to cops and literally almost grabbed the rifle and unaliving the cops. Are you brain dead?

I was in the military academy with this man… his name is Trae Spurlock…. The shooting wasn’t justifiable at all… They should’ve slipped him into the hospital instead of threatening jail… His rifle wasn’t reachable… he was subdued by taser than shot point blank…. The woman didn’t even need to re enter the apartment. He sent her with her things, then he even brought her keys out to her… a 2nd time they interacted without police and there was no issue…. Look, I’m sorry that you lost a friend in this incident. But he reached for a rifle and the taser didn’t work. His rifle absolutely was reachable. Again, I’m sorry you lost a friend.
@@damoclesecoe7184 What "threats" tho, like he even said multiple times, he made no threats. He said it himself, death by cop sounds fine. And who are you to decide for others what the "worst option" is? If I lived in the US I woulda peaced out long ago. Alas, where I live there ain't no police brutality.
Yep, "Mentioned suicide by cop and stated he wasnt going to jail tonight....what could go wrong". And let me add, was standing 3 feet from a loaded rifle and he isn't afraid of a fire fight. Yeah. what could go wrong.
Domestic assault for pushing her after she pushed him. This is exactly why the justice system is fucked up! The situation could have been over if they would have just made her leave and let the man chill out alone. The cops escalated this and should be held accountable
You are right Ben, but the blame lies on the ridiculous domestic violence laws pushed by the Baby Boomers back in the 90s because they were all brainwashed by CNN. Younger generations need to change these laws to give discretion back to police officers instead of the Boomer's favorite "Zero Tolerance" policies which have caused untold harm.
I'm a vet, family of police officers, but this is infuriating to listen to. Senseless, this officer kept bringing up a shootout, didn't deescalate, the suspect was reasonable and lucid, this could have gone so differently, it's sad
The suspect eluded to having a shootout with the police multiple times. Cop was just trying to clarify what he meant. I usually am not on the cop’s side since there are so many cases of rampant abuse on their part. This situation is different imo. The vet special treatment only goes so far. Saying this as an Army vet myself.
I personally think he didn't die over the chick, I think she was just the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. Must have had all kinds of stresses and situations. He outright decided he was not going to jail, so fate was sealed.
Cops killed this guy over forcing the issues to arrest him because she said he hit her but she had no injuries he admitted to shoving her out a front door. Pushing her out the front door should not be a crime. This is a civil matter IMO now days any woman calls the police can make any claim they believe these woman without any shred of proof. The police had other options they used their guns get compliance.
I agree! Sadly these couch justice warriors think he was setting the cops up and he was a criminal etc. everyone’s had one of those days where you just snap and whatever happens happens. Sadly the police coulda handled it better and unfortunately this guy coulda also. The women obviously wanted more drama also. Instead of leaving like she was gonna she wanted to get the last laugh in. She has to deal with that forever now. I wonder if he knew she was cheating on him or he was just tired of working all day to pay for everything while she is out having fun. Wish there was more to the story but sadly we won’t ever know everything.
What you just saw was the physical image of men's mental health in America. Being done with everything. No matter what you do the woman is the victim. No matter how much you beg and plead for peace, you're always the bad guy and you're always the aggressor because you have something swinging between your legs
He willed it into existence. You see it with people that start accusing cops of racism before they’ve spoken and they end up talking and behaving their way into being arrested and I know that subconsciously there is something that needs to be validated because if there is no”-ism” then what are you left with?
So what was he supposed to do? Let this jagoff just hang out with his gun after he threatened a “firefight” with the cops after a domestic assault? You people are ridiculous
No but good luck living with "domestic assault" on his record. Her word is always gonna win over his. He said he pushed her, yes, but she said "pushed to the ground." The cop even said she didn't have marks on her. There is a wide range of force applied in the word "push".
She’ll find another dude and play the victim of how horrible he was. Seemed like a genuine dude who was just tired of the bull shit and cops came in their on her side instantly
this exactly, well said. I am glad there are men who get it. I would tell all men to avoid relationships and marriage with vvomen, they are just not worth it in any metric.
This is the same impression I got. It's frankly beyond disturbing how one-sided these interactions are. I've known many men who have been shoved but absolutely none of those women ever get charged for domestic assault or ever will. This was brazen af.
No doubt there could’ve been a better conversation to play out the situation since he did give a reasonable response if he wanted those officers dead he could’ve been shot them as they showed up / but sadly it did come out to this and I understand women will do everything just to be arrogant in any situation . But ye a better understanding and sympathy for the guy could’ve changed the outcome
Regardless of what happen you should be willing to do the time if you admit to something illegal like he did. He chose to run for a wepon when he knew he'd lose as he already stated. He could have caught her in court but he chose to die out of what? He died for no reason and it wasn't the police fault cause they simply needed to arrest him for a domestic assault it was his fault for closing to go for a wepon. He probably needed help but never seemed it cause who knows. But people saying he seemed like a genuine person must be watching something else cause I seen a guy not willing to do the time for the crime he admitted to. He literly could have gotten right out and caught it if it wasn't a problem but chose to die instead. Not the cops fault
That’s one of those vets who was living with a lot of demons and trauma and didn’t care to be living anymore. The way he said “I’m Not going to jail tonight” I knew it wasn’t going to end well. Thank you for your service, salute 🫡

Wrong, he did. The police cannot bypass enforcing a law because someone threatens violence. Think about the precedent before drawing such a simple-minded conclusion.

Trae falls on the opposite side of the chair from the rifle. @ 14:37 The Officer drops the taser in the lower video and Trae is in a position where it is possible that both his hands are on the floor when the Officer begins shooting. Yes, looking at the entirety of the situation the disparity of force is rather appalling. She was fine. She was "pushed", if it can even be called that, hard enough for her to stumble and we saw what happened to Trae. If Trae had said "nudged" maybe there would have been a more palatable outcome.

I explained the situation and he said if no one pays for the cab she’s going to get a petty theft charge. I said “Book ‘em Dan-o!”
She should have gone to jail to begin with. The entire thing was her fault and she was the aggressor. She attacked you multiple times. Men don't like to arrest women
No matter what the guy is the problem. Even when the women admit to putting hands on their man or the cops even see them do it. It doesn't matter shit to the cops. They will ask you what you did to cause the situation or some stupid shit.
What a shame. I liked that soldier. He was very rational and simply meant what he was saying. I also really feel for the poor dog. This is a true tragedy, over pretty much nothing.
His words and actions, dictate he was already contemplating suicide. I don't think this happened over a girlfriend, the girl and police response was the catalyst to make a permanent exit. His calmness and complete control of the situation (as the officers were fumbling for words, desperate to deescalate), he was calm, cool, collected and choose his words very carefully. He was too well trained and to accomplished to be put down on a balcony over nothing. He controlled his end, and did exactly and got exactly what he was looking for. I feel very badly for him and those he left behind. I hope you are at peace Trae.
Yeah you got it right on. The cops couldn't walk away, he knew it and he was ready to go all the way. This ending just broke my heart, for all of them. You could hear that cop breaking down at the end.
Agree, there was a whole lot more going on here than him pushing his gf. She wasn’t physically hurt, however she knew he was unhinged. Sad seeing a young man throw his life away, alcohol may have clouded his judgement, if he was drinking.
Why does every female officer perform their duties as if it's their first day on the job??? She ran around the apartment aimlessly while the action took place. She never drew her weapon. She didn't help secure the scene. Never took out her cuffs. Offered no aid to the suspect, post incident. Didn't direct or manage any part of the medical team that was on the way. What did she do???
Oh, I rewatched the video. I now see what the strong female/girl boss officer did. She sort of held a flickering flashlight, for a few moments, on the suspect; post incident. Most four year olds would have had better flashlight holding skills
This is infuriating listening to the cop ask questions. Simple way to handle this. "Am I being charged with a crime?" "I'm not answering any questions without my attorney present." I will sit outside while you accompany her to gather her items." Just a damn shame.
Trea was a combat vet. The thing on his wrist is a KIA bracelet that honors his friend who was killed on deployment. I’m willing to bet he was suffering from PTSD, had a bad day and wound up dead because of some shitty decisions. Till Valhalla bro. At least you’re not in pain anymore and it was quick. Damn shame.
In Denver, Colorado, whenever there’s any kind of shit like that, they arrest both parties both the victim and the perpetrator and they let the courts sort it out instead of making a decision right then and there. Which sucks for the victim, but it also prevents women from calling the cops on their man, knowing that he’ll be arrested, even though no shit went down just to be an asshole.
Why did it have to escalate that far so as to a man being killed? Was the issue in the 1st place that serious? Couldnt the police handled this better? He pushed her from his house which is minor domestic offense and they had to do anything in their power which include murder? How does that make sense?
This was handled in the worse possible way by the lead officer... Things could've cooled off had they cleared out, pulled the girlfriend outta the equation but once again, the officer's survival instinct kicked in the minute he came face to face with a genuinely well-spoken veteran that simply needed a break.
You have no idea what you’re talking about. He was clearly in a bad state of mind. He off handily mentions ambushing them…You can’t trust no to once you walk away.
I agree. I skipped ten minutes ahead and he still asking the same question of if he pushed her. Must have been asked and answered fifty times. Cop should have handled this differently; not sure how however.
They should have backed away after the woman left. They could pick him up later when he was sober. If a crime isn't committed in their presence, they have the authority to use their own judgment in enforcing the law. Just like they don't have to give you a ticket. They can warn you and release you on a traffic stop. Continuing on this path when they know it will end in bloodshed is ridiculous. He's a veteran for petes sake! Give him a break!

I would put myself in a similar situation of this guy. I have already lived probably 3+ lifetimes worth of stuff all over the world that the average person does in 1 lifetime and at a certain point you hit a breaking point where you are like go ahead shoot me I am not going to deal with this anymore. I had a road rage event the other day similar to this where someone almost knocked me off my motorcycle and kicked the shit out of their car. They never pulled a gun on me but I was willing to die so they would end up in jail if that is where it went. There was witnesses on the side of the road cheering me on after they saw the guy break the law and almost hit me before I kicked their car. I am not suicidal and no plans to die but I feel like I have lived more than enough of a single life and have no regrets if I was to die tomorrow so some of my choices could maybe be seen as extreme in some cases. Some of my friends keep telling me they should make a movie out of my life because of all the things I have done.

Description:
Casper, Wyoming - On June 6, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., multiple officers with the Casper Police Department responded to a call for service regarding a disturbance in the 5000 Block of Pay It Forward Drive.

They can warn you and release you on a traffic stop. Continuing on this path when they know it will end in bloodshed is ridiculous. He's a veteran for petes sake! Give him a break!
Veterans do not receive the help they need.
tell me how you coulda helped this idiot who literally threw his life away over a night in jail and a small fine? I'm all ears...
Do they really ever?
@@BigTimeRushFan2112 You clearly don't understand how powerful the mark of 'domestic violence' on your record is
@@GeezSus I'm a stranger to you, don't tell me what you know about me cuz. Because you so far ain't right about a thing about me. Shake your Magic 8 Ball and try again or go sit in a corner and stop beefing with strangers like you know em.
@@BigTimeRushFan2112 Try to think beyond surface level for just one minute - it won’t hurt, I swear. This situation wasn’t just one bad night, this is OBVIOUSLY something that’s been building… something he’s been dealing with longer than that.
Had he been able to get help when things started going south with his mental state, perhaps things could have turned out differently.
It’s sad, you could see that the guy had just had enough of life in general. Just wanted to be left alone. What a terrible waste of life
The Police need to be trained better and have a mental health professional on these types of calls.
@@626STAHHaving a mental health “professional” on these kinds of calls is a ridiculous idea. Just what the cops need, somebody else’s safety they need to worry about protecting.
@@626STAH 😂😂😂😂
@@Phoenix-Cloudshut up. Be a man make a decision and stop trying to get sympathy.
I don’t understand why those who have been in military need to LOUDLY declare how badass they are and let everyone know what their profession is…
Cus it is dumb ass😂
